DLC cars cannot be sold or removed.. ever..

,,,,, even when you purchase a spare from the new dealerships!

Coming back to the "placebo" of some of the standards having better appearances. I first thought they'd changed the definition of some of the cars, until I realised that it only seemed that way on cars that I'd changed the rims on. I think it's more likely the case that the eyes are now drawn to the overall appearance of the car, encompassing the much better looking new rims, detracting somewhat from the squiggly lines everywhere else!
I thought my Supra looked almost "premiumed", until I paused for photomode and realised those lovely sparkly BBS alloys were fooling me!

Improvement

A drivers own lap time w/sectors of fast lap will stay on the timing and scoring chart when watching in a online room.👍

This never used to work as soon as you would leave the track the scoring page wouldnt show you laps w/sector times.

Cool! Will add.

I hear ya, and I don't think it's right, but we've discussed this a bit already, and I still don't think this belongs on the changelog. It's not a 'change' in this version, and it's not a bug; that is, it was fully intended by the developers.

Aww, this is something I really didn't want to hear...

Oh well. I'll remove the suggestion that the update spruced up the standards, because you seem to have done a bit more research than I have. I won't remove the question from the 'Unanswered Questions' area, though, because we haven't seen conclusive proof either way yet.

Thanks!

EDIT: Signing off! Be back tomorrow to add all your future suggestions. Thanks again to all!

old update... since 2.0

Unanswered Questions:

  • Are there truly any improvements with Standard cars? I feel like there might be something, but it might be a placebo effect.

Can't say that I noticed anything different with standards.

I'm now remembering something though: yesterday I installed a Fully Customizable Transmission to a normal car and don't remember hearing any whining sound from it. Could it be...?

EDIT:
Also, equal paint chips seemed to finally be all grouped together (was this sorted before and I am just noticing it now?).

[*]A bunch of people are saying that they hear cool 'water sloshing around' effects when driving on wet tracks, but I can't reproduce this. Can someone give me some evidence for this so I can either add it to the list proper or remove it?

[*]Are there truly any improvements with Standard cars? I feel like there might be something, but it might be a placebo effect.

[*]Some say that the lights on the Pace Car were added with this update; some say that they weren't. Anyone else want to weigh in? (I can tell you for certain that they weren't there when I bought the car on November 27 2010, but I can't tell you when they were added.)

1. As a part of upgrading the overall sounds, sound of rain was upgraded. However, as a part of the overall issues some players constantly experience in sound-department because of the inadequate setting of the Audio Options or bad speakers (on TV set or wherever), new sound of rain can be probably described as "sloshing" by them.

2. Standard Cars appearance have been constantly upgraded through all updates. All cars have been smoothened, majority of cars had totally replaced lights, details, shaders, bents and such. It is hard to say which models and under which percentage have been improved now, but it is safe to say how "Standard Cars general appearance have been enhanced"

3. Lights on the Pace Car existed even prior to this update, but they were not "working". Now they are "working" (both rotating lights on top of the car and flashing headlamps on the front/rear) so that particular car is probably champion of 2.02 upgrade in Standard models department

This particular issue:

The number on the Nissan GT-R R35 TC from the first batch of DLC can now be changed.

...was fixed in the previous 2.01 update.

Also, one of the not-so-visible updates in 2.02 is enhanced support for the FFB effect on the wheels. FFB is even stronger now, it is more detailed (bumps-related especially) and enhanced in order to cope with the new tire-model and suspension model of 2.00 update.

BTW Great thread, it is good to see everything presented in the one place 👍

in my opinion the overal effect of the light source (the sun) has improved
better reflections and more contrast, depht
maybe that is why standards look better

They did it because it would rip off PD. You can't give a DLC car to someone who has not purchased it for there own account. It has been like this ever since GT5 came out. I have the Chrome Cars. I cant sell, trade or anything. Do I care. nope. My hard earned money got me those cars.

For those like me far away from PS3 on christmas time this complete changelog is pretty much appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

Merry Christmas!

To expand on the improved wind noise, the noise reduction is evident when traveling in a slipstream.

I'm back...:)

Suggested Gear option.

Or was this in the 2.00 update?

I disabled the stupid thing.

Already covered this with "The in game Heads Up Display has been made more fully customizable, with the ability to add or remove individual items from the display." :sly:

Anyone got a screenshot of the new HUD options?

