I was about to drop my time down to 3:24.1xx. Then I binned it at the final chicane.

Smoke. Tea. One more session, then bed.

Kinda feel like SR can **** off if I'm gonna be losing it before I cross the start line.

You hit the nail on the head for me. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun combo but it's like racing on eggshells in terms of SR. There's no real safety net for an SR down or two since SR point gain is so minimal here. Throw in the DR discrepancy BS; e.g. DR D is less likely to be punished for punting off a DR B and you could end up with a recipe for disaster.

I've had to recoup SR on Interlagos of all places.

The Mercedes is about as useless as the Jag. I did get a 3:31.7 best lap in it, better than the Jag, but burned too much fuel on that lap, ran out before the finish, timed out. It needs extreme short shifting to make it, as soon as the bar starts showing, rather just before and stay in higher gears through corners to make it. It does have better brakes than the Jag, but due to lack of fuel, not going anywhere.

BOP is seriously flawed with fuel management. Hybrids have 2 sources of power vs old inefficient engines in GR.C. There is no balance when fuel management is the object of the race.

One more GR.C car to try, 787B, also bad on fuel so not expecting much.
Better than the others except the 962C. Best lap of 3:31.0 with extreme short shifting.

GR.C order for this week:
1. Porsche 962C
2. Mazda 787B
3. Nissan R92CP
4. Sauber Mercedes C9
5. Jaguar XJR-9

962C simply wins for having the best fuel mileage.

now that i have a wheel and shifter, i really hate that i cant use it in sport for the group c cars. paddle shifting the sauber/787b/r92 doesn't feel right at all lol. i tried qualifying for C with the lm55 but i kept bottling it.

interlagos is pretty peaceful once you get punted to last. people cant help it. they can ram you off the track and take the 3 seconds and still be 3 seconds ahead due to you getting reset/back on track.

I found that managing the fuel in the 962 was easier than in the 919...

Couldn't beat my 25.263 in France. Optimals are now approaching low/mid 23s, which is annoying.

Although, not quite as annoying as @Leftcurl setting a 3:25.261 Q time. Two thousands of a second. That's going to annoy me, until I get home tomorrow.

Between Sarthe and Suzuka, I've only done that around 47,362 times :banghead:

Likewise.

Honourable mentions to Dunlop, Degner 1, and Spoon at Suzuka, and Mulsanne corner, and Arnage at la Sarthe.

I think this must be the most intense race I've ever had on GT Sport:

With the Toyota you have to be so aggressive in traffic, any second you're not tucked in the slipstream could mean you lose touch with the quicker cars or fall to the back of a queue where you can't recover (with other cars you can pace yourself more). When everything falls your way it can be a giant killer.

This evening I decided to invade France.
I planned a pincers move with my Sauber coming in from the south, the problem was the enemy cut my supply lines and I was forced to detour for fuel.
I managed a qual that was good enough for a seventeenth place start, miscalculating fuel and getting fresh tires for no reason meant a time out before the end.
Looks like it takes a 24 or so for a reasonable start so I’m a good 3-4 seconds behind.
I donated quite a few points I am sure and my A is getting dim lol.
To add insult to injury after my pit, in last by like a minute I decided to go off track for kicks and collect a five second pen.
BRILLIANT
I can’t really race there, have to use all driving line cones markers brake indicator, but it IS fun to drive. Im not sure what I did on fuel, I was mid lap three and up a couple spots due to people going off, and I revved out a couple times BOOM half a tank to nothin.
Maybe I will give the Porsche c car a shot next time I race.
I think without ability to invest a lot more time it will be tough to maintain dr if I race for fun and not cherrypick entries. There’s tons of hungry drivers out there improving happy to be there for my dr donations.
It’s been a fun ride pushing towards higher rating, I was into it, but In reality I’m pretty much down to just race and not care.
I mean I got 16th tonight, but it was fun. There’s something about racing humans. It’s really fun.
The enemies occupying France really have a stronghold right now.
These guys are quick.
I have yet to decide if I will invade Brazil or not. I’ve taken a lot of territory there in the past, but also received a courtmarshal for disobeying orders and laying waste to some innocents....

Stay thirsty, my friends.

I found that managing the fuel in the 962 was easier than in the 919...

It is oddly fuel efficient compared to the other GR.C cars as well. Perhaps it had a bigger tank in real life. At some point PD set all car's tank sizes to 100L standard and I guess adjusted fuel efficiency to compensate for the difference. Last year I was trying to figure out the size of the tank in each car since it affected pit time. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...n-list-tire-usage.372334/page-3#post-12169213 PD patched it so pit time is now always the same for the same percentage of fuel. (the next day lol, see 2 posts lower)

Anyway no 919s on the track, only fuel efficient cars allowed this week!

I had one good race in the 962C, 8th place finish, 12 positions gained, best lap of 3:29.0, clean race bonus, great race. Then the next one, rammed 3 times by laggy cars. First lap a 1 bar zips around me at the first chicane, I get 2 sec penalty simply trying to drive steady with a car buzzing randomly around/through me... Next lap a laggy car at Indianapolis bumps me to the left where you can't brake, I end up in the gravel with SR Down. Lap after I get punted at Indianapolis by a laggy car all the way into the back wall, again SR Down for me. Not only are you always at fault when you stay on the road, have higher DR or SR, but also when you have a better internet connection. :banghead:

Daily B.
Yesterday I ran only one race but it was very close one. I tried to catch a little slipstream but the last corner to the main straight is not the best friend of my Viper or my driving/accelaration skills.
On the second lap I braked too early missed the apex of the first corner (oversteer...) and I got a .5 second penalty (my only penalty) for corner cutting => -2 position :( .
Started at 7th, half time of the race 4th (was a little Mortal Kombat/Tokyo Drift in front of me), in the end... 6th :( .
[off]I can't keep positions. If I overtake someone he catches up 2-3 corners later and takes back the position. I ran 21 races so far with 0 succesful overtake.[/off]

(Can I show racer names or should I make them unreadable?)

I really can't race at the moment because my brakes have a faulty PCB evidently; I am soon to send them off for repair. So all I have done recently is build up some funds, racing at an oval and at LeMans in the XJ13.

So with just two races against the robots being run, it should be easy for me to pick up a physics change (except for accurate braking issues and trail braking). But at both tracks the cars feel different - they slide more and are more sensitive to the throttle IMO. Interesting. I think I like the changes too although I am unsure if the cars that I drove are faster or slower when I get used to them with proper brakes.

I just did a daily in order to bring SR up from 89. I did race A, Miata @ Tsukuba. Usually get like 4 SR points (iirc) for a 100% clean race but this time my clean race gave me 10, just maxed me out. Wonder if the formula there has been changed. Would like to see if others can report in about this.
