It's like horse racing with bets, but with motorcycles.




Leave it to the Japanese to come up with something like this.
Still undeniably awesome though.

They didn't. It's a US invention from about 80 years ago called "Motorcycle Speedway" - the above videos use tarmac surfaces rather than dirt, it's the exact same format and style.

Apparently Norick Abe's father used to race in Auto Race. There is a billboard for Auto Race in GT5's Tsukuba Circuit, too.

Oh, and there's Motorcycle Asphalt Racing Series (MARS) in the US around the 90s, which is basically Auto Race without the betting thing. There's also a manga dedicated to Auto Race.
