Well, not a good day at Thunderdome.
I do well early in the week, but as I can't go faster I suffer as others get faster. And dirtier.

Having a good racing morning, considering I've been home from work with back problems. Had 4 clean race A in a row, then error boot from warm up lobby. Hope my streak stays, I've done 3 a couple times but never 4. Finished I think 6th, 3rd, 5th, 7th. Maybe 6th on that last one, DR goin up people are a bit faster. Got qualy time to 1:12.167, so close to my usually unrealistic goal of being within a second of @Pigems


Edit: streak likely gone, it took 5 SR for 'quitting' the error lobby. Oh well.

Morning race A was pretty awful.

I'm down at 88 SR. Room was SR B. It was a full contact race. Did my best to swerve and avoid but got clipped a few times and ended -SR.

Need to get my SR back up so I can race drivers again. Not dummies who think gaming penalties is more important than maintaining speed. :crazy:
 
Had a great morning race on Race B, started 4th finished 3rd, got tapped once into corner 4 on the 1st lap, I think the guy was just a touch late on the brakes. After that basically just kept being consistent and losing 4th be atleast a second ever lap.

Some of you guys have insane race pace on that track RBR, doing consistent 1:30,1:29 in race. The best I can fair is 1:31.1 to a 1:32.

I can see my mistakes but I’m finding it hard to keep that pace and be consistent on DS4, debating whether a wheel would help me.
 
Some good racing today at Tokyo. So much cleaner than in the evening. Good to see you on the track @sturk0167, better next race! I've been racing through traffic with Sesarkalderon, great clean battles and fun to chase. I slowed in the hairpin to let him go in front after our minor incident, felt bad to take the place, nothing he could do about it. Good all 3 of us in the next race, gonna be good!

@sturk0167 Scratch that coffee, I think you'll do better with a few beers instead :cheers:. That last race was an awesome photo finish. No other track gives me as many close finishes as Tokyo.

The next one was intense, 2 wide basically the whole first lap with a group of cars. It all went fine! I got the fastest lap in that one but got slowed when passing a car that was weave blocking then bumped me into the wall when I got alongside. That's the third time today and no penalty for the car deliberately bumping me into the wall to stop me passing. Apparently PD can't fix the tap from behind then tap wall without breaking the hit other car from the side into a wall. Unfortunately it seems people are already catching on that you can get away with this now :/

Well, 6 races in Daily C. 5 with positive SR, which has seen my SR up from 57 to 80 and my DR up by over 6,500. I've uploaded my race videos thus far.

Starting from the back in every race my best finish in Daily C is a podium. I'm now DR C SR S. Long way to go to DR A.
 
Ha now I need some more coffee. Starting 12th is not my cup of tea first of all, then a bunch of cars already crash before we get out of the tunnel, so in 9th or so on the way to T1. I keep my eyes fixated on the 150 marker as always, then suddenly notice someone has sneakily written 100 on it :scared:. Yeah that's a bit late to start braking. I think I missed everyone apart from the wall of course, 5 sec but still ok. That is until after the bridge a wall bouncer takes me out, spins me around to dead last, still with that 5 sec penalty! Oh well, racing from last is what I do, crawled back up to 9th.

One more before I have to get my kids.

That one went well. 4th place finish from 16th. I did end up with a BS 5 sec penalty from a car turning in on me. I caught back up and passed him on the line though. He tried to weave block before the finish but scraped the wall. If he had just kept going straight I would not have passed him before the line, karma :lol:.

-2 SR to 97 and less than 200 DR from DR.A atm. I started the week at 16K.

I tried the Lambo and the Nissan GTR at Red Bull but I have found that the Vantage feels very stable on this track for me and I managed a time of 1.30.533.
The racing itself has not been kind to me and I have dropped some 1500 points and SR is down to 87 ... :banghead:
However, here is a video of an enjoyable race that I had today that shows what the Vantage can do,
 
Absolutely fuming with myself. Got caught out by dirty air behind a group of cars and glanced the wall on the first lap = 5 second pen. I finished 2nd - that should have been my first win.

As an aside, a fastest lap looks to be worth a 50% credit boost.

Surely you didn't confuse that with the clean race bonus? :odd: I can't remember them adding this. I've gotten the bonus for some sketchy races so you could still have received it even though you hit a wall and got a pen.

*Watching from his car now, currently on L4, he's got about six people penalties and it's brake checking/blocking then driving into the wall, and doing what he did to me on S/F straight. It made Momoz look fair, and not once did he get a penalty for hitting another car. Completely gamed the penalty system

People like that just piss me off. It's bad enough that someone wants to abuse the penalty system to advance their position, but it's worse (in my mind) to penalize someone on purpose & then be such garbage at driving as to fall back & have the chance to do it to you again.

You get to check you've got the right camera chosen, radar / track / laptimer / TCS set up right etc before you're on the grid. It's also fun sometimes...

If you find online daily race lobbies like that, let us know. Maybe record it to the PS4. That'd be like seeing a Sasquatch riding a unicorn standing next to Loch Ness with Nessie photobombing them.

I have been debating the same thing. The catch is that a wheel setup is a bit of an investment. Is that investment worth it for one, maybe 2 games? And that's also questioning whether you would want to try to be an FIA level of driver. I don't, but I feel like I've lost some races using the DS4 controller.

Haven't had a go in the Aston Martin yet - Might give it a go tonight, but the AMG is pretty good - not so squirrly when you put your foot down, much easier for corner exits

I tried the GTR I didn’t find it that bad, the Porsche doesn’t seem to do to well. The Aston Martin just seems more stable through the corners and easier to get the power down on the exit.
 
I got so fed up with that combo, i just cant stand it anymore. Slowest most boring thing they have offered up in months. It killed the game for me this week tbh and if it wasnt for the nord next week i might be gone longer.

Wreckfest is the answer to gts fatigue btw lol

I hear ya, I typically love slow cars but this one really sucks. I’ve been dabbling with Assetto Corsa lately when I get bored of GTS, it’s a nice game. :)
