i'm quite amazed by the number of very fast players (i mean A+ / S) rage quit at the first mistake they make

It always confuses me, too. I had a terrible pair of races last night. Lost approx 3000DR, and 40 odd SR.

I'd much rather carry on, and pick up as many positions as possible. Especially somewhere like DTS, with the chicane of death.

@Leftcurl I came at you, bro.

Just had the same thing happen to me last night .

I can beat that.

2 Race B's yesterday and it was like ping pong. I even got a 4 second penalty for "Spinning A Car Off Track", when I hit the wall coming out of the Esses before the banked right turn.

They hit me whilst I was off the track, spun themselves, hit the same wall, and bang....penalty and SR down for me. Nothing to them!

Sticking to Race C in the Evo. It's just a little safer than Race B, and more SR to gain.

Hate Dragon Trail with a passion (this isn't hating the track per se, I've just never got on with it so barely raced there!). Done a couple of races and the combination of track and heavy fuel saving just doesn't work for me. I've always been MILES off the pace there and while I've thrown in a decent qualifying time and regularly lap low 1.46s in practice in the Lambo I just can't carry any speed into the race. I either save fuel and go slower than my name suggests... or go flat out and end up having a prang or get into a fight overtaking a fuel saver that ruins my race completely. Might practice with one of the good fuel saving cars (Jag or Lexus) until I can get solid qualy times*

* or see if I can qualify well for what is bound to be a procession in Race A!!

And also, like Race B with Gr 3s back in June at Bathurst, isn't the track surface very slippery, and has that "damp" sheen to it? Maybe we should try a race on intermediates, just for fun! :D

Also, the "bumps" don't help! :dopey:

Those bumps definitely help.

Maybe they don't help concentration levels/consistency/speed. But yano, they help.

There needs to be a new etiquette video about racing room. Players seriously can't cope with being overtaken. I mean, you are conserving, of course I'm gaining because, I've got 5 lap fresher tyres and more fuel to burn!!!

I've had big trouble with the opposite, especially on the Sardegna Gr3 Race C a few weeks back. I'm slower and conserving fuel for no-stop, I'm leaving acres of room and often driving off line or on the outside to give prime space to the faster drivers who will need to pass me, constantly being observant about who's around. Doesn't stop the faster drivers from purposefully going out of their way to push me off or use me as their brakes in corners. I don't understand the mentality - there's no need for contact when I'm literally handing them the place because they're so obviously gonna pass anyway.

Finally managed to get a long overdue win in race C.

After trying several times to no-stop or go flat out in the Cayman, NSX and Lambo, I gave the Jaguar a go for a change and went flat out from P3. Pitted lap 5 for fuel and tyres and rolled across the the finish line in 18:46. Can't really tell you what went differently from the previous 1000 attempts, other than a lot of mistakes from everyone else gave me the win.

In this race I started P2. umped to P10 by the end of lap 1.

Middle of lap 3 after the esses there were wrecks and I barely dodged a car shooting sideways on the track. P8 by the end of lap 3

Pitted at the end of lap 5. Dropped to P13.

Lap 6, overtake to P12, then overtake to 9th due to people pitting at the end of 6.

By end of lap 7, advanced to P7 due to people pitting.

Lap 9 overtook a racer resetting to p6, then overtook a racer on a different FM, conserving gas after the chicane to P5.

Lap 10 on the final turn, P4 ran out of gas. I pass him to get P4 for the finish.

How can the design of races at Tsukuba be improved? I think a longer race duration when at that course would help discourage people from making a "mad dash" and dive-bombing, etc. when racing there. I also think that N200 cars or lower should be racing there, and even then, only a very specific section of N200 cars (e.g. no tuner cars like the Roadster Touring Car that was added). Meanwhile, cars above that metric (including all the "staple" groups) should only be at Tsukuba in the context of a time trial, much like how the real-world course is often used for time attack events. I think in a similar vein, the current Sport Mode time trial where you use the Roadster Touring Car at Suzuka East is what I had in mind for using that car (and similar cars) at both Suzuka East and Tsukuba, as well as Kyoto Miyabi, Northern Isle, and other smaller courses.

EDIT: I also stand by my belief that light damage with realistic slipstream & off-road traction should be a constant, as should be 1x tire/fuel consumption versus either having it entirely off, or having it accelerated to inconsistent amounts. It's Sport Mode, not a kiddie pool.

But still 99 SR. 👍

Drink more.
That was quite a while ago, the race C that week was Gr.2 at Suzuka. After I got reset, I did that race and gained 56 SR points in 1 race (it's pretty ridiculous that you can gain it back so quickly). I think it was the third race where I got back to S.

