Hi guys, new to racing, and new here. I’ve played GT Sport for about a week now, and absolutely love it!

I’ve been chasing my first win, finding no luck on Suzuka as I’d make too many unforced errors and spin out (luckily without cleaning up anyone else), and last night I finally got there on race B, in the Atenza.

It’s a hell of a feeling, and makes me want to play even more. Still a lowly DR D SR S driver, but hopefully not for long.

See you guys on the track.

Welcome.

You´ll have a blast..., i´m kinda new to Gt sport also, i´m playing for almost 2 months, i´m at B/S and you´ll see that in the process the experience will get better the higher in rank you go and you´ll find thats it´s easier to race and get better positions since you gradually build up skills and know where to improve to get better times and overall people have a bit more awareness in track.

Only did 2 races in daily Race B this week, my qualy is at 1:22.XXX don´t remember exactly so in one race i started p3 and in the 2nd i started p7.

First race i finished p5 cause in first corner the ram was a bit harsh and i lost couple o positions manage to stay 5th till finish.

The 2nd race was lot more fun again in the first corners i losed some time cause 2 guys in front of me whent out of track one of him bounced back and i avoided him by a hair..had to brake and make a quick turn, i got 2 positions there and i was glad that all the other racers didn´t ram me from the back, after that i managed to build up the pace and started to chase the guys in front.

In that first incident i losed to many time and in a normal race i could be happy to stick in 5th place but i made flawless laps, not the fastest but steady laps, i had luck that people did big mistakes so 1 by 1 i whent up until i get p3 and in the last lap the guy thats was in 2nd did a big mistake also wich led me to 2nd place.

I´m at B/S i barely play and missed the nations/manu from last weekend, i think i could easy get to A since i normally on top 10 when it comes to qualy and when i race it´s the same.

This Gr3 race B seems to be a good combo for me i think if i invest a bit more time i probably could step in rank but i´m not in a rush just enjoying and slowly improving.

Wow, EMEA has 5x the drivers as NA
Yeah, man. And 6x as Asia. The competition here is f:censored:g insane. The lap times you need to start at the front of the grid are crazy. And pole positions are almost impossible if you're SR 99 and you're not an alien. I find it quite unfair to be honest.

The cars are so slippery in Race C. All of a sudden, just no grip on fresh tyres and sliding into the turn. Just sLideways.
I don't notice it, just take a hair slower entry into turn 1 after the pits and the new tires seem fine after that. I was in the GT-R though. Guys in the Lexus in my 1 race seemed to have their tires fall off a cliff after 3-ish laps, had 3 people double pit, and all three behind me at the end. I know if you're pushing it they definitely give out. Had an A/S(shole) driver recovering from a first lap crash punt me on lap 5 at the double left near the start of the lap and it ate my tires up. Spent the next 2 hairpins and the final turn getting punted by the double pitters who didn't realize I might need to brake a couple meters earlier than them. Still moved up a few spots in a loaded lobby by really only making 1 small mistake and capitalizing on others running off and chewing their tires. Definitely have to be smooth to manage it.
Was frustrated when I finally got my qually lap down to 1:38.9 thinking I'd done well, only to get in a high lobby and start 15 out of 17, 3.5 secs off the pole. Ouch. only made time cut off at end by 1 second. hopefully I can get some more practice in and manage that.

Race C is all about dirty air, that is the reason the cars feel slippy in the race.

The Group 2 cars are very airflow dependant, so as soon as you start following cars you find you suddenly have a lot less grip. I caught a guy at about 2.5 secs a lap the last day and then simply couldn't get past. It's the big problem with Autopolis, it is very difficult to pass on and doubly so in cars that a downforce dependant.

I've said it once, I'll say it again. You should be matched up by your DR, not your SR. I know PD doesn't want to hear this, but I have found SR means absolutely nothing. There are just as many dirty races in SR S rooms as there are in SR C rooms.

Some decent BoP on Sardegna. I've done 1:21.0 in four different cars. I've an opt of 1:20.4 which is today's goal.

Once I got a feel for that track, I'm really loving it. And it's a race where you don't necessarily have to be the fastest, just be the smoothest, stay on track and be patient. I had one race where I was taken out on turn 1 and fell all the way to last. I wound up moving up almost 8 spots just by being patient and smooth.

