Had a few races with you and Wifi password last night. Not sure how I got put in with you guys, but it was fun racing!

Does TCS 5 help that much? I found I managed to go a bit faster with it off, as it wasn't causing me to understeer as much.

TCS off with the kart is too stressful for me and it feels less realistic than TCS 5.

A 125ccm-kart in real life is drivable. In GT Sport with TCS off it isn't.

Drift into the corner and drive straight out helps to prevent understeering.

And don't use the G29.

Not going to lie: as annoying as it is to have to barely move the wheel to steer the kart, it's a ton of fun to use...
Unless if you are me and you are trying to break the (insert time here) barrier.

I had to adjust the settings on the wheel (in the game) in order to use it. Once I got a hang of it, it's a fun little thing to drive. If you go wide enough, you barely have to brake (but look who I'm telling).

I've recently started playing GTS again. I couldn't get into it when it first came out - it was the idea of starting again I think and going back to no wheel. Anyways, I got Wheel Hub a couple of months ago and breathed new life into my trusty old DFP and the game, and I've been scanning though the odd GTP forum again to see what's going on.

After some extremely frustrating races over the weeks, a few runs on last week's Swifts@Nordschleife got me to SR A which so far seems to have filtered out most of the dive bombers and d***heads. Indeed, I has a great tussle with a Dutch player on the Nord which restored my faith in humanity .

I've only tried a couple of Willow races this week - a full D/A, D/B race got me a 7th to 2nd, then with supreme confidence from the podium place I went into the next race for a 6th to last. Just kept sliding off the track :banghead:.

I notice we are still at the mercy of variable grip levels when playing on line; there's a definite difference from qualifying and its seems it can change from race to race.

Welcome back and agree with you regarding the difference between qualifying and racing with how differently it can be with the grip.

Thank you!

I drove with ABS "off" (but it is never completely off) and BB 5.

Hmm, ABS off.. I'll have to give that a try later tonight.

I was trying out the kart with TCS 5, and I felt too restricted, so I put it back on 0.
A thousand spins later, I finally got into the 55 second range. Definitely doable, but don't be like me and go insane over it!

Is TCS 5 really faster with the kart? I am pretty decent at Tsukuba but I am completely stuck at a 56.2 lap time. Had one decent race and finished 2nd, next race had Turismo-Lester in it, and my wheel disconnected on lap 1 and I finished last. Of course I was knocking on the 40K DR door again when this happened.

Put in a few more laps on the TT and got it down to 16.950, that’s only .050 outside the top 10 , so that should do well for the first few days of the week at least. Time to race, next race B starts in T minus 12 min. :)

Nice lap!
Just curious: you frequently use brake and gas at the same time, or just for TT? And why?

Thanks! It’s just a habit I picked up somewhere along the line, I don’t even realize I do it half the time. Possibly from driving MR cars a lot? I’m not sure if it’s actually beneficial or not in anything outside an MR car, it does help to keep the rear in check in MR cars though. :)

I still can't get under 1.18 at willow. I don't know why but like i keep saying, i am off pace in the race cars. I should be at least .5 faster judging by my friends list..... tried the lambo and am about to try the tt, stupid fwd.....

That's left foot braking. For FWD and AWD cars it shifts the weight over driving steering wheels, so you can control the inherent understeer. Useful for say... the TT ;).

No. I didn't have to refuel with the 1980s prototypes. The 962 can go full throttle all race. The Jag I had to short shift before pitting to get me more fuel(an extra 0.5 laps) and map 3 for my out lap, for a full throttle push to the finish for the last two laps.

The C9 required me to use map 3 from pit stop to the penultimate lap and full throttle from the last lap.
I have done a no stop with the 919 just a bit of short shifting for 1st 3 or 4 laps then you can go full out. I only had about a 1/4 of tires reaming on the front (soft) by the finish which I came in 2nd started 6th B/S room

If it helps, I tried all my usual suspect Gr.4 cars and was struggling for pace. I then tried the TT, which is difficult for me as I don't enjoy the FF cars at all. That said, I put BB to +5 and managed a 1:17.3

The understeer isn't too bad. The only corner I really struggle with is the tight right hander at the top of the hill. Other than that I actually found it quite a good drive. Certainly has pace down the straights!

Couple of other tips.

Don't brake for turn 3. Take a wide line in and ease off the throttle. Hug the inside balancing your line using the throttle. I stay in 5th gear, not sure if that's best or not.
For the long final corner, hug the inside until you see the brake boards. Then swing to the outside and brake gently at the 150m board. Kinda trail brake around the corner and get on the throttle as soon as you can through the apex.
The other critical corner is the downhill right/left onto the back straight. There's curb on the right hand side. Get as close as you can to that (aliens put two wheels in the dirt), and brake at the end of the curb. Down to third, get to the left hand apex and back on the gas as soon as you can.

Hope that helps :)

The NSX is a nice compromise between the two. It handles well. Believe it or not, the Viper actually isn't too bad at Willow.

Irl a modern water cooled 125 shifter is a serious piece.
Not many can get out what the machine is capable of.

Been doin a little more qualifying at Willow, this morning. When you leave the pavement, even in an all-wheel drive, staying on the throttle aint gonna do you any good, ever. Here's an example of what it will get you.

Well.....

I switched to the TT and put on some music. Managed to trim my time little by little down to a 1.17.659 with an optimal of .414. Thanks for the pointers guys, mostly confirmed what i thought but it still helps to reinforce it and give more confidence to your line.

Soundtrack for fastest laps....

Filter - under
Probot - shake your blood
Trivium - becoming the dragon
Pro-Pain - take it back

With a special mention to No-Fx, don't call me white. I was on pace for a .3something with this song, but i blew the last corner....

Time to make another coffee then i might actually try racing

Are you using the top 10 ghosts? I did around 10 laps on my own. Then 10 laps stalking Lester's ghost. Picked up a lot of time.

Nice work!! You need some Power Metal though Bro, it’s like a RebBull for your ears, try one of these.

@0604 I certainly am sir. I love this feature and it was something i have done in any game i can. My buddy and i, yeah the same guy i always mention who still plays, used to chase eachothers ghost on the couch all night "back in the day".

I was amazed it took this long for gts to implement it tbh

@Pigems i do like me some power metal, dont really know that much though. Allow me to listen while making that coffee.....

I just got into it at the end of last summer, but I’m hooked now! The only problem is it’s hard to find more of it, this is what I have so far, the better stuff is towards the top of the list. 👍

All the music talk . . I'll have to listen to something while doing Race C later. Maybe Flammenrausch . . No change of song mid race, just 22 minutes of folk/black metal godliness.

Well that explains a lot. @Pigems is driving to Death Metal. I'm driving to "Dream Machine".

Yeah man, gotta have some pace to the music, I think Dragonforce runs at around 200/220 BPM usually, it really gets the blood flowing! I do feel bad for their drummer though, he must be absolutely dead after a live show.

Nice!! That would be an awesome live show!! I can only imagine the energy in the room when Through Fire and Flames starts up! :D

The drummer must lose 10lbs per show at least.

I'm not sure about rooms. Energy in the field was pretty good, though.

Actually, that's a lie. I saw them with Machine Head, and Arch Enemy indoors once, too. Great atmosphere there, as well.