Anyways, I ran into Sven there, and he asked how I got to SR E. I said there was an incident. He later expressed his disbelief in this thread, that a single incident could be the cause (He was right. I got into a knockdown drag out brawl with some idiot who still resides on my "Punt On Sight" list).
I just replied that it was a really bad incident, where I hit one of those helicopters.

That was when I first met Pigems. He said to me something like "Maybe I've been smoking too much, but did you just say you hit a helicopter?".

Good times 👍

Has anybody tried the Viper in race C?
Obviously got to stop for tires but the fuel economy is insane!

Did some races last night in my SpeedKing Racing Viper and managed a couple wins and some podium finishes. First few races I went full bore pitting for fuel only at lap 5. The tires will hold up the whole race as long as you don't abuse them. Then I'm starting 3rd behind another Viper and I get a run on him going down the hill the start. He leaves me room on the inside and we go through the chicane side by side without contact. I come out with a 1 sec penalty WTF. I still finish 3rd but he wins the race by no stopping.

So I message him after the race and ask him if I made contact with him and what his no stop strategy was. He says I didn't hit him and thought it weird that I received the penalty. He said he used FM2 and short shifting to win. Next race start 3rd and get taken out in the first chicane and fall back almost to last. So I figured I would try his strategy because I wouldn't stand a chance at a good finish going balls to the wall to catch up. Finished 2nd as most cars pitted. Passed 3rd on last lap as his tires were going away. Big thanks to bdubclub for the tip.

So after watching the replay, I got the penalty because the Huracan in 4th was rammed from behind and tapped my right rear before going off. I didn't even feel it and he didn't even lose a spot. This game

I'd settle for that in the mirrors with everyone else ahead of me!!

7 laps in the Jag, and beat my Lambo time! So looks like we'll try a race again...

I don’t mean to sound rude, so I hope it doesn’t come off that way. But if you spent even half the time you spend on thinking up ways to make the game easier/better and posting about them, on actual practice/racing, you’d probably already have your trophies and would also probably be having a lot more fun with this game. Just sayin, I’m in no way trying to be rude or mean, just trying to be helpful.

After 3 pretty good Race C (an ill-fated no-stop in the NSX and 2 where I did stop) I'm FINALLY back up to the land of SR S. YAAY!
I was quite unusually put with a set of B/A and D/S drivers who were actually not all about causing a crashfest or misplaced aggression.
The no-stop was a disaster due to my guessing game with FM settings not paying off (kept it too high/slow for too long), being pushed into the sand and into the wall in lap 1 (the field had bunched up for the sand and I was left with nowhere else to go, for the wall a slower driver didn't leave appropriate room/didn't know I was there), and getting stuck behind a brake-checker later in the race, so ended up finishing in 11th where I started.

The other two races I gained 2 and 5 positions respectively, and had some very good, close and clean battles with other drivers, so all in all a pretty good night! A couple of times a car sailed up the inside to try and take me and others out but was ghosted before impact each time, thankfully. Hopefully this run of luck continues.

I have noticed a possible anomaly, maybe someone can answer. I know that tyres are cold and therefore grip is worse after a pitstop, but does the weight of fuel also have an effect in-game? (I know it would in real life but never felt any effect before in-race). I notice that my acceleration is worse and the car feels heavier after a pitstop than at any point in the first half of the race, unless my signal lagged a bit and it's a coincidence, or it's all in my head... My NSX has felt a bit like it's loaded with bricks sometimes.

After a few races I keep going between 27k and 28k (currently 28,302) DR...

Talk about a tease. I want that DR.A lol. I would have had it this morning but no. People like to mess you up.

Yes, there is a fuel load difference. Helps to make very steady driving if you can smooth things out a bit as it can sometimes balance with tire wear.

On to questions, anyone know how much is max SR gain in race C this week? After my disasterous 2 races costing me 57 SR points I am unsure how to work my way back up as I know if I get in the racing pack I'll get bashed. Looking to practice a couple fuel saving races learning manual again from the back. Just know I get to end up dropping a gazillion DR points to do it. @Sven Jurgens got any ideas?

EDIT: make that practicing manual again. Can say I didn't find it that hard, just hard to keep a watch on for fuel saving. Most of my problems with the manual were due to me having the downshift on the wrong button (will fix that) and what gear to use after being punted to Narnia in my race from hell. Rest of it wasn't too bad for a first race.

WRX and S660 races have been at Tsukuba with lengths of 5 and 7 laps, and they're dreadful. The track is too small and slow for racing pretty much anything besides karts.

If there tuning involved, it'd be a bit different.

We had a Mini '65 race C there a long while ago. Was brilliant seeing everyone's liveries and set ups. Some cars were slammed, some stock, you could tell who had changed gear ratios as well. One of the most fun races at Tsukuba I ever had.

We need races like these
