Maziora Aston Martin Racing
After receiving baseline specs and preparing the car, driver and team owner Markus Weiss announced, today, that he will be the team owner of a two car team, competing in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge:
Do you see your team competing for the overall win?
I certainly hope so. I have no idea how strong the rival drivers are, and can't yet comment, but the car seems planted, especially at high speeds, and I can't wait to find out.
Why the Aston Martin V12 Vantage?
I chose this car, mainly, because of its styling and all-around performance capabilities. It's not bad in the corners, and feels fast in the straights. Testing hasn't shown whether it's extremely fast or not, yet, but expect a good show.
You've always been in the slower class, when you've done multi-class racing. Do you see this season being any different, now that you're in the faster class?
Certainly, passing the ST cars will be a big deal for me. This is a new experience. I always prefer to run slower cars, but the Aston Martin was too much. Between how good it is, and my outward nature, I knew I had to try something new; in this case, something new was being in the faster class in the multi-class racing.
You say that, as though you're certain that the ST field will fill up. Is that your belief?
Yes. I know that ST will fill up. Two cool guys are in ST, and it won't be long until more start to join the fray. Teams will be formed, and teams need teammates.
Speaking of teammates, do you have any word about a second driver?
Not yet. I'll offer a seat on my team, to anyone who can prove themselves competitive, or has a proven track record. That includes the car, for free, with paint and all upgrades. I'm hoping to put a pro-am driver in the seat, since (s)he won't have to pay, making it a useful position for a driver who has talent, but couldn't otherwise get into the sport.
