This usually pisses some people off, but for those who don't know, you can do less braking for the final turn at Fuji, if you plan to go wide of the outside curb on corner exit. If done properly, you can gain about .200.
PD does not consider it to be beyond track limits. No penalty.

Do it in qualifying if you'd like, but in the race, be aware that some people freak out about it.

Want to see people freak out? When you enter the race, put in the chat room "Let's have a dirty race!" Obviously the clean race message means nothing, so why not?

And then if you're just having one of those races where it turns into a demolition derby, at the end of the race say "That was some clean racing!" And watch the freakouts and expletives fly.

Good times.

Sometimes you just need to do that, and not take this so seriously. It is a game after all.

Race C is all about staying out of the dirty air. Every race seems to be a parade of cars 1.2 seconds apart.
Try to stay close and the loss of DF means your tyres melt in the blink of an eye.

1 Race A this morning. QT (same as yesterday) 2:04.667. Started 3rd. Some familiar names on the grid aka the always clean crew. Finished 4th. But felt good. Clean Race bonus (first one in weeks). +500 DR probably thanks to a non-qualy S rated driver who finished 5th. :D

I'll be alright. Eldest cat died, and she's been around since I was 13 (31 now) Literally nothing to do for the next hour, though. So, going to hop on, and see if I can take my mind off things.
Sorry to hear that. :(

   I love everything about that post. 👍

I almost don't get shortcut penalties in Sport Mode, so the 0.5 is a bit of an eye-opener. I always thought cutting the track limits would net you a pretty substantial penalty, even it if was cutting it close. Perhaps I'm thinking of an older model of the penalty system.
Those 0.5s penalties, along with what would only be described as fun, enthusiastic Touring Car racing....cost me 20,000DR last night, and sent my SR down to 8. I want to like this game, I really really do, but so much about sport mode is the exact opposite of fun.

Autopolis time down to 1:37.370 in the RCF.

Still 1.1 seconds off EERIEISSSS. I'm losing my time from the hairpin, to the finish line, as I can follow the current EMEA 10th fastest ghost within half a second (ish) until that point.

A .5 penalty will most of the time cost you at least 1.5-2 seconds in lost top speed and different brake points.
Yeah. Totally depends on the track.

.5 sec at Fuji Speedway in this car is recoverable.
.5 sec at Suzuka East with a slow shifting car is game over.

Fiiinally had a good night!
3 Race C in the GT-R, gained 2000 DR and 20 SR to be back at 99 at last!
The final race I survived a first corner incident and ran in 3rd until lap 10 when on the exit of a corner I got unexpected understeer onto a kerb and spun. Finished 4th. It's very tiring driving on worn tyres in Gr2 with the DS4, my left stick feels quite inaccurate with that kind of power and cornering is therefore more difficult. My quali isn't great, only a 1:37.249 (currently just missing out on the top 1000 in EMEA, woooo), but it's good enough for a top 6 start how I'm being matched.

Tested daily B qualy today. struggled to keep R8 at track, understeer, oversteer, spinnig you name it. Got 1:22.4.
NOW I deleted the temp files and tested again. No idea why this came to my mind....
Noticed immediately that the grip was back to normal. Got 1:21.4 with few laps.
After 10 or so laps, my q time was 1:20.919!!

So what exactly is stored on the temp?? and why it affects grip?

Or is it me being delusional? (there seems to be many nutters here, so one more would be ok )

Yeah it's pretty ridiculous as most unfair penalties are triggered by people playing loose with track limits.

Before penalty zones the game would do some magic calculation of how much time you might have gained times your DR level and award you up to a 8 sec short cut penalty (Cutting Tetre Rouge too close at full speed on Sarthe)

Then PD toned it down to a standard 0.5 sec, sometimes 1.0 sec for cutting a chicane, which often still gains you time and creates a hazard for other people at the penalty zone. That while a minor scrape with a wall can still give you 5 sec, sometimes even 10 sec penalty, even if you lose a ton of time. Fastest lap also means little as it still counts when cutting corners.

Oh and punting another car in the sand, who loses 10 sec on his lap time, might only get you 1 sec penalty or nothing at all.

I'm pretty much over racing on tracks with badly defined track limits like Fuji and RBR. The penalty system is totally inadequate to deal with wide tracks with inconsistent track limits.

Whaaaaa

Please tell me this isn’t real

I hate hate HATE Autopolis, even more with Gr. 2 cars. It took me 2 hours to get 1:35.7, after many times I kept spinning out. This track makes me miserable. It's like playing Touhou, except you can NEVER win.

I'm gonna go lie down. :nervous:
My first time at Autopolis was amazing. It was when they first introduced it and it was Gr2 then as well. I killed it and had a great time. Wait........

No, actually I'm thinking of Gr2 at Fuji. Nevermind. To hell with Autopolis.

You should've seen how much my SR dropped one day, when I decided to troll/bait people by putting a "TRUMP 2020" decal on the back of my car.

I’ve got this Logo on the rear bumper of a couple of my cars. :D

Not had much time to race but managed to jump into a Race C and wanted to try a two stopper after doing a long one stop in my only other race

Now gaining 10 places looks pretty decent on the face of it, it seems saving a screenshot resets the video clip though and as I didn't save the replay I can't show how the last stint was totally wrecked as soon as it started!

It was just full on, flat out driving which was great. Made some places at the start, was up to 12th by the end of the first stint, dropped to 15th, but with ultra fast tyres while others were struggling the pit stops got me up to 4th and at the end of my second stint I pitted from 3rd after overtaking a late stopper. Came out in 6th with the original pole sitter about 1.4s behind me (Italian called "Feral" something - I will name and shame him!) and it should have been enough of a gap to hold on the short run out the pits to the first corner, I braked at around 70m and he... didn't. Just didn't brake. Not at all. Slammed straight into the back of me sending me to a gravelly realm of shadows, down to 13th place and the whole run down to T3 behind him.

The tyres were still good enough after cleaning them up to make my way up to 10th, finishing around 2s behind the Feral 🤬 but I honestly think a podium was a possibility if I'd have got around the first corner with my tyres intact.

I need to get a bit quicker around Autopolis (don't we all?!), but I love the unrelenting nature of it in fast cars. And with my main 'racy' account which I'll use for FIAs when that restarts I'll be going for two stops, it's one of the most fun races I've had in ages - even if a third of it got ruined

Gr.2 on DS4 is tough. I normally don't even bother with Gr.2 or Gr.1. I'm sure there are a few people who can make it work but I think that's the point at which you need a wheel.

Hello everyone. I've seen some people putting up their times, so I wanted to put mine down:

A - 2:02.791, Sprinter Trueno (Tofu not included), BB +2
B - 1:20.885, Toyota GR Supra GT Racing Concept, BB +2
C - 1:35.464, Honda Raybrig NSX '16, BB +2 This combo stressed me out so much yesterday, I still feel stressed from it today lol.

Has anybody noticed that on Race A the Trueno is tuned to 200hp but the Levin is tuned to 196hp, even though both of them have the same weight of 1146kg?

I want to say there's no difference but I've been feeling better in the Levin.

@Pigems. Been chasing your ghost. On the last turn you just disappear. Feels like you're maybe 10mph faster. Any tips?
