Thanks. I went through and set up a lobby with all the settings to practice but then it wouldn't let me start the race solo and the practice laps didn't have tire or fuel use. I'll try custom races.
Custom races don't apply the BOP (although you could change your car's power and weight individually, if you really want to race against other cars), and you can't set the tyre or fuel multipliers above 10x. If you go into a lobby on your own it'll have the BOP and you can set the fuel and tyres, but you can only treat it as a practice under race conditions, effectively.

Cheers, appreciate the extra info. Went the custom race route but definitely felt the lack of BoP on the straights. Was good enough though for practicing no-stop strategy

Meh. Just had a cracking race at Suzuka. After a long battle, I got on the inside of a guy going into the haipin, he turns in and there is door to door contact. I would say I was well alongside and he turned into me. Anyway, I finish the race with a clean race bonus and SR up to 99.

After the race I get PSN messages from him calling me some fairly rude names. I am surprised that the PSN network allows people to send rude and swearing messages.

Whether or not my move was fair (which I think it was, and the rather flawed penalty system in the game thought it was), there is no need for that. The PS4 is my sons, and I don't want him to read any of that rubbish.

re: defending

If someone is right up behind me on way fresher tires I'll move off the line to let them pass so I can slide in right behind them to get the slipstream. Let them tow me along on their fresh rubber. There's really no point in defending hard when you are at such a significant tire disadvantage IMO. Instead you should've managed tires better or pitted as well to get new tires. Unless it's the last lap/stint, but in that case this should only happen if you're no-stopping

This strategy fails when the person behind is overly eager though and goes for an off-line pass at the same time as I'm trying to let them through.
If I'm no stopping and early in a race someone is all over me and looking like they'll make a stop, I'll lift and coast very early into a corner, from as much as 300-400m. They just drive past, it saves time, you don't change your line, and save a little extra fuel into the bargain!

Later in a race they have to work to pass me! But I'm not an arse about it, if they get the run somewhere then they've earned the overtake and I'll maintain my line and make sure we don't crash

There may be a way to block certain people. Not sure, though. Someone else here may know.

It "allows" it in the same way GTPlanet does - people can do it, but shouldn't and the moderators will take action against people who do.

Report the messages.

Eeked out a p4 from p8 in the Atenza doing a no-stop strategy. Held onto p1 for a couple of laps when all the one-stoppers went into the pits, but the last few laps my tires really started to give out so three of them ended up getting past me.

Is it better to go with Hards for the no-stop, or should I just be managing my Mediums more carefully?

Depends on how you drive I guess. Doing a touch of coasting in the turns and smoothing out my lines a lot means if I am no stopping the mediums are usually solid until the last lap, but really takes some watching and adjusting when you are in the slipstream. Saying that, I'm pretty brutal on the braking and downshifting so I think with a touch more practice I could fix that. I find the cars near undriveable for the first couple of laps on hards while on mediums I can gradualy adjust to the slowly fading grip. I have still found most races in lower lobbies it pays to 1 stop unless you've gotten a good lead. With the 11 sec pit stops all you need is a second a lap faster pace on fresh tires and it evens out. If I can get clean air then a no stop is viable for me, if there is traffic I am going to definitely need the tires or someone will blast me when I have to brake earlier in the later laps.

Made a quick video of my favorite battle from last night. He made a slightly questionable move in the braking zone on lap 11, but I have a feeling he might not have a rear mirror and didn't realize I was going for the inside....... or he did a late cutoff lol. Great having battles with drivers who know how to share the road, he left me just enough room to stay on track and I went for it.

Minor contact on lap 12 and I lifted a bit to negate the advantage. Made for a great turn 2, I could have braked later but I would have sacrificed too much exit speed and the Ferrari was superior in the straight line. That and braking later wouldnt have worked unless I wanted to be a douche and slam the door shut at the last second risking a crash.

