I didn’t have as much time to race yesterday as I thought I would, but I was able to put up a 1:16.6 for Race B and a 1:37.1 for Race C. I was pretty happy with those and was able to get a couple wins on each track.

For Race B, I first tried the Mustang and got a 1:16.9, then went back to the 86 and shaved a few tenths off. I still feel like I can squeeze another tenth or two out of it, but I’ll settle for a top 25 time in Gr.4, which is probably the best I’ve ever done in this class.

For Race C, I went back and forth between the Peugeot 908 and the Audi R18 2016. I was running similar laps in each of them so I think they are both capable qualy cars but I had the most success with the R18 in race on a no-stop strategy. Tried qualy with the Alpine but just can’t get the hang of it, maybe I’ll try again today. I also tried the no-stopper with the Toyota TS050 and even though no fuel-saving is required in that car, the tires were too bad at the end for my liking due to it being AWD. I did get beat in a couple races by guys on a one-stopper strategy in both the R18 and the Toyota so I may experiment with that today as well.

I tried two kart races with my mediocre time of 56.8, and while I did have fun, I got pushed around both races and ended up in walls or on the grass several times by people not using radar or simply not caring about so much contact, so I moved on.

I did see @Qyn and @Chevy Heavy in a couple races. Cheers fellas! Looking forward to seeing more of you guys out there later today/tonight.

Old age starting to creep in?

Maggiore is fun if you can make the softs last full distance. Stopping loses you 15 seconds, so you need the no stoppers to make mistakes, if you pit.

Naw, I just can’t get the 86 below 17.3, so I’m stuck using TT for now and everyone else is dropping their times and getting faster in the 86, so I’m starting farther and farther back on the grids now which means there are less points to gain and it brings the possibility of getting hit off while in the mid pack. So basically more risk, less reward.

I was leaning towards C, what’s the top car right now? TS050? I haven’t even done anlap there yet this week.

🤬 that, the 1 stop is way more fun :dopey: I do enough conservative driving in FIA as it is and I'll take any opportunity to viably run the aggressive strategy :D

No offense btw lol

@Pigems: When I did my last race on Monday evening, the winner ran the 1-stop in the R18. P2 no-stopped the same car and I was the only TS050 on the podium with the 1-stop. Car preference depends on whether you want to drive flat out or do a little bit of fuel / tire saving, the R18 and TS050 are pretty close on race pace. Traffic plays a role as far as strategy goes. If you qualify well, I would recommend the 1 stop because you're less likely to run into slower cars after the stop. :)

So i was just trying to get my flow back for today and i accidentally did this....

Now i need to get a sub 17 damnit! lol
I was using your old time as a benchmark to go race. Now everyone on my friends list is a full second faster. Wait for me....

RE: Horse Thief Mile with Karts. I didn't mean to dis it. I just suck at it. Like really, really suck at it. I've never even tried it.

This morning I won 7 races, and 3 2nd places, but the most exciting for me was at 9:10 where the best of the Americas qualifying standings, Turismo-lester appeared. It was a thrilling race from start to finish where I was second about 1.3 seconds behind him, he was supposed to be behind the wheel, and me with Dualshock 4, I did my best, and on top of that I got the fastest lap of all, it was extremely epic. If he is on this topic it was an honor to run against him.

Best advice I got all week was when I was driving a bunch of cars couldn't figure out what car I was gonna use for the desert, and @Pigems suggested to just go with what's most comfortable for me. And as a corollary ;), I also quit screwing around with the brakes and the gear shifting. BB set to 0 and shifter in Drive: finally into the 1:16s. 👍

I've done about 100 laps of Big Willow and have decided that a 1:16 is impossible.

You're all cheating.
I am constantly cheating. I did actually try to jump my car from turn 3 to turn 5, but it doesn't work. :grumpy:
After 100 laps, I was not very close to 1:16. I just started to get into the 1:16s this morning. I've done it about 4 or 5 times now, but I've probably logged about 300, or so laps since this race was announced last week.
You just need to try it about 200 more times. 👍

I was not able to hit a sub 17 time this morning but i did have two really good races after getting my flow back on that track. No way i am gonna hit A+ this week, enjoying the race though

I find the TS030 TO BE GOOD FOR A NO STOPPER. You can absolutely thrash that car around the track will make on fuel and tires will be good. Not as fast as the 50 but does not have that annoying oversteer in tight corners

You've all got me questioning my life choices. I might take a +ve BB for a spin. Hold that thought.

Tried the 86 at BB -3. Took a while to get the hang of the way it turned in after +3 BB, and I had to change the settings on my wheel slightly, but got my time down to 1:17.529 and getting frequent laps under 1:18.

I also stopped going up to 6th at the final turn and with that I was more consistent at this part of the track.

Time to go racing on my second account. Its gotta be game over if you get tapped off on to the dirt here!

