Oh, wait, did you mean that you thought it was added earlier? Sorry, I think I misunderstood your first post.

Can anyone else vouch that 2x resolution was added before 2.02?

I can, I was taking photos at 2x resolution at Nordschleife in November.

I decided to use APNG because this format provide lossless.

Oh, yeah, forgot that GIF quantizes and dithers. Stupid file format...

Five minutes ago I was playing GT5 on SSR7 with weather effect...And the first thing/s what I noticed was better's ground reflections, better lightning, better sharpness in afar and.. when "raindrop impact the ground" is spraying water around.

Can anyone confirm this too?

I'll go fiddle with this now. It seems like the only suggestion that you make that wouldn't fall under 'lighting improvements' would be the raindrops hitting the track, though, right? Or am I missing something?

I just figured this one; don't know if it has already been mentioned or has already been implemented in a previous update:

Nurburgring GP/F: low resolution BMW logo and German slogan "Freude am Fahren" has been replaced with a high resolution logo and a crystal clear "Freude am Fahren Sheer Driving Pleasure"

It appears that more textures/logos have been upgraded in the start/finish area, but I could be wrong here.

If they did it there, they might have done in other locations ...

No. You probably understood this correctly :D

OK so I finally bought the pace car in the UCD. Hurray!!! The light bar is always running now. The lights were turning when I purchased it, oil changed and when I view it in the garage as well. I guess the fix has made the lights permanently on. Strobes are not active but only on track.

I can definitely confirm the raindrops splashing, so I'll add that now. Thanks!

I'll just add a generic 'Some track textures have been updated to higher resolution versions.' Thanks!

Anyone got a screenshot of the new HUD options?

When using clutch with a wheel your car now backfires on upshifts depending on how quickly you shifted and what rpm, only works on cars with upgraded exhaust. Used to only be on downshifts, now it happens on upshifts above 2nd gear. Will continue to test to see if it can be done on lower gears.

Very cool! Keep us posted. I'll update the changelog when you do!

And if you could be so kind as to check the clutch-causes-stalls rumor above, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks again!

Seems like it's easier to stall your car, I can stall the car when in gear by revving and releasing the gas and hitting the brake from stand still or low speed, just watch your tachometer if it drops quickly below idle you are stalling. I'm disappointed by no start up sound when you get going again. But now clutch users can stall their cars a lot easier now, now we need a simulated start up this would be epic, lol.

Very interesting, and probably more realistic. I'll just put that the clutch mechanics have been adjusted.

Come to think of it, it probably wouldn't be terribly hard for them to implement a start-up sound when you get going again. They already have the audio clips of the startup of each car...

Thanks again!

No problem, I hope they add it. All you do is hold the clutch and the engine magically gets going. lol weird. Also now with ABS off you have to use you brake controller to set how quickly you lock tires up, but it is different for cars of different weight classes and distribution. I'm driving the Hommel Berlinette and it's MR but weight reduction to about 1079kgs with ABS controller setting 3 front and 2 rear, the car takes a great deal of pedal pressure to lock wheels as I haven't locked them and I was driving something sustanstially heavier with the same brake bias setting but it locks up more readily. Both were on sport soft tires, ABS is much more manageable now with 2.02. Cars feel lively under braking I think ABS needs more tweaking as it's too easy to control cars with it set to 1. Without it you have to brake in a straight line more often and reduce pressure as you slow down to prevent lock up. With ABS on 1 you don't have to worry about a thing at all.

EDIT: spin outs also cause you to stall, so be warned when you drive using clutch. Now I hope they bring back power shifting, it's impossible to do right with this misshift penalty they have.

Some of my friends reported that the tire wear had been changed, meaning a spin would basically wear your tires down to a state that leads them useless and hard to drive with.

... just wanted to say thank you for your work, h2g2guy. This list is a good thing and reflects the true efforts PD put into this patch.

However, I really don't know why PD are not releasing a full change log; but just imagine PD going through your / our list and go like: right, right, wrong (pure imagination), right, etc. lol

I dont know if it was like this before , but the WRC Ford Focus 08, now says 08,09.
It was the same car pretty much in both years.

Very useful information, good to know. Thanks again!

Tire wear has been changed, and I have heard that rumor. I just did a test with a Ford GT '06 with racing softs. Spinning out at high speed will make you lose a significant amount of your tires, but it will not wear them down as much as the rumors say. It took me almost a full lap of Cape Ring Periphery (ab)using only the emergency brake to deplete the tires entirely. That said, it is now absolutely CRITICAL to monitor tire wear and minimize loss of traction when these issues are applicable.

