Six laps in the WRX, and I'm sat at 47.9xx around Catalunya. Not really driven this thing very often. Handles well, brakes well, not the fastest. More laps would have been nice. But, work early tomorrow, and the cats are about to starve to death. Apparently.

Back to the trusty Lexus for a good couple of hours, tomorrow. Current target is low 47s, or high 46s, I think.

It's bugging me slightly that I can't see where in Europe that puts me. Companion app doesn't seem to want to show me. Hopefully it'll update my time while I'm in bed.

I don’t know Catalunya very well at all, I’ve only ever run a handful of laps there before so it’s gonna take some getting used too, the Porsche looked like the popular choice early on so I gave it a go first. It’s not a bad track, and the Porsche does seem to work pretty well here, got it down to a 1:47.5 so far, I’m gonna keep working on this one though as Gr3 is not one of my stronger categories. :)



What other cars are good to try here?

I've heard the Porsche works really well here, and have you also looked at the other car... what's it from.. oh yeah, from Porsche? :lol:

I tried a few laps with the Viper. It can handle the turns alright, but it lacks the power... KAZ, BUFF THE VIPER.
 
The SRT Viper is cleaning up atm at Catalunya, doing 1:45 laps in race winning with a nice lead. I just got down to 1:48.5 in the 911, can't keep up!

I like the strict track limits which are consistent with the clean race limits. Currently at a clean streak of 4 while gaining positions. 4 laps is too short though, but it's nice not to worry about the tires falling off for a change.

It's a slow track, I feel like I'm stuck in second gear for most of it. Better than Fuji, is all good.
 
TT Cup is really cool. Bumper to bumper racing. Reminds me of ToCA 1.

If the Daily Race Crew(DRC) would do some Gr.4 fwd only and Gr.4 rwd only races, that could spice up the racing.

Gr.1 Autopolis, Alsace

Pre-1979 Classics at Nurb GP, Bathurst, Red Bull Ring

BoP with suspension tuning for both E30 M3, R32 GT-R

Stuff like that. It's not hard to put together.

Oh and more standing starts. It levelsbthings out instead of a 35m rolling start. Makes no dang sense for the field to be that spread out. Bunch everyone up this way everyone are pretty much in the front straight.

We all know, starting at the apex of a turn, is the cruelest thing PD are doing to Sport Mode players.

That's an interesting point. Standing starts have usually been reserved for the slow classes yet the recent SF and TT Cup races have both been SSs. I hope to see more of them.

I really don't like Auto-Drive very much. Unless you're near pole, it's luck of the draw to whether you're dropped in a favorable position or if it decides to throw you off the corner.

Yeh, I think @Sven Jurgens has the right idea... sit back at P16 and watch the 15 car pile up at T1 that will happen if you had your way :lol:.

I get the rolling start for Gr.3. It's like that in real life GT3. GT4 also have rolling starts. However, touring cars, in those type sprint races, usually have standing starts. The TT Cup is a good move.

F1 have standing starts. Formula 4 and I think SF do as well. Maybe Indy cars are probably the minority open wheelers, that do rolling starts.
 
After watching the top quali video's for Daily Race C and putting a few sessions in, I couldn't manage anything faster than a 2:09.3 with most of my laps being fairly consistent so I figured I'd give the race a go.

Started 2nd and managed to steal the lead with a perfect start, lead the opening laps while my heart tried to beat through my chest and I was laughing incessantly as the gap grew and grew. However, pole position was much more consistent and was able to reel me in once he managed to escape the pack he'd got caught in, especially as my race pace had dropped off from my qualifying pace (likely a result of my shaking hands) and I didn't even see a 2:10 until lap 7 and even managed a 2:09 on the final lap with the lightly worn tires.

My best result for GT Sport thusfar! Reinforcing my desire for the wheel, though, as my fingers cannot handle the minute inputs on the controller consistently when my adrenaline is racing like a rabid cheetah.

I finally got the Porsche under 1:47! I tried the R8 for a few laps and while it is definitely fast, it’s harder to control so I went back to the Porsche and ended up cashing in a 46.6, beating the cars Optimal by .5, it’s a fun track once you start to get the hang of it. :)




Edit: Also, when did the cars start spinning out properly? You never used to be able to save a spin out like this, the car would always just ended up facing backwards.


