Hi Guys. My kudosprime stats suck. Ive never managed to surpass DR C. My SR rating has relatively been constant at an S. I've decided to get back into the dailies but its a mammoth of a task to find a race with clean drivers where I don't loose SR and DR due to dirty driving from other racers. I prefer not qualifying and starting from the back and working my way up the field. How on earth do you guys manage to build your ranking to get matched enter into the non Destruction Derby races.

My stats are not better. I go back and forth between DR D and C. But most of the races I am in are pretty clean, sure there's some push and shove going on but not much malice. Maybe one guy in every 3-4 races are dirty but most of the problems are from over eagerness and poor car control. I too sometimes suffers from the same.
So I just race to have fun and doesn't really care much about the DR points. My SR is about 99 all the time though.

Doesn't look like anyone's posted next weeks races (sorry if I missed it):

Race A: Sardegna C - 6 Laps - N300 Provided Car
Race B: Mount Panorama - 3 laps - Gr.4
Race C: Tokyo East Outer Loop - 8 laps - Gr.3 ...... Tyres Heavy Wet/Intermediate

Looking forward to some race C fun (on my second account ).

B and C sound fun.

But I'm not touching them with my main account. So it's either going to be Y_Dyn_Barfog, or maybe I'll finally get around to creating an R4M Euro account.

A quick look at the stats suggests your qualifying times could be better. And maybe more practice laps are needed.

Even when running from the back without qualifying, you need to be quicker and more consistent than those around you if you want to pass them. For example, if you pass a car that goes off, if they can quickly catch up again you put yourself in a pressure situation which can lead to mistakes, for both drivers.

Matchmaking can be tough. Even good drivers get bad grids. But good drivers I have seen (not me) can recover. Because they lap faster, more consistent and worry less about what's behind them.

Your DR gain is determined by your finishing position, not by how many people you pass. Qualify high and you don't need to do much passing to gain DR and because you're not trying to pass at every opportunity you're less likely to lose SR.

I ran just one Race C today. Started last with no qualifying time. Made up 7 positions. The end result was a loss of 124 DR points and a gain of 11 SR points pushing my safety rating from a B to an A.

Makes sense to qualify and start at a higher position and avoid all the shenanigans and dive bombing at the back of the pack.

I'm also between a C and D. My SR has dropped drastically because of the unfair penalties imposed by the game. I suppose I'm going to let it be and have fun in the race instead of just rage quitting sometimes.. I did this in the past and I'm aware that it has a huge impact on your ratings.

Thanks for the advice @RacingGrandpa and @The_Tullster
Godspeed

Jesus christ, It's almost as bad as this weeks.

Mount Panorama is just like Autopolis, Brands hatch & Fuji for me in that no matter what I do, I cannot get ****ing good there. its just an ultra bogey track.

Sardegna is a great track for me, but N300? what the ****... why can't they have a guaranteed fast group each week, like Gr.2 and up.

Race C just seems like it'll be a lot of people losing a lot of SR/DR , so no thanks I'll defo avoid that, just do it in online non sport mode instead

I remember the Gr.3 races, being punted into oblivion at the final corner wasn't very fun. Maybe a more manageable race with an N300. N300 guess: 911 Turbo '81. Recent and not been used yet.

Too bad PD insist on using a low number of laps for Race B but I love the mountain so I'll let it slide. I expect the Megane to be popular again.

PD are finally entrusting us Daily Race crowd with rain and at Tokyo no less. Bye bye, SR.

I might sound negative but I'm looking forward to all 3. Looks like a fun week.
We used the '81 Porsche at Tokyo South a couple of weeks ago. Quite a difficult car to drive. I gave up on it.
The newest N300 is the Super Bee. I hope that will be the one for race A.

As for race C being our first ever daily race in the rain, I can't wait. 👍
I'll definitely want to start at the back of that one. :scared:

Distinct Days Game Access 529 and total days that Ive raced in sports mode is 131. I mainly just go into sports mode and run a few qualifying laps with the available combinations for the week. I don't take the lap times too seriously. Most of the time its just to cover the daily kilometers in the hope of striking the Unicorn cars in the roulette. I don't have much time to play these days and when I do have free time, its spent in Arcade mode and seldomly in online free practice lobbies.

From now on I will spend more time setting a decent qualifying time and then race in sports mode... Arcade has become monotonous.

I was in a similar situation not too long ago. Here's what I did:
Any daily race I wanted to do I practiced it for half an hour on TT before entering a lobby, and used the full 15 minutes of lobby time before a race.

Your lap times won't always improve much, but you'll be way more consistent around the track. And that should give you a good bump of DR in the long run.

Since grip varies between TT and Daily I go into sportmode and just got qualify, then run for maybe half an hour before going back and signing up for the race.

I'm at 679 days/860 races. I average just slightly more than the daily mileage. I do a daily race once, maybe twice a day. Helps me track progress.

So needless to say, my improvement has been slow. 100 days to pass DRD. 200 Days to pass DRC. Working on staying at DRB at the moment.

Your progress at day 100 is not much different than mine.

The problem with Mt Panorama is that half the track is blind corners. You MUST know the track. There're several good passing places once you know what's coming without seeing it. With the long straights, there are also several critical corners to learn. Last, first, second and Forest Elbow are all corners that set you up for a straight and entry to the following corner. First corner and Forest Elbow are particularly critical as they're very long straights and ever mph you lose on corner exit carries for the whole straight.

