Maybe the guy ramming you just thought "Oh God, the system is so bad, I'm not gonna follow the rules any more!" Please don't. If everyone tried to regard any collision as unintentional or partly to be blamed on himself first, the system would work best.

Personally, I've had my experiences with rammers, but only in one single case I am sure that it was on purpose. I never tried to raise my SR by not competing and I rarely drop down from 99 points. The rating system isn't so bad after all imho.

Well, after a clean race I'm back at C again. But yes, I will be one of those guys from now on. Sorry, but I can drive clean races. I was always backing off or just let you pass if you cut corners or hit me. But not anymore. And it feels like a relief. I even didn't dare to race anymore.

Group 3 has had a mixed bag of cars in the Asia/Oceania region. Super, super quick racing, too. I’m having to do 1.33s just to get on the podium.

Once again I'm getting a little suspicious about the whole race matching system... more like race fixing system! I was the only SR/S in there, and the grid was made up of mostly DR/A and B drivers. :yuck:

Racing clean is not about letting everyone pass.
But well, if you are in C with that attitude, we'll probably never see each other.

Yes you've got to try to win and at lower levels leaving room to let people past will just result in him being used as a brake all the time.

I don't mean block everyone by weaving but a bit of defence is ok.

If you are D/S (a very small pool) you will be grouped upwards to DR/A and B to make sure you race with S. I am a B and occasionally get a race with maybe 1 x A, 1 or 2 x B and the rest D. Happened at Brands Indy the other evening. It prioritises SR over DR. Good news for you, is if you beat one of the A or B you will gain masses of DR :)

This but actually lowering your safety rating to a mid A is probably a better idea if you want fairer races will drivers of a similar rank.

It doesn't quite seem to work like that. You not only have to beat them, but finish higher than your grid position. My points have only ever gone down if I haven't gained positions, regardless of who is behind me. :grumpy:

Not true. I've had plenty of races where I've lost positions and still gained DR. It is purely based on relative DR to other drivers, and each drivers finishing position

As @VeeDoubleU said... some people have done extensive research and it's all about where you finish and who you beat, not how many positions you gain.

I did not say that. The system is punishing me if you come way too hard on the inside and you hit me. I know that and those guys I let pass because they won't stop with that. I was worrying about my stats. Yesterday I was on 77 sr but in one race I made a mistake and ended up in the back of the field. They bumped me all over the place and my sr dropped hard. 2/3 races later I had some Spanish guys to fight with with great lag/bad connection and after 2 rounds I gave up and retired from the race. Bam, back at 42.

I pretty much have more understanding for those guys cutting corners. They don't get punished and take my place. And after a race and doing this several times while gaining position the game is telling you that I drove a fantastic race. It looks more and more as arcade to me..

And yes, we will probably never met on gts. But as long as you don't hit me or cutting my corners or bump me in the back you can recognize me as that very nice guy from the Netherlands that will give you back your place when making a mistake on you.

Edit: Okay, another clean race and ended up 4th after gaining 4 positions. From SR11 to 36 in two races.

If he/she is fast enough,. they can win clean. If they have to overdrive do try to win, DR:C or D is where they belong. Trying to win all the time is not the mentality to have. Improve yes, but winning is for the minority, although when it comes to video games, everybody seems to think they are entitled to "finish/max rank" the game.

I believe you should always try to win, even when it's impossible to do so but by that I don't mean ram everyone out of the way and cut corners and generally spoil everyone's race whilst doing so. Sometimes you do have to accept that other drivers are better than you, or have had a better race than you.

My post was mainly to encourage @Tarabass to defend their position a bit, especially by covering the inside in the main overtaking spots because at that level, they'll be a lot of drivers just throwing it down the inside wherever there is space and that will be causing avoidable issues, such as the unfair penalties to Tarabass. Don't ever quit on a race either, you are punished heavily for that, carry on and do the best you can.
 
1:35.720 in the M6 around Kyoto today I can't see how people are going so fast, I refuse to cut that chicane but must be able to gain time somewhere else?

Edit: just got 1:34.874, damn that was quick

Watching previous replays on koto, the best times were always when they had the best !! route through the chicane
 
So, today's race-A starts into the first corner instead of the start line. Pretty much the guy on pole is given fastest lap, unless someone is five seconds faster somehow.
 
There's almost no point in doing races as an S/S when there's no other S/S's in the lobby. I was just in a room as the lone S/S, with only a couple A/S, and the rest being a mix of B/S and C/S. I won pole, set fastest lap, and won with a clean race bonus and literally got less than 100 DR points. But if I got crashed out on the first lap by some dummy and finished 12th I'd lose probably 2000-3000 DR points and my SR would tank as well. Not even worth the trouble.

Yes the other day I won a few races from pole (all C at Interlagos) after I spun in the first but recovered to 3rd but in the middle I had a dc before warm up even loaded and a blue screen when I pressed warm up and that resulted in a net loss for the day, a tiny one but still and there were a few S drivers in some of the races but mostly As and Bs.

If I was just racing for DR rating they'd have been no point after all that time, lucky I wasn't.

My problem is if I'm just racing for fun I'll join a lobby with friends and we can have free reign over car choice, track selection, race length etc. I participate in Sport mode to race competitively and to try to win every single race. I like the idea of having driver ratings and statistics. To me without it there'd be no point to these daily races because otherwise there's nothing unique about them and they don't offer any sort of reward that's not attainable in any other part of the game. Even the payouts aren't great.

But both DR and especially SR are flawed.
 
Was in 5th place during the last few turns at Yami today, and got bumped at the hairpin.....dropped to 9th. And then at the last corner I get a divebomb (from a Brazilian nonetheless) and go off track....ended up finishing 12th! 5th to 12th in the last 30 seconds of the race! All I could do was laugh. :lol:

And yes - that M6 is ridiculous on that course. Beat my best time using the Z4, Vantage, and Porsche by 1 second easily.

Tried the Lexus and I would‘ve made a mid 31 if it wasn‘t for the game to start matchmaking 5 seconds too early :( :lol:

Did the FIA race, from P19 to P9 with the Ferrari, only bad thing there was I haven’t driven it before and unfortunately messed up the qualifying but recovered in the race and had a really clean race with a british guy in an NSX 👍
I then did two Kyoto races in the AMG (P12 to P9(?)) and the Lexus (P14 to P6(?)). Was good fun as everyone just removed himself on those two races and I managed to stay on track :D
