I have learned that the more relaxer my driving is the more faster I am, and above all more constant and with less mistakes.

I often even drive one handed with the T500 at max in GT5 and my right hand on the TH8 shifter listening to some tunes like the stig always does. heh.

I find these rim arguments rather silly.
Everyone complaining about its quality for cost needs to step back and compare it to its future sibling.CSW

They use the same base
Csw base alone - 450
Csw rim- 150

Entire elite 500
Minus base 450
Leaving a 50 rim.

Is the csre rim alone a 50 dollar value? Im honestly asking as i dont own one. I am waiting for the csw and some more finances ;)

If the csre came with a nicer rim, the complaints would then be directed elsewhere with the design, no QR, no button box support etc.
People jumped on the little brother and are complaining about it.
Would you really have spent 100 more for a nicer rim, strictly for forza? Thomas has said new rims will be available in time. Dont worry, that 100 will be spent soon. And most likely more.

Its like buying a 3 series beemer and complaining it doesnt come with the same power and luxuries as it M counterpart. Want more, pay more.

Not calling anyone on this, just a statement on the whole situation.

Everyone complaining about its quality for cost ...

I agree Caz. Sure, we want as close to perfection as we can get, for our money but, go out and try and make your own wheel for $50. hehe

I totally agree.

And Thomas's refreshingly honest post says as much, too...

We could have delivered the CSR E only with a more expensive rim made of metal and leather and raise the price. This just kills the option to get this wheel at a more affordable price for the many people who like the rim as it is and rather have spectacular force feedback effects.

I posted a near identical argument on ISR...

"Sure, it's a €30 rim on a €500 hub (including R&D, manufacture, shipping, profit, etc). But how many sales would Fanatec have made if this'd been a €700 wheel?

Barely half, I'm sure.

And if that WAS the entry price, I can guarantee that I wouldn't own one right now. But I do, and I'm glad of it.

Yes, the rim 'cracks', flexes, is unergonomic and feels a little cheap. But does it matter? The wonderful Trojan horse, that is the hub, is in my home... and I'm happy about it.

The rim is the wheel's only shortcoming, but happily I can, and will, willingly upgrade the rim, now that I have a full appreciation of what the product is capable of. Anyone else that has spent 500 big ones on a toy steering wheel, can no doubt afford to down the line, too."

Yeah I just cant see the average xbox owner pumping out well over $500 for a wheel. PC sim racer will throw down $500 for just a pedal set alone (CSTs). edit- And have no doubt they are sold out constantly just like Fanatec products

What Fanatec has to do is gradually get these xbox owners into more hardcore sim racing. And this is very hard because Microsoft is so restrictive. IT's cause of MS we have two wheels (CSW & CSR Elite) in the 1st place

I said it before and I'll keep saying it- Microsoft is no friend to sim racers. Their custom XID technology makes it so Fanatec has to pack in extra hardware to just work on their console. It's completely different tech from HID (PC & PS3). Next, Microsoft's anal button restrictions has somewhat gimped us console users in a big way

Of course MS has Forza 4 so we all have to take it up the rear if we want to play it properly

At least we've got the best shooters and best standard controller to play them with, though, eh? :sly:

Wow, 12 pages. I never thought my little video would get so much attention and even a comment from Thomas himself. Today is the first time I checked back to see if anyone noticed my review and I was blown away. Instead of adding to this thread which has been thrown off topic a dozen times already, I posted a follow-up to my review here now that I have had the wheel for a week.

Does anyone know what the rSr setting does?

Somehow I got in there by accident by pressing the start button and the one next to that for 5 seconds.

I'm afraid that I might have fiddled with the default position (it goes from 1-5), but now I can't seem to get the option up again. Pressing those two now just brings up the gear callibration.
