Or, because game development is a super complicated beast at the best of times before you even consider entirely new platforms, something has happened that has meant they have no choice but to push it back for the good of the players. You can set "realistic" dates all you like but when you're working with new platforms that have new features and changes that nobody has experience of you can't predict everything. Even the best manager could have added in a few months of bug fixing time and still run into an unexpected game blocking issue at the last minute. It has happened to me on projects before.
