Just got back from the C race.

Used the Toyota Supra Racing Concept. I had the fuel map to 2 for a majority of the race. Upped it to 3-4 in the twistier bits of Nordschleife.

I started in 2nd, but the poor soul in 1st place got disconnected in lap 2.
3rd place was on my tail for quite some time until he made a mistake and finished 7 seconds behind me.

1st place finish, and I won 700 DR bucks.

E - looking at the replay, (lap 1 turn 1) someone almost punts me, but they BARELY miss me and the person behind me. Braked way too late and somehow goes right in between us.

@Stencedaddy Ben and sdi believe that forcing you to last place due to damage would have made your race better. Care to chime in?

according to @Ben Hunt , someone who can't control their car will lose more races. ignoring that the same argument should in theory tank DR and SR and doesn't, we will choose to ignore that. but it will work for damage.

additionally, to counter your single occurrence video @sdi_03 has encountered 99,999 cases of someone intentionally punting him.

Damage makes perfect sense. In the real world, racing is a percentage game. Someone who can't control their car will get trashed all the time and dive in the DR. If GTS is a sim, rather than an arcade game, then simulate real life. I think it's a no-brainer.

That is just opposite what I have encountered. 99.999% of punts I have recieved, are intentional and planned.
Damage would be bad for all at the start, but I'll bet that the racing would be cleaner in no time.

Each accident that has multiple parties has a victim. The solution can't punish the victim harder.

The Subaru is very fast in the Nurb, but only for qualifying.
I've got a 8:19.165 as a quali lap, which is very fast. However, it has a slight understeer in most corners and is VERY, very fuel hungry. Could barely complete the race on 0 stops and had to turn the fuel to 6 at the end. And I short shifted for the entire race.

Using the WRX in Race C myself, and can do a no stopper using nothing lower than FM2. Granted, I ain't quick, but I finish the race before the countdown ends, but a FM1/FM2 no stopper is very achievable.

DR bucks, I like it!

Short session at Suzuka. 2:10.201. Realistically, I think there's another .500/750 in it. Maybe a second.

Faster than one of those fancy youtuber types? Lovely.

Slower than my manager's boyfriend, though. I'll outpace him tomorrow. Recovering from the flu gets more tiring as you age, apparently.

Now that I've got a new job, I'm not sure I'm gonna play a whole lot this week. Back to track practice, because Suzuka still eludes me after all this time, especially the esses. First lap I managed was a 2:13. **** time, but was still faster than my previous Gr. 4 record. Finished my session with a 2:12:592, with an optimal barely in the 2:11.

In other news, I'm now at 11 million credits for my quest for the XJ13.

XJ13 is a beautiful car. Got two from dailies the day after it came out.

Agreed, almost all contact I receive is in the form of dive bombs in turn 1, intentional weaving on a straightaway to block clearly faster cars passing and bump drafting, all of which is obviously intentional and easy not to do. Those things happen at least 10x as often as someone misses a brake point and bumps me or accidentally takes up too much track when we're otherwise racing cleanly.

Man, having someone behind you is so daunting at the ring because it feels like I'm invisible to other drivers. I signal to people behind to overtake me, move far too the side as I possibly can (I'm okay with this, you're faster than me or I'm fuel saving and you're not) and I still get rammed/punted into. Babyrage aside, my next visit was more positive.

I chose my trusty 4C, while not the fastest, I'm more consistent with it, great on fuel and is able to keep pace well while saving. I'd wager you could not short-shift for 1/4 of the track and still be fine on fuel. I like this flexibility since if there's a collision between others, I can "run away" by not short-shifting to gain extra speed I may need to get as far away as possible. It helped in one situation where two drivers ahead had a falling out between each other. One knocked the other off into the sand around Adenauer Forst and while the punter readjusted himself on the track, I went flat-out, overtook him and gained a 2 second window.