Well, tonight could be the night it happens, the wife works until 11pm tonight so I’ve got all evening to race, and I only need 4K to hit the magical 50k now. I’ve lost my edge at Willow now though, everyone is catching up and passing me Q time wise, started 5th in both of last nights races, so I’ll probably get worse starts tonight if I can’t improve my time. I’m debating on trying one of the other two possibly?
you can do it use my secret lines ;)

So tonight I'll finally see you on the track! I usually get to race between 7 and 10 but since the kids are on school holiday my window keeps shrinking. I'll achieve my goal before you though, only 170 DR to go (to DR.B ) I was just starting to earn DR with 8th place finishes from the back in A+/A rooms yet got disconnected again this morning in a weak room, ouch.

So perhaps I won't see you at all if I get demoted to the B/S rooms where I'll have the highest DR again and will sink only further. At least the rooms are still strong until 10, plenty points to pick up in the fast split.

I got the clean bonus in the TT Cup this morning before getting disconnected in the Citroen GT. TT Cup is indeed the fastest I've gone yet around the Willow. 86 is coming up soon ish. I'm probably rubbish with it. I enjoyed driving the MacLaren around, not the fastest but instantly clicked.

I just did my first race since the update, and the explanation for time penalties is fine I guess. Who cares. You know if you cut a corner or knocked somebody off the track. What would be wayyyyy better is an explanation for SR downs. I got hit twice and lost SR each time. :grumpy:

A swing and a miss for PD.

What I don’t get is why it says you’ve ”ignored” track limits instead of saying you’ve “exceeded” track limits, the word ignore implies that you did it on purpose does it not?

Man, the customer I’m working for right now showed us her antique car today after work, wow! She’s got a 1940 Buick Soup(I think that’s what she called it?), it’s Navy Blue, has a straight 8, 3 on the tree and is completely original other than a new convertible( Rene colour) top she had made for it last year, she’s owned it since 1965, what a beautiful car!! :)

Straight 8... Glorious, sounds lovely. Didn't the Duesenbergs have straight 8s? They sound like prop planes.

Reminds me of a story my dad has - he worked for a used car salesman and made a delivery of a Jaguar XJS V12 - or at least, a V12 on the straights. When he went around corners the offside cylinder bank would drop out, momentarily making it a 45 degree inclined straight six. I wish GT could simulate that ^.^

Had some fun races at Big Willow last night. Bookended by flag to flag victories by @Winnie847 and @iGoFast . Chasing lester instead of his ghost isn't as fun because at least I keep his ghost in sight for one lap. The first race of the night didn't go too well as I started behind Winnie but let 3rd by and lost several positions. Also played around in the sandbox a little that race. After that I got my bearings back and had several podium finishes. The races were pretty clean with a few bumps here and there. Did manage my first win in nearly a year as I've been away for awhile.

This is my reset car. I can't remember the combo, but I put the car in primer to go racing and after several rough and tumble races I was given the old reset to D/E. So I left the car unpainted to remind myself that I never want to let that happen again.

Second account

Race Bs in the Toyota 86

First race

No qually time – started 15th from 15.
Pole was 1:17.085! My main account qually time would have put me mid-grid.
B/S drivers only.
Finished 12th.
One off at last corner - my fault, no contact – lost a place. Someone nearly took me out as they returned from the Gobi Desert! They bumped me on the left door, which helped them make the corner. I kept it on the black stuff and had to pull in behind them. Blue SR.

Second race

No qually – started 15th from 16.
Pole 1:17.083.
All B/S drivers.
More of mixed grid of cars – saw Aston, Jag, Megane, Lambo, TT and 86.
Finished 9th.
I had two SR downs, so ended up red. First, I went into the back of someone as he braked earlier than I expected into turn 3. Neither of us went off. That’s my racing inexperience, but I also noticed the next lap the 50m marker had gone – so that could have confused him. Second, not sure why I got SR down, but same driver as first one. He took a tight line into turn 1 and went wide, I took normal line so carried more speed. I overtook him on outside as we turned into turn 2. I got SR down there. Maybe we touched and I didn’t notice. His car was a bit glitchy, so I was glad to see it in my mirrors.

Third race

No qually 15th from 16
Pole 1:17.014
All B/S drivers
Most 86s, Audis and Lambos. Someone in a Mazda. Another in a NSX, which was fast in close combat, but he seemed to get unlucky in traffic and an Audi sent him off track.
Finished 5th!!
Carnage mid-pack! 5 or 6 cars in close combat. I mostly kept out of trouble. White SR.

Three races: DR down about 220. SR down 2.

Notes:
Good fun and close racing. Restored my interest in racing a bit.
No penalties that made me think someone was a total muppet!
Track ‘feels’ like it does in qually. I often think track is more slippy in a race.
NSX might be worth a try.
Clearly B/S drivers need to get their qually time down to low 1:17s to be near the front of the pack. Next time, I'll set a qually lap on my second account and start mid-pack to see if I can get my DR to creep up a little.