With back to the racing I agree with how much the game changes depending on who you are grouped with. Getting back to SR S helped a lot at Brands. 3 races last night, pole on first and should have won, but got punted wide at surtees on lap one by winner. Know I should have won as I drove back to second and on the last lap was still catching him fast. 2 more laps and he was mine! Oh well. Still got gains for the race. Next 2 I am in the back of high powered lobbies. Drive clean, some minor bumping but mostly racing clean as it can be hard to keep 2 cars side by side totally stable, but bumps weren't enough for SR downs to appear so game must assume they were ok as well. Moved up well in both races, SR and DR gains overall. Lost some DR one race, but when it is clean and solid racing I don't mind. I can understand and deal with it when they are faster, not really when they are dirtier.

Yeah, I have to keep it quiet when I drive. Can't really hear it at all. Lounge sandwiched between daughters bedroom and ours so no sneaking either.

Edit: If I can fix my qualifying lap I will start much better at Brands. Currently a 1:30.9 but keepgetting optimal at 30.0. One race I started last at 14th, 3rd was a qually at 30.1 so could have made a huge start.

Sounds like you and I are having similar experiences on Brands. I’m on a 1:30:8(?) Q time which has put me in the last 3 places on the grid of DR A/B fields for the last 2 days. I was actually better off at the start of the week with a 1:31.2 Q time which seemed to put me higher on the grid in weaker races.

Wait ‘till @Sven Jurgens sees next week’s line up. The 2nd week in a row where the fastest car is a Gr4.

@RacingGrandpa do you think grip also changes between Daily Quali and Daily Race? I can’t tell if I’m just more cautious in race conditions but never feel as confident.

I get a feeling that it does sometimes

Me too.... and not just Brands Hatch. I seem to swap good race / bad race / good race / bad race at my current DR. First one goes well, DR & SR gains bumps me to a slightly higher group, that goes bad and I'm relegated back to the group I do well in.

I believe that the match making is supposed to make you finish at the same spot you started in so any progress is a win. Too many acts as if the only thing counting is an actual win at any cost and I believe that is the reason we get dirty races.

Yeh, all week at Brands you can have a good close and fair battle but when it comes to the last 2 corners of the last lap folks start barging through in desperation for that 1 place...even if it’s to move from 11th to 10th.

I will admit that it’s only in the last few weeks that I’ve properly learned to sit behind a slower car when there’s just no overtake available. There are times where the racing has been great nose-to-tail stuff with 4 or 5 cars in a line and I’m at the back. Unfortunately too many drivers come up behind me while I’m stuck in traffic and think that because I’m going slow that there is a god given right to barge past without accepting that my “slow” was patient and clean racing. Generally this ruins the race but improves my place by at least 2 positions because the barging idiot always ends up meeting a car that pushes back and they take each other out.

@The_Tullster the good race / bad race is annoying. So to is the observation I made about Autopolis last week being true. I went from SR 99 to 50 while my DR went from 14K to 23. Now at Brands I’m back to SR 99 but DR dropped to 18K. The cleaner I race the worse I finish. Sometimes you gotta drive like a dick in this game just to defend yourself.

So much this. Can you imagine the number of penalties the main pack will have coming out of turn 1!
I just did some practice laps in time trial mode. My Gr.3 times in the rain, with Heavy Wet tires are slower than my dry track Gr.4 times. The grip basically feels like you're at the end of a race and your tires are almost all red.

I had one of those tonight, driver who was clearly slower than me overall cost me SR twice in one race by divebombing from several car lengths back (me in Jag, him in Slophy). Watched the replay several times to be sure, at no time was he anywhere near what would be considered "alongside" in real world race terms. I'm not going to make room for someone divebombing when I'm already committed to turn in and nearly at apex.
In both the races I encountered him today I happily let through someone faster than me who was patient for a couple of corners and all over me between passing opportunities.

A glimpse into the future for race C at Tokyo

The new Ferrari is a n400. I did a handful of laps in the cornet on sardena c and it was a nice combo actually, and at 1.07.xxx the lap times seem race A apropriate. Never ran the track before, but found it has a decent flow and the cornet is a decent challenge. People who don't like or understand how these old land yachts need to be driven are gonna hate it.....

Jumped in for a few races before work. First one had @0604 and another friend in it, but i think the two guys that started 2nd and 3rd were fighting the whole time cuse i was alone and 3 sec ahead by the end of lap 2. Nice to see you on the track anyway sir.

Two minuets till the next one, lets see how she goes....

Happy friday to all :cheers::gtpflag:

Yup saw @Dairyworker. Check.

That concludes the list of positives from that race.

Yeah the next race was a cluster buck. I did manage to get FL and back up to 3rd after being knocked off, and knocked down to 7th, and bumped mid turn two more times throu the race. One more.... hope its better

It was much better. Started 2nd and played follow the leader for 5 laps. We pulled away from the rest and cut some really fast laps. He did slide out a bit a couple times, but i was not able to benifit from it cuse i made all the exact same mistakes lol

I'd really like to know the reasoning behind PDs decisions... Like how come we get wet Tokyo but not wet Red Bull on daily races?
Like why? I don't get it, I just don't...

I had to check if you all were serious, Bathurst and Tokyo in the rain, I'm in! 8 laps, that's at least a decent race, I think I'll gravitate to Tokyo. Bathurst is my second favorite after the Nord, but 3 laps in GR.4, that's really making it a pretty pointless parade.

4x tire wear, that's really little unless these heavy wet tires shred like crazy. So no stop again, better put TCS on though. This is going to be fun!

Water licencing. They purchased rain in Japan, where they drop Pocari Sweat from the sky. But rain in Europe is Redbull and rain in the Americas is Monster. Which is why Willow and Interlagos don't have rain yet. :sly:

^ The dumbest reason I could make up.
