i was just wondering what you guys think is the country that gives it's cars the best names?

(if i have missed any countries that produce cars in the poll please let me know!)

It's close between the USA and UK imo. I'm going to vote UK, we have the Vantage, Typhon, Sagaris.

i voted italy-although im english- with names like enzo, scaglietti, etc-

uk wasn't far behind

Japan - just for the hilarious names they come up with:

Honda Life Dunk
Isuzu's Mysterious Utility
Mitsubishi Delica Space Gear
etc...

Put that aside, the best sensible names must come from the UK and US.

I'm going to vote UK, we have the Vantage, Typhon, Sagaris.

And MGF, Eclat, 25, 350i, Plus Four, DB5, Freelander... the list goes on and on and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Yeah but you get boring names from any country, America has the H2, the H3, 300C, CTS and XLR. Italy with the 500R, the F355, the F430 the F40. France with the C2, C3, DS, 106, 205, 306 ect. In fact I think if you were to do it on a bassis of which country has the lowest boring names to good names ratio, Japan would probably win, at least if were talking markets where theres a higher number of companies and cars being manufactured. But I think the actual best names are on British cars, that's not to say there are a higher number of good names anywhere else, just thoes good names elsewhere arn't as good as the good names here imo.

Japan, hands down.

I mean seriously, the country has brought us names like Fit, Skyline, Protege, and Prelude. Prelude to what you ask? You're about to find out!

(Actually, your not, but its still fun to think that you are)

Don't hate on the F40, man. Perfect name for Ferrari's 40th Anniversary. :sly: :p

It's an appropriate name for the car, but it's not a good, imaginative or creative name. Same goes for the F50 and the F60 assuming it will be called that, appropriate but not imaginative or good, no better or worse than M3 or M5. I like names that mean something or are based on something to visualise the cars character. I like the names of the TVR's for that reason. The Cerbera for instance is named after the dog that gaurds the gates of Hades, the Typhon is a monster so powerful the Greek god's ran away frm him, the Sagaris was a mighty weapon used in battle and so on. Imo, thoes are good names.

Well, yes, I agree, but it does suit the car more than Enzo (though that was the last car Enzo was alive with, so it would be better than the '03 Enzo)imho.

But yeah, I get ya. Italy would be ok, given Lamborghini likes to give their cars names after famous bulls which shows great diversity given a bull name does tie into Taurus, the bull on the hood.

i say germany. all their car names just sound very "high end" with lots of numbers and letters :dopey:

Al countrys have lots of numbers. Specially Japan.
240SX
240Z
300ZX
350Z
180SX
200SX
S2000
S500
S600
the list goes on for about, ever...

It'd be nice if this poll was multi-choice, but I voted for the good 'ol US of A because of the fact we intimidate other countries with our car names.

America has got this one hands down:

Corvette, Camaro, Impala, Chevelle, Trans-Am Viper, Barracuda (or 'Cuda), Challenger, Charger, Daytona, Roadrunner, Superbird, Mustang, Torino, Talladega, Thunderbird, Grand Sport (or GS), Grand National (or GN), Cutlass, GTO, etc...

A good number of our modern car names that are considered to be great decended directly from WWII equipment, specifically the Mustang, Corvette, and Cutlass. Many times the cars have some kind of signifigance to the name, and I do find that somewhat interesting with some vehicles. The Thunderbird for instance is thought to be named after a Naitive American symbol, but some also say that it was named after a high-lux housing development in California.

I choose Japan because many of their car names make me laugh or are just amusing.

Sunny Excellence
Gloria
Cedric
Life step van
etc

Just checking the Tokyo motor show line up each year cracks me up.

USA probably has the best normal names, Australia copy's/continues many overseas names or makes their own based on Aboriginal names like 'Monaro' and 'Torana'.

Korea by far!!! Come on! They've come up with such absurdly good car names over the past few years it's crazy. Picanto?! Magentis?!?! ENTOURAGE?!?! Korea wins.

you only have like-the alcon/commodore aand stuff like that-which are pretty good-but usa,uk and italy is more attractive with their names

I agree, our names are not that outstanding and Falcon is american which we continued on with. I do like the name Monaro though, but certainly not the country with the best names in my opinion.

Diablo, Vespa, Zonda, Testarossa, Murcielago. You just gotta love names that sound slightly dirty, if you could only figure out what they meant.

Diablo - Devil
Vespa - Wasp
I don't know what Zonda means
Testarossa - Red head
Murcielago - Name of a famous bull.