My race went well overall, gained several positions during Lap 1 by simply staying out of trouble and not sticking my nose into packs of drivers. Fast-forward to Lap 2, smiling at cameras and spectators, I'm 5th place yet it's never all sunshine and rainbows, I manage to 360 spin out along Hedwigshöhe, dropped 2 places and ended 7th which despite the hiccup, is my best finish so far this week.

Damage definitely would have completely killed the race but I rage quit a few turns later anyways. The solution is find a way to detect out of control and malicious cars better. Its either that or increase ghosting and nobody wants that. the system should be able to tell that his car was out of control before we made contact.

PD also needs to turn off the huge wall penalties. It just punishes people who already screwed up more than anything. You crash and lose a bunch of time/positions but oh by the way you can lose another 5+ seconds on the next straight. Just kills your race.

Jumped on the game just in time to see 1 minute left until matching for Suzuka and went right in. Huge mistake. Started on pole with zero practice and promptly spun out in the 2nd corner. Fell back to 12th, grabbed 9th exiting the chicane coming to the finish. Let's not do that again...

The only thing I don't like about this idea is this will bring out the wall-riders if there is no significant penalty. But I also feel your pain.

Keith.

2nd race, started 3rd and promptly went off at T1. Fought back up to 4th and then binned it coming out of Spoon on the last lap. This is just not my night.

Happy with the top 10, but that Ford GT knocked me off, TWICE, after losing it on the grass and jumping back onto the track TWICE! Incredible!

SO easy in the F1. NO fuel save. 0.2 laps left in the tank. If I start up closer to the start line, I bet I'll have more fuel to push harder. Especially if I don't get knocked off the track twice(unless that also helped me to save fuel).

Some good results today climbing out of SR.D
II0d.jpg

The first race already raised my SR from 15 to 49, rest of the races were worth 12 SR each. (Big boost at SR.D) There were some nice battles in the first lap with the one stoppers, clean passes in SR.B yay. The one in SR.D was no race, another 50 sec lead at the end, yet after there was some competition.

Unfortunately when I got to SR.A the clean passes were over. I'm currently racing the Ferrari and have 3 fails so far, barge pass giving me SR Down, punted at T1, rammed into the wall at the entry to the Nord. Higher SR means worse driving. I quit the last one since I had 6 sec of unfair penalties already entering the Nord, lower SR is better anyway when starting at the front. Everything is backwards in this game.

So far, my laps with fuel saving:

8:28.966 Lexus RC F (7% left)
8:29.450 Corvette
8:30.220 Toyots Supra (out of fuel)
8:33.997 Dodge Viper
8:34.418 BMW M3 Power (out of fuel)
8:39.685 McLaren 650S

The Supra would have been better, but ran out of fuel at the end. Same with the BMW in which I got my qualifying time down to 8:19.870. Fast in qualifying, not enough fuel for the race. The Lexus sits on top and I could have been faster in it with all that fuel left over. The Ferrari had even more fuel left over at the end despite getting punted off twice, you don't need to save much in that one. However the tires are still a problem in the Ferrari, never buy one of those, death trap! It's no good for quick avoiding accidents, prone to sliding.

The race I quit is done, SR back down to 54 from those 2 faulty penalties and quitting early. Is it low enough to find some respectful drivers... It could also be too late to find clean races, it only got worse yesterday as the evening went on.

I got a victory in the Ferrari, unfortunately no clean bonus. It's the only car where tire wear is already an issue on lap 2. It got away from me, almost lost my lead and brought my lap time down to 8:37. Try again. Back to SR.A hmm. (While it's clean ish at the front in lower SR, from 4th down it's red ratings... better quit when you get punted and end up in that)

Good to share the track with you tonight Player. Good little back and forth in our 1st race. That was fun. You made me push hard that last race lol.

Edit: The :gtplanet: fam is out in full force tonight. Just shared the track with @NosOsH. Well watched him get the dub lol. Think I finished 5th in that one. Either way good to run with someone from here :D.