I'll try to find or take one today.

No, this isn't correct. I spend a lot of time in the timing monitor during online league races and this was not a feature until 2.02.

Heh, heh, ok, adding it back then. Thanks!

Since you seem a bit uncertain about the transmission sounds, I'll put it in Unanswered Questions and we'll see what other people say, or I can try to test it myself today. As for the paint chips, I'll do the same, though I have an inkling that this happened before 2.02.

Thanks!

Ok, so here's what I'll do: I'll leave the 'sloshing' question in the changelog, just to hear from more people. I'll add the fact that standards have been adjusted, but won't mention a specific effect. And I'll take it from your third statement that that's a vote for 'lights added in 2.02? I'll remove the question about that, then, because we seem to have a bit of consensus over that.

I'll also add the Force Feedback info. I didn't add this before because I had just heard isolated rumors and complaints that I couldn't verify (because my G27 is back in my dorm, over 300 miles away :grumpy:).

Thanks for the tips (and the compliment :))

add

I did see what I thought to be better contrast, but I don't have access to the TV I usually play on right now, and the TV I'm using now has utterly terrible contrast settings (which I'm far too lazy to change). So I couldn't be sure.

There seems to be an overall improvement in the lighting engine, what with the standard cars' headlights now shining onto surfaces and improved shadowing, so I'll see what I can do to make all these improvements grouped together.

Thanks for the input!

This had been fixed before 2.02.

Another contention over when something was updated XD

There is a good way for me to possibly verify this one, though. Whenever I can, I change numbers to 42, for reasons you can probably guess just by the number or with the help of my username! If my GT-R says 42 on it, then I know that this was a prior update. I'll still remove it now, because I think you're right, but I'll see if I changed that number sometime today.

Thanks!

"2x resolution has been enabled for all aspect ratios in Photo Mode."

This was added with Update 2.02, no?

Yep, that's why it's in our unofficial changelog for 2.02! :sly:

I totally understand what you're saying, and I agree with what you're saying. Neither I nor anyone else (that I've heard) said that we should be able to gift these cars to other people. The question has been over selling the cars back to the game (using the Sell button) or at least being able to delete them. And the reason people want this functionality is some people are running out of room in their garage, and want to be able to delete duplicates of DLC cars that they purchased from the New Car Dealerships.

Merry Christmas!

I'm far away from my wheel at Christmas time. That's what actually prompted me to make this!

Thanks for the compliment, and a merry Christmas to you too!

I think this kind of falls in with the 'racing sound effects improvement' update. But this is good to know. (Too bad I don't have my wheel to test it out at high speed :()

Really good thread, and a nice list. Keep it up, but I have one criticism.

Wheels can now be changed on (some) Standard cars, should read,
Wheels can now be changed on (most) Standard cars.

"some" gives a sense of fewer cars being allowed, whereas the fact is most of the standards can be changed.

Again, great work.

Good point. Changing now. Thanks!

Here is Graphics comparison between 1.00 and 2.02 (APNG files)

I can only find version 1 in that zip, please could you re-post? 👍

The file is both; it's written as an APNG file, or 'animated PNG'. Only certain web browsers and image editors can recognize and view APNG files. For now, you can probably view it in Firefox, but TCSdisable, would you mind posting it also as either an animated GIF or, if you hate the whole licencing restrictions surrounding GIF, two separate images? Thanks in advance!

I don't know if it was already said but some users (including me) are having issues with engine sounds on some cars like the Viper ACR, 787b and others. The engines are either too quiet (barely audible) or only comes from the left or right speakers.

I did notice mention of this on some other threads. Thanks for the verification!

Oh, wait, did you mean that you thought it was added earlier? Sorry, I think I misunderstood your first post.

Can anyone else vouch that 2x resolution was added before 2.02?

Yes, the 2x to replay photomode has been added a while back. I don't remember when though.

Cheers mate 👍

I need to update Photoshop :) Works a charm in Firefox though!

I decided to use APNG because this format provide lossless.

Five minutes ago I was playing GT5 on SSR7 with weather effect...And the first thing/s what I noticed was better's ground reflections, better lightning, better sharpness in afar and.. when "raindrop impact the ground" is spraying water around.

Can anyone confirm this too?
