Sorry for the long post, I'm just frustrated.
Tsukuba last night, I'm the highest rank driver in the lobby at DR A (SR99) but in a race populated with DR B to DR D, and the full range of SR. Unusual I thought, but given the unsociable hour I guess there is only a small pool of players to matchmake from.
Anyway, start P2 behind a Spanish driver I've raced here before and I can trust to race fair. Looking forward to a good battle, but unfortunately I'm bumped wide at T1 by the guy behind. The wide line is ok in T1 it as gives you track position for the kink and then the inside to T2 so I can hold second place. Except of course our friend behind pushes me wide again in the hairpin to steal the position. Annoying.
Happily can retake the place by lap 3, with a clean pass to show him how it should be done, and then dodge the punt attempt at the next corner & watch him run off into the sand

Feeling pretty good about this I set a couple of fastest laps whilst hunting down the Spaniard, but the race finished a lap too soon and I settled for 2nd place.
My frustration was that this lost me DR. Only a small amount admittedly, and I do understand how the DR system works. I just think that losing DR if you don't win promotes the "win at all costs" attitude, which makes online racing unpleasant.
I get that there are ways around this. Stop racing at stupid o'clock in the morning so matchmaking is better. Stop doing race A, it's too short to recover from "incidents". Stop caring so much about DR. Stop not winning. Blah blah blah......
Erm, ok, lost my train of thought. Rant over.