Audi, Lambo, Supra, AMG. Not tried others yet.

Edit.

5: The GT-R is very close, too.

The 911 is also a good choice here.

They should've made Race A on Comfort Hards for maximum dorifuto :p Or even on wet RBR as a new update track usually gets used in the daily races of the week after.

I was really hoping for a wet daily option this week, got a bit disappointed.

Last night did some qualy for B. R8 felt quick but unstable. Found a decent rhythm in the AMG (1:21:9) and slightly improved it with the 911 (1:21:8). I think I can shave off some extra tenths though.

I run a 1:23.723 with the Jaguar (BB +1). I hope I can make this time again at Qualification :) . Tricky but good track :)

23.706 to beat

1:39.073 at Autopolis.

My head's not in the right place for this. I'll be back in a few days.

I'd say, 'cause this don't happen!

Exactly. We all know that SR doesn't mean 🤬. And the match making is flawed to say the least. I managed to do a very good qualifying lap a few weeks back (Gr. 1 at Lago Maggiore). 111th in EMEA overall. Guess what? Wasn't even good enough for a pole position in any of the 6 or 7 races I did. I was about 35k DR at that time. Started in the top 5 everytime. But the rest of the top 5 were players with 60k+ DR. That's more than 25k DR difference. What kind of match making is that?!?! I managed to finish in the top 3 every time and I even got the fastest lap in one of them (I saved the replay of course:lol:). Probably my best race so far. Not very exciting though. Started 2nd, finished 2nd. To sum it up. The match making is stupid. :banghead:

The Subaru is slow, but is an absolute blast around this track on Race B. It feels so planted and consistent.

Here’s a race where I make up 3 places just by not crashing.

Well hello, hope everyone had a good long weekend. Last week i kept telling myself i would only play wreckfest a bit then hit gts for some track time before work. Never happend, that game is an absolute blast, i highly recomend it for an old school fun focused game.

I hate fuji, but no way can i resist the panda. No time for racing cuse i gotta help my sister move before work, gonna be a fun day :boggled: I did run some hot laps though and managed to get my time down to 2.03.391 with a .300 opt I feel like left some time out on the track but i don't know if i can pick it up, i find it really tough to put a perfect lap down here.

I noticed during Race A yesterday that some people were picking up 0.5 second penalties just before the penalty zone. What exactly triggers such a short penalty? Is it a track shortcut?

Most likely, they cut the final corner. I saw this several times yesterday as well and from what I saw, it was corner-cutting.

That's ridiculously low even with the mandatory slow down. It was the length of a brake check and they were back up to gaining speed afterwards.

This usually pisses some people off, but for those who don't know, you can do less braking for the final turn at Fuji, if you plan to go wide of the outside curb on corner exit. If done properly, you can gain about .200.
PD does not consider it to be beyond track limits. No penalty.

Do it in qualifying if you'd like, but in the race, be aware that some people freak out about it.

I think it's about right.

I've got penalties this week at Coca Cola Corner, (120R) Hairpin and Dunlop. The .5 sec ones are very close. A few inches. Not enough to gain time and usually messes up the next line. Deeper cuts have longer penalties.

The ones at the end are probably delayed penalties for a cut a Dunlop.

I almost don't get shortcut penalties in Sport Mode, so the 0.5 is a bit of an eye-opener. I always thought cutting the track limits would net you a pretty substantial penalty, even it if was cutting it close. Perhaps I'm thinking of an older model of the penalty system.

The stupid game considers shortcuts far less egregious than getting sideswiped by an out-of-control car that then goes off track.

@O604, that Coca Cola corner is the toughest one for me. It's such a fine line between going too low on entry, and going too high on exit. Maybe 10% of the time, I get it right.

I'll be alright. Eldest cat died, and she's been around since I was 13 (31 now) Literally nothing to do for the next hour, though. So, going to hop on, and see if I can take my mind off things.

Now, if any of you happen to mention to the outside world that I'm a little bit of a softy, I also have lots of large knives

Noooo :( ah that's crap, buddy. I feel you. Been there too many times.

I can empathise and sympathise, but have no knives. So we'll leave it at that.

Race on and clear the mind.