Anyone else notice spin outs also seem easier to catch now for some reason? I was catching this Porsche in places today that I don’t remember being able to do before.

It reminds me of Interlagos in some ways. Maybe that's why I adapted sooner than I expected.

I recently got into the 46s club with a 1.46:8 after switching to the Huracan. I don't enjoy driving the R8 so I tend to avoid it. I figured the 911 would be a nice pick for the track but I used it a lot last week so I wanted to switch things up a bit.

Also raced in the Huracan and got a podium/3rd place finish after a heated battle with a 911. I managed to somehow cleanly pass him at La Caixa on the last lap. Pretty fun race.
 
Race C should be one make with a supercar (which don't exist in sport mode unless they are downtuned). Fuji is not much of a thrill with the 86. Tracks like the original high speed ring (3.1km) would be great for N200 as it's fast, theres passing opportunities but also shorter.

On a positive note, At least shifters have been nerfed to make it a fair fight for controller users.

Upside to race C is you can easily drink beer during the long straight.

Okay, watched @Pigems quali screen cap and have concluded that I'm shifting too much. Good to know! It feels so wrong to let the 86 get so low in the rev range but that seems to be the definitive thing that's separating my laps from his (as I'm hitting all the same damn marks!)

Gonna go have another go!

The start at Suzuka is very similar to playing Russian roulette :banghead:

It's getting more and more aggressive, nothing but bumping all the way to the hairpin. And why not, the penalty system is so broken. One race I got bumped off twice by the same player. One a dive bomb at the chicane, bumped me into the green stuff and passed, no penalty. The other after the hairpin, rammed me off the road into the grass on the way to spoon. Again no penalty, blue S, keep doing what you're doing.

Meanwhile, when you get punted off at the start

There's the reason people don't slow down for traffic. 3 sec penalty, back to 20th place at the penalty zone.

You perform a brake-check (as clearly seen in your GIF) - and then you have the gall to go on-line and complain about getting rear-ended? Or did you really, after - what is it - 5000 races, believe you're supposed to brake before T3?

BTW, your never-ending complaints about "dirty drivers" made me make an account in the Americas (I'm an EMEA guy normally) to see for myself what it's like - and I must disappoint you that I haven't come across any of the filth you always keep whining and moaning about. But what I did come across was you. At Suzuka. I don't know if you were trolling or what was going on, but you didn't look like a particularly skilled player - maybe that's a part of your problem?

I get it that you're a doom and gloom kinda guy, but I really think you are doing the GTS community a disservice by the ceaseless, unwarranted complaints - I've had, and still have, incredibly good fun playing GTS on-line (something I didn't think was possible: fun and on-line multiplayer), and it is my hope that you don't chase prospecting players away with your negativity - if GTS was like you say it is I wouldn't play it!

I had not used this car in a long time, kinda forgot how nice it is to drive.

Races were pretty good today. Sure there were a lot of red ratings but things kept getting better as the evening progressed. I suspect the tight track limits have something to do with it in combination with the penalty zones. That 0.5 or 1.0 sec penalty you see some people get really hurts now. It's one or more positions lost next time around. The penalty system also works better with the tight track limits since it now immediately detects when someone gets bumped outside the lines.

I had some very close races in traffic and everyone behaved, no bumping, staying inside the lines. On this track, the threat of the penalty zone is definitely working. It could also be that people are still getting used to the track. As long as confidence <= ability races are pretty organized. We'll see later in the week what happens when overconfidence comes into play.

Best Monday for racing since a long time. The track is growing on me as well.

I'd switched cones on while I got used to the tracks and never got around to switching them off. Yesterday I did for race B because I know the track fairly well from recent playing of F1 2017/18.

I immediately improved! I don't know why but think it's something to do with concentrating and watching the track rather then looking at the sides all the time watching out for the cones..... weird!

I understand that. But the people who do not have cones on still hit and cause the cones to fly to those that do have cones? Hence why I find it weird that they can interact with something they cannot see.

Imagine not having cones on but knowing where they are, "hitting" them and then laughing when you see a car behind you go flying because of the cone you hit without actually hitting.

Or is it just that the people who interact with them are also those who have cones on?

I turned my cones off during the beta and have left them off since and have had no problems...jus sayin
