World rally champion Sébastien Loeb using GT4 to learn Le Mans track.

"It resembles what I have seen on the Playstation game, but it's totally different when you start driving for real. It's a much faster circuit than the ones I know... you really have an impression of incredible speed," he said.

i'm watching it on speed and it looks like they have it on the bag i woke up at 7:30 to watch it, the only way the chevy's will catch up if its something bad happens with # 58 DBR9. Oh btw we can send e-mail to the anouncers with questions we have, i'm still thinking of one lol.

at 12.22 pm they don't look like they have it in the bas cause they are second

Maybe the Aston got done again for another Stop and Go - Brabhams DBR-9 got a couple of them early in the race for clipping bollards

One hour to go.

Well, the Aston team has pretty much fallen apart. Many problems (including running out of gas), and the heat in the cockpit is just killing the drivers now.

Still, what a performance for their first time out. They've served notice, that's for sure.

Meanwhile Kristensen will win in an R8. What a shock, huh?

...Aston Martin lost. Can anyone tell me what happend...

Broken front spoiler, busted radiator, blown tires, cockpit heat that was killing the drivers, and, worst of all, they let the 58 car run out of gas on the course, where it sat for the rest of the race.

do you think there will be any chance of this being televised again? because i missed it because of plans, which sucks because i was looking forward to it,

Yeah, I heard somewhere that the intense cockpit heat meant that the drivers were losing around 3 pints of water through sweat with just one stint in the car. Well done to Corvette and Audi, And the Peskies were unlucky. Aston Martin provided a battle for 22 and a half Hours with Le Mans Veterans, which is frankly a great acheivement in itself.

Tom Kristensen, a record 7th win, 6th consecutive in 8 or 9 starts is absolutely amazing, especially considering that Audi had to do it with more weight and less horsepower than the Pescarolos.
Congratulations! 👍

That was a great race. It was a good way for R8 to end its amazing run.

The Corvette and Aston battle was exciting, and I can't wait until their next battle (Petit Le Mans?) and next years battle between the factory vettes and the customer Aston Martins. Although I think the DBR9s (and maybe the C6R as well) will carry a weight penalty next year (like the Ferrari 550s did this year) because they broke the 3:55 barrier on numerous laps.

Anyone with more knowledge of this rule care to share more information?

So can anyone tell me why race cars, like the Aston DB9 for example, with over 500HP can't have an air conditioning compressor running of their engine. Would it really add so much weight, and would it really drain so much power? I'm sure they could design a more efficient and lighter race version if they wanted to as well.

In my '95 nissan truck, if I turn of the A/C, its like i just turned on a turbo, However in my '00 Maxima I can't tell much of a diff, and it only has 222HP.

Its really hard to understand how the Aston team didn't know they were going to have this cockpit heat problem. Seems odd.

BTW, they don't have to A/C the cockpits. The refrigerated "cool suits" would do it, and the units don't weigh much at all.

I'm also impressed that the Aston DB9 would be competing with the Corvette C6R. I would think the Corvette would be much lighter than the Aston. Which is not to say I'm a big fan of corvettes.

It's to much weight for them, they are puting the suits before their stint(s) in a fridge. They aren't going to put a heavy box in the car

French cars suck

...naaa, just French governing bodies. Whether its stacking the Tour de France with uncompetitive Cycling teams, screwing up the rules and this week's USGP, or allowing a "French Le Mans" team to have a competitive advantage. They get the gas face.

It's a shame that they disallowed the "quick release tranny" this year. It's not like it was an "Audi" exclusive invention. Ricardo is the third party company that produces them, and I'm sure they could supply any LMP1/2 team that wanted them.