Note that I have not tested with an F1 or FGT. I'm guessing that you'll lose significantly more tread when going at those higher speeds, but I seriously doubt it would be enough to destroy the tires completely.

I also noticed that heavy braking while turning sometimes made one of my front tires red. I'm guessing this is just an adjustment to help you see how much you're abusing your tires, but I could be wrong.

You're welcome! And thanks for the compliment!

You honestly made me laugh out loud with that last comment :D

Wow, that's odd. But did you mean the Ford Focus RS WRC 07 '08? I can confirm that one in the dealership.

And if someone can confirm that it wasn't like this before, I'll gladly add it to the list.

Thanks!

The 2001 and 2003 Acura CL now have 5 speed transmissions as in real life. At one point they had 6 speed transmissions. Not sure if it was fixed in Spec II or 2.02.

More accuracy is always better ;)

Thanks!

If someone can confirm that this was added in 2.02, I'll add it to the list.

Grip Settings Online: When running through the grass, good luck with your grip for the next 250 meters! Way more pronounced than before.

Steering: Have to fight with the car way more than ever, hence realism at high speeds or high G stress on the car, way more advanced than ever before

I love it.

I've noticed recently on my G27 that I was getting full brake indicator bar at about 1/3 brake pedal a LOT before this update and just figured that's just how it its, but now I get a brake indicator that matches the pedal. I read somebody saying that you need to sweep all the pedals through their range when leaving pit in auto drive or when in countdown before races and I have been doing this.

I am not sure if this is related to 2.02 or just the fact that i am stepping on the pedals before entering. will test it out. I'll enter race and not touch anything and see how it reacts and then back completely out and enter again and move the pedals through their ranges and see what happens.

My clutch DOES feel better, but still has to be timed properly, I feel like I don't have to lift throttle quite as much but no powershift yet.

Adding your grip stuff now, thanks!

As for the steering, if I'm understanding you correctly, this is probably already covered under force feedback adjustments.

Thanks again! Keep them coming!

I've noticed this issue (but to a much lesser extent), but not the solution, on my G27's accelerator pedal before the update. Let us know what you find!

Also, has the 2nd gear issue finally been fully resolved? And if it was, when was it fixed? I haven't noticed it lately, but I might have just gotten better at dealing with it :dopey:

So guys, what the engine failure?

Failure? Cars stall that is the extent of it though. You can stall a lot easier now using the clutch, powershifting is still MIA. But you can quickly shift and get on the gas instantaneously causing backfire from the exhaust on upshifts, you'll notice the over revving before you drop down to correct rpms, slower on the gas and you get a perfect shift without the over rev.

Might be a placebo effect but driving with the clutch and no aids whatsoever feels much more involving that I remember. Throttle is much wider and better application for cars and makes it easier to traverse medium speed sections. Mind you I drive mainly on Sport or less tires, I don't like the sharp grip loss suffered with race tires.

Also many cars now you can audibly hear many cars turbo spool up from the interior view though. I will be attempting to set the audio to its highest setting within the game and running PS3 using DD 5.1 to see what happens with audio. Right now I am running LCPCM 5.1 through HDMI on livingroom setting sounds are pretty loud and much more punch, wind noise is very good. Have to check on sound balance some people have complained about, but I think is based on the drivers position in the car left or right side few cars have central position for the driver...that might be the reason. Be back with updates later on.

You should always calibrate your pedals after the game starts up by fully depressing and releasing them. When you start the game your wheel spins to calibrate itself but there's no way to self-calibrate the pedals. After your wheel spins, press all the pedals all the way and you'll have no more issues with your brakes. This isn't a new feature, been this way since day one. 👍

Good to know. Thank you

Not sure whether this came with the 2.02 update or spec 2...

I go to practice a track (as per this weeks WRS time trial) run a lap, save the ghost/best lap replay and then exit to replay theater to check it over.

If I then go back to the same track in the same car, it won't let me load up that ghost replay immediately. I have to go to track, run the car for a few seconds, and then exit out to load up the ghost replay.

This certainly wasn't the case before 2.00 but I haven't played much between then and now to know when the bug was introduced.

Disclaimer: have only discovered this on Tokyo R246 reverse so far, but have not checked any other tracks

That's odd. Well, something to add to the changelog, anyway!

I would like corroboration of this one, though, both on when it was introduced and on what tracks it becomes an issue.

Anyone know?