Could I have passed him earlier? Probably, but I knew I had 3 laps and fresher rubber. Better to stalk him for a lap or two and find his weaknesses vs just throwing it in, especially with a driver you don't know, observe his style, his braking points, how he likes to defend etc, then attack. I knew if I had the inside line for turn 3 I could create a gap before the front straight.

I did a bad thing tonight. I lost my cool.
First race B a French guy duck inside me in the hairpin. Fair move, I got a better exit and runs what is now the inside towards Spoon. I got my front at least up to his first quarter.
He turns into me, I hold the line through the braking in Spoon, then he bumps me harder. I get pushed off and he gets 5 second penalty.
Pass him next lap in the penalty zone. He wrote thank you after the race, I responded with"you are welcome".

So far so good. Next race I get pushed off in the esses. He gets no penalty, I followed as close as possible, but two more passed.
Then in Spoon, I got bumped hard in the first braking zone, manage to hold the car on the road, he passed and I deliberately push him off in the second part.
I am annoyed with my behaviour and stopped playing after the race.
Still, SR 99, blue SR and DR Up.

For anyone who wants to join us tonight, the Daily Race Lobby will be starting in 45 minutes. If you’re interested in racing just shoot me a FR on PSN(CnF_Pigems) so you can get in the room when the time comes. It’s all casual fun racing, so everyone and anyone is welcome to join us. I’ve actually got the lobby open now for practice. :)

Tonight’s Bonus Races will be “Dirty” Races, no rules, anything’s goes. ;)

Thought I'd share my lap around Suzuka in the NSX. Think half the reason I love this car is you feel like you're really wringing it's neck. Wish I'd have jumped on Race B on Monday instead of Friday! There's a little bit left in the lap (S/F straight, Degner 2) but this is pretty much as 'hot' as I can get

Anyone know where kudos pulls the upcoming daily race info from exactly, or why the timing of “next weeks” races is so different every week? Last week I was practicing Suzuka from Thursday till Sunday night (which didn’t help any lol). It’s Saturday evening and they still haven’t posted yet. I know it’s most likely going to be a red bull rain event but I’d still like to practice cause I’m oh so close to my ultimate goal of dr A and finally retire from the stupidity of GTSport penalties.

As the title reads. I wasn't able to capture the start(I 've saved the entire replay though. NAyway, That RCZ(which you'll see later in the race), was blocking from the start. The reason why there was off, was because another RCZ straight divebombed both of us. I got the penalty, even though I didn't punt either car.

At the end, I'm on fresh tyres and players are being quite fair. That is, until we catch that struggling RCZ again...

Picked the AMG today and did a 1:30:097 after 4 laps... But then wasn't able to keep improving. Whenever the first sector was good, I would screw the lap later on. :banghead:

I think my age is starting to reflect on my ability to put in top10 times as before. I'll try again tomorrow.

I'll be moving countries next week and I won't bring my setup so this is my last chance at getting a top10 until I get a new setup sometime next year, possibilly.

Really struggled to find some consistent form with this round of races (and the previous round), and my ratings have suffered as a result, both through my own fault and also switching to a new router. This seems to have caused a few issues with Remote Play glitching a lot more than normal, fingers crossed it's now solved.

But I managed to put that behind me with a 2nd place Qualifier at Interlagos, which I held from start to finish in the Aston Martin for my first podium in weeks, with no pit stop and on medium tires. I had no chance of catching first place; they quite literally drove away with the win from pole, I figured at that pace they would need to pit but they never did. I managed to get lucky at the first turn on lap 1, where the majority of cars behind me were involved in multiple shunts and bumps, which put quite a gap between me and third, even with a fuel limiter of 2. I slowly wound the limiter up to 4 across the race, and by the time third place was within 2 seconds they needed to pit (along with the rest of the field), and I had the gap I needed to put the limiter on max, and save up fuel for the final lap

You run sport mode races through Remote Play?
confused.gif

Yes I do, have done for a while. It works fine most of the time, only glitching for a second or two at its worst, and that's at Full HD on high frame rate. But my router died recently and was replaced so I'm on a new network, which I didn't think much of at the time. But then Remote Play started glitching and losing the image for several seconds at a time, and jumping through all of the resolutions available, or just disconnecting altogether. Sometimes it would look like I was racing in the original Gran Turismo, the image was so pixelated.

