A respectable 3rd place for Gryaznov, his first career podium! Ivan...did not do as well. :p But overall, Force Siberia is back up to 3rd place in the team standings!

Hehe, nevermind. I'll focus on other things.

We spend 8 billion on training a super elite squadron of ground troops, with threaded, pure carbon nanotube body armor and equipped with the highest technology available for soldies at the moment, such as our new M-0122 assault rifle, and movement-tracker radar. They are especially trained in espionage, marksmanship, and strong independence while also capable of increasing potential in a squadron.

There are 1,000 of these soldiers.

These group of soldiers will be nicknamed the "Styx Division" or known as the "Styx" for short. Due to their carbon nanotube body armor (which is 30x stronger than Kevlar [I spent 8 billion on 1,000 soldiers, let me have this] and more lightweight) they are nearly invisible at night and can maneuver effectively and silently.

They'd give FAST teams a run for their money, and are even better in some aspects. I'd say they're dead even, though.

Very well. We send representatives and one squadron from each of our Styx subdivisions to demonstrate our unorthodox and highly effective battle strategies and tactics. Each subdivision will demonstrate themselves, and if we may, we suggest using a sort of Po-Novomu Berlin type of training program, with lasers and such. It'll ensure safety. Although with our armor, we'd be fine even if you used 9mms! :)

The USS Rangers about choked on their MRI's when they hear of the Styx division. "The **** is a styx?" One of them asks. Well what you have in tech we have in moral. We still have the best ground forces in the game. Hooah!

So everyone has a super-elite ground squadron and beefed up normal ground troops. Guess I'll have to follow suit eventually...might as well do it now. We're still and will remain a defense-only nation, but defense isn't effective if the invaders' armies can stomp all over yours. Current budget is $41.75 billion, let's see how much that diminishes by the end of this post. :D

To this ground troop improvement end, Siberia has launched Project Snowblind (again from the game of the same name I got the Ko-47's rotors from), a project designed to create an elite team of supersoldiers able to dance with the best of them. Since we are on a defense-only program, members of the project will be trained specifically to be able to beat anyone in the world (even the Rangers ;) ) at combat in Siberia's harsh weather conditions, and will be rarely, if ever, be taken out of this environment. This program will produce new equipment specifically designed for the project, at the same time as Merkulov and Tokerev are producing new equipment for the main Siberian Army and Marines. Taking a page from the FAST Team handbook, members of Project Snowblind will be split into squads of four members each. Tokerev is now hard at work developing a complete set of equipment for the project, and $5 billion has been spent to speed up the development process. (Budget: $36.75 billion)

Merkulov Industries, after studying the results of the terrorist invasion, has launched a new, all-Siberian main battle tank, the Mk-40 (Mk=Merkulov, not Mark). This standard MBT has sloped armor like the legendary T-34, but also current 21st-century armor tech like that seen on the Abrams, Leopard and Challenger tanks before WWIII. Its main cannon is of medium strength, about equal in firepower to the pre-war Abrams but more accurate at long range thanks to a longer, ridged barrel. The coaxial gun is not one .50-cal, but two side-by-side mounted .50-cals for added effectiveness, and the top turret is two side-by-side traditional .30-cals, but no longer leaves the operator vulnerable to attack, and is instead operated with cameras by an operator who is safely inside the tank with the rest of the crew. Merkulov is also developing a two-person light tank designated the Mk-30, and a superheavy tank designated the Mk-60. Both are expected to be in prototype stage within the year, and the Mk-40 has begun series production. $3.75 billion has been put into these developments. Budget: $33 billion.
