Because a two-month old Montero selling for the same price as a new Montero is a no-brainer. People talk about car losing value quickly - it isn't true. If one doesn't drive their car, they could sell it for the same they sold it for new, or damn close to it. But we do drive our cars, and from a value standpoint the trade-off in dollars for fuel economy, power, reliability, and particularly getting to pick your own spec and negotiate your own price with a much higher latitude that with used cars outweighs the benefits of a used car.
Hondas are - in general - the best value in the business. The only exceptions are the Insight, Civic Si, and 2WD versions of the Element and CR-V. That's just four cars - I could go on all week listing Mitsubishis that have crap value.
Convertibles have crap value (I call it a stupid buy 85% of the time); I quoted that performance cars have great value - the two best value cars right now are the performance variants of the Ford Mustang (SVT Cobra and Mach 1) and the Pontiac GTO.