The problem is my old router produced two seperate networks for each frequency - 2.4ghz for b/g/n and 5ghz for AC, but the new one just produces a single network and manages the bands automatically, on top of the Playstation choosing the frequency automatically at its end of the connection. Apparently you have to go into Network Setup on the PS4, choose Wifi as if you were going to create a new connection, and then there's an option to press the 'Option' button on the controller to bring up a menu of options, the single option available being to alter which frequency the wifi connects with. I do wonder about Sony's UI design sometimes....

After getting my second account’s DR above my main account, I thought I should race on my main account at Suzuka. Also, if I can qualify in top 1000 in the EMEA, then I should race with a reasonably quick time.

Race 1

4th of 16. Three A/S in front of me. One of the A/S dropped out at start, so I started 3rd.
TT, Lexus and Megane fo top 5.

Typically, on the first race on this account in ages, I balls it up!
I dropped it coming out of Degna 1 and I spin into Degna 2. Back to 11th or 12th.
Then got a penalty for cutting the chicane. Fair enough, it was cut.
Back in 13th!

About six cars close in a train for a couple of laps, but people looked to be respectful.

On the last lap at Spoon an Alfa goes wide and goes off. Hits me as comes back on the track. And goes off again. Didn’t ghost at all. Two second penalty to me. I end up 13th with red SR.

Race 2

Start 3rd. Two A/S in front. Same two drivers as the first race.
Nearly all Lexus and TT on the grid.

Got tapped and passed at the hairpin on lap 1 by an Audi. Overtook him again at Spoon as he went wide. I touched him door to door. I got SR down.
On lap 3 was passed by a different Audi into turn 1 after he was quicker through the chicane. I gave him space. Clean move by him.
I ended up 4th. Blue SR.
Better! But looking at other drivers fastest laps its clear my race pace is too slow.

Race 3

Got a disconnect.

Race 4

Started 2nd. Now an all B/S grid. More people must be waking up and logging on!
Pole was in the 2:08s.
The driver that tapped me at the hairpin in race two is 3rd on the grid.

Finished 2nd and an uneventful race. First was a second in front and I was a second up on third after the first lap.
Finished about 4 seconds behind, but my race pace much better - three laps in the 2:10s.

I end up about 2 seconds ahead of 3rd.
Clean race and blue SR.

I’ll take more uneventful second places like that!

Thanks. I have reported and blocked him. Venting in the lobby is one thing, but sending all sorts of PSN messages takes it to a new level. To add insult to injury, this is a guy who streams all his races on youtube, proudly boasting of revenge hits on people that bump him.

Anyway, notwithstanding that I have had a few excellent races round Suzuka. I noticed that I was very often faster than many of those who had qualified ahead of me, whic h meant that my qualifying time probably needed improving. I finally got it down into the 2:09s this morning, and DR is higher than ever before. I know many are bored with this track because it comes up so often, but it really is an excellent challenge.

@05XR8 was posting what KUDOS lists for next week. I think it will be race B for me... I won't find too many DR/Ds doing GR2 :\

LOL, First thing in the morning, I didn’t even clue in that he posted the car groups with it.

Yeah, same about Race B. I'm using the rationale, that Mazda don't make a Gr.2 car. So, I won't feel bad not racing at one of my favorite tracks. :sly:

Edit: I guess the N200 will be the S2000?

Well, looks like I'll be figuring out how the hell to get around Autopolis.

That, or it'll be another week on the Canadian account, at Sardegna.

Glad to see the return of Gr. 2 but I seem to remember the dirty air makes Autopolis a real challenge to overtake.

Big fan of the Sardegna tracks so looking forward to that.
