Contemplating a Drift Video.

Tweaked cars are usually more spectacular although I do find drifting a standard car more rewarding. I will normally save a good drift replay to watch again, I can't get enough of drifting!

BTW if you want to see some quality drift videos then go to
http://w1.movies.taner.net

The blitz tuned Altezza is awsome! I would also highly recommend the RUF Nurburgring video (2nd part is better), French RS4 video and of course the Top Gear clips with good old Tiff Needell :D

The site plays up a lot, if it doesn't work now, it probably will later or tomorrow. I was downloading from it yesterday but I have had the same trouble as you. Worth bookmarking though

As for your list of cars Midus, I think they will all be driftable although some will need setting up. A few of those will drift surprisingly well however with just an oil change and some sim tyres. I had the 328ci at some surprising angles round midfield after adding only tyres and oil. Your choice of tracks sounds good, all have some really good corners for drifting.I would love to see you nail the downhill s bend going into the tight hairpin on midfield, when you keep it totally sideways all the way it looks awesome!

Just wondering though, how many of you use the handbrake to initiate or keep drifts going. It's not something I use unless I am drifting FWD and wondered what you thought of it's use. Also, how many of you are fans of initial D?

All the cars I've listed I have set up and drifted both short and long sweeping turns. My old drift formula consisted of LSD manipulation and super slick tyres. Now even with the 600+hp beasts I feel that sim tyres are the only way to go. And the turn you mentioned I have attempted. I actually pulled a wicked turn out but put a little too much acceleration on the exit and started to spin out in the tunnel, it looks okay but the mess up was noticeable on replay. On one of the turns on complex string, the largest of the "bubble" turns I got about 5/6 around with an Autobacs MR-S GT, it was incredible. Some cars I have found drift perfectly with a bone stock engine others I found need a little boost to get those long drifts going...

What program can be used to get my replays from ps2 onto computer so i can mix them, add music and stuff? I wanna try making a retarded initial d video with all my retarded initial d-oriented cars and 10+ trial mountain and deep forest replays

I've seen all of Initial D, Initial D: 2nd Stage, 3rd Stage, Extra Stage, and Battle Stage ^_^
I got it all off of mIRC like i do with all my other anime.

I also have one question on how to change the resolution to a picture

You mean you want to get pictures off your Anime that you downloaded.

Have you got paint shop pro or any decent paint program? (not ms paint)

All you have to do is pause it where you want the image and then Press alt+printscreen. Now go into your paint program and go to edit|Paste.

Go to the image menu and find the resise option.
100x100 is good.
So is a 1 pixel black border aound the edges.

Sim tyres are the way to go! I personally don't like too much power though as it makes low speed drifts really hard. The last, long hairpin on that section on complex string I find impossible to drift the length of.

You have to bear in mind the weight of the car, I am currently working on my Trueno which has 188bhp (NA). 300bhp is way too much for something as light as the Hachiroku

The last hairpin on complex string I found easier to take backwards(C.S. II). That way on the latter half of the turn you can just e-brake the tail around and you should be golden. Although I have found that getting a "replay" drift, a drift that satisfies both camera angles on that particular turn is rough but still entirely possible. I found that for that turn a race car works better because manipulation of the downforce really helps in relation to how much power you're putting down.

300 hp isn't too much hp even for the hachi-roku. You actually will need about 300 hp to drift the whole last turn on Complex String. I think that anything above 400 hp is too much for any car. If you've seen the Gran Dorifto series, Cudaman uses at least 300 hp on each of his cars.

On the long corners power is really useful, on tighter turns however it is a pain. Ever tried drifting the speed 12 around the last hairpin on midfield smoothly?

it's not too bad on tight corners. You just gonna control the throttle by either tapping the button or using the pressure sensitivity. of course having the wheel would be MUCH more easier....

That's easily accomplished with a car of any power range...Just ebrake high in the turn and slide side ways. Add some throttle as you're hitting the apex and your tail spins around...Then let go of the throttle then get back on it or upshift to gain your grip.

Actually...it's not. You see, ebraking looks really good on replays to be actually completely sideways before hitting the actually arcs and also can be used to make much longer drifts. Granted I only use ebrake at the end of long sweeping turns and the beginning of tight hairpins.

well then it ain't true drifting for FR cars
i agree with you that ebrake does make the replays look ALOT nicer
but when you can use the brake like its the ebrake and get sideways even b4 the turn, you sir, are good ;)
