I bought the game in Jan 2011. I worked my way to level 40 in a spec, and thanks to the seasonal events I was able to buy some very nice expensive cars.
The only real gripe I have with GT5 was giving Sebastian Vettel Red Bull X2010 to everyone who logged on. Some of us ground our way through to level 40...I'm not complaining per say..just that some newbs will get the car virtually free and some of worked hard for 6 months ...Other than that I love the game..

hmmm wasn't really hard to get a redbull car. i have a few and honestly i do not enjoy that car. my bobs put a lot of mileage on one of them though. if newbies get it for logging in, good for them and hope they enjoy it more than i did. i would have been really pissed though if i had bought one for 20m, luckily i am too cheap
 
I agree the Red Bull isn't great, in fact maybe you'll agree for sheer wins, use the Formula Gran Turismo...The Red Bull was like the carrot in front of you...and when you finally get close and bite it..the carrot isn't really good at all...but still I took some pride in grinding my way up the ladder to get.

I get where you're coming from, and congrats on the lev 40 A spec, which I doubt I'll ever get as I've played this game exhaustively yet am at lev 37, I think merely halfway to 40.

Remember you can get that X1 from getting level 40 in B spec. Which you can do via the grinder very easily.

My Bobs did too. I could tell how excited they were, once they had won themselves their own, brand new, Vettel Red Bull. :)

You mean the Vettel one? That's at level 35, and with all the new XP payouts and bonuses, that car wins itself within a week now.
 
I did get t0 level 40 and bought one. Then I ground BOB on Nurburgring 4 hrs to get him to level 35 and a new Sebastian Vettel Red Bull X2010...which you can now get for signing in....lol.
It was a lot of work, I love the game but it came out 45 years after my 15th birthday..hehe
 
Now here's a completely different point of view...

I started playing a month or so ago and completed the licenses and most of the series events before heading out to the internet. It seemed easy enough to earn the cash for cars and upgrades to squeak out cheap wins and get the reward cars, etc. Loved it and never had a quarter mil in the bank (woulda thought it was xmas if I did).

Then I saw you knuckleheads talking about a half mil for less than 4 minutes and figured as long as this legal glitch exists, I'm gonna milk it till the cows bitch.

So I went into grind mode. Eleanor (my 458 Italia - first time I had to grind for a car) has made me well over 200 mil in 2.5 mil (5 race) increments so I could go and buy everything in the used car and OCD lists without ever missing any. After a few 5 race cycles I rarely had to skip a car due to lack of funds. Only 6 short of all the standards and know exactly when they will show up in the UCD list. Cash for em is in the bank.

Did not buy tons of dealer cars since they never go on sale... but the 330 came home real early with a few other must haves. Now I'll relax and earn the rest at 336k per 4 minutes instead of 504. Bummer.

Now I can happily go back to trying to win with garbage - like the 19hp Comet I got cause it looked cool - and finally won a gold series trophy with after selling every car I had to upgrade it to around 40hp. That got me the Looney Tune trophy and it's the one I'm proudest of.

So don't think of game changes as obstacles, think of them as opportunities. If something seems to good too be true, it is. Better get while the gettin is good. Life's life that, and this game just slapped everybody in the face with a big wet fish. Very realistic physics if you ask me.

Sure. And it was fun that way, building up your garage. Though the grind was pretty limited and got stale, as only a few races had such a good time to earnings ratio.

It's a video game. It should strive to be fun. Sure, the realism is fun in some respects, but simulating a financial recession? Not fun.

Forza 4 looks great, the physics are great, and it has an impressive array of cars. GT5 has better graphics, better physics, and more cars, but somehow PD manages to make this less fun.

I'm not complaining, because I can just enjoy Forza 4 for a few months. I suspect PD will wise up.

Just ran a few seasonal's and noticed that the money was low even with my 200% multiplier. Then it hit me. The double payouts are over. Trade one thing for the other I guess. I'm still playing every day :)

UPDATE: The payouts are the same if you play everyday and keep a 200% multiplier. I did the math on LaFiesta Cavallino with the Sarthe track. 168,000 x 3 = 504,000. But you have to play everyday. Won't affect me THAT much.

I think they're spot on. I enjoy the challenge and broadens my options for races. I like the fact that I'm still playing almost a year after I bought it because there are things left to do and goals to achieve.

If you don't want to earn your rewards, perhaps your attention could be better directed to petitioning P.D. for an 'easy' difficulty setting.
 
So the best and fastest way to earn money is still the ferrari seasonal le mans race?? 10mins and 1 million?? :)
 
So now they cut the time trial and drift trial prizes in half.
Kind of expected that.
This 200% login bonus gets worth less and less every day it seems.
It's like some sly banking scheme isn't it, giving us 200% bonus so everybody gets excited, same time they cut prizes in two and even three!
