Monza Race B last night.
I did eight (8) races at Monza last night and my over all DR was up when I was done.
But my SR was C ... It went from A down to C. Frustrating and I learned a lesson. Late night racing is not good.
The clip below gave me two penalties that pushed me down to C.
The first is not right in my mind. I basically just brush the white car.
In the second event I do tap the guy as I was impatient and was to close to react to his braking, and I actually tap him twice. (I'm sorry) but at the end of the day I did not get an advantage and then he went off as I was really holding back not to tap him again. (He was a bit erratic in his braking)

Didn't see anything that looked unfair. Some small mistakes leading to unfortunate small taps, resulting in a small penalty - mistakes are still fair game to be penalised, you know.

I can attest to that ^ I'm a slow DR:S driver. I often get matched with 3-6 SS drivers, the rest AS > DS.
If I podium, small DR increase. If I get tapped continuously throughout the race by the AS/BS drivers, I lose 500-2k DR and 10-15 SR.

It's tough out there. Best way to "farm" DR in higher ranks is to race consistently fast.

Yep, it's basically like you are in a mini-race with similar rated opposition and if you leave the track or spin for whatever reason that's it, massive DR loss :lol:. Last night I basically had 2-4 A or S drivers who I could compete with to actually win points off, the rest is pocket change. Didn't do too badly in the end winning 500, -71 (this race 5 people were disconnected after matchmaking, so only 7 in the grid), 200, 400, 300 in the 5 races I did... compare this to BB raceway on Saturday where in 2 races I gained 1341 and 1249 in grids of all S and A!

When the race countdown starts I always hold R2 (throttle) down so I am on full power once I have control. However, this one time I was started inside a chicane, so I had full power whilst autodrive had my wheels turned. So as soon as START was displayed I spun out.

Ah come on i didn't mean it like that. Just wanted to say that i'm pretty sure that these two other cars were no guardrails for me...

I was being genuine! If you say that's your line and you can make it, I can't disagree with that... I can't make that turn in 1 fluid movement anyway so I don't know :)
 
Just a quick question, is i worth trying race C with my DS4? Still getting my S/R back to around my normal rating after destroying it attempting to race Monza yesterday.

What moron decided to race Gr.1 at Brands Hatch GP.
That track is so damn narrow, I don't even think you could fit 2 cars wide on some of the back straights.

It’s one of my favorite tracks!
Made my 100th win there with the Cayman Gr4 one make Race a few weeks ago and today my 125th with the 919 hybrid.
It’s a very tactical track, no place for mistakes but there are places to overtake... but a good way to get positions is to pressure and hope for the driver ahead to make a mistake...

Personally, I would say no. Brands Hatch is deadly with it's massive sandtraps and tight track. If you want to grind your SR back just do a few Race A's and do everything to avoid contact/corner cutting.
 
Thanks Robben i must say i did think it was most likely not a good idea. Have won on the circuit a few times but never tried it with Group 1 cars

Ok, so, where are the places to overtake?
I've never raced humans there... just cannot "see" a way to use driving strategy on that track.
The way "I" see that track, there are only 2 corners that allow differing lines, to alter your entry/exit;
Druids, which is a hairpin, so, fair enough... you can go down the inside.
Surtees which can be taken a few different ways and actually requires finesse
The remainder of the track is one racing line, with no linked corners... which means, no strategy, fall in line and pin-it/turn, pin-it/turn.
I'm in agreement that, without someone making a mistake... follow the leader.

Not trying to be a jerk, but you do so well there... where are the passing opportunities?
 
The results are in and for the first time since Monza came out I managed to gain SR on average on that track. I did 10 races on Monza yesterday, max SR gain was 5 for a clean race bonus. The worst was -12 for me, getting bumped around. 8 out of 10 were positive though with an average of 1.2 SR gain per race over all. The average for yesterday was -5.2 per player per race on Monza. Happy I finally managed to stick to SR.S while racing on Monza and even end at 99 SR.

Suzuka had a maximum of 21 SR points for a clean race bonus in SR.S. World average was 6.6 SR per player per race, plenty dirty driving yet with 21 points to burn, mostly blue rating at the end. I had an average of 16.8 SR gain per race. My worst was +2 in a race where I got hit 5 or 6 times, only saw SR down once though. Even though the system doesn't say you have any fault, points are still deducted.

GR.1 on Brand's hatch tonight. Looks like another big SR winner from the 160 races logged so far.

But that's the thing, instead of slowing up and racing them clean, you nudged your way through...
Sure, he didn't go off track... but he lost pace/concentration by being pushed off line, and you didn't loose pace due to simply moving them.
Would you have eventually gotten by, probably... and that is the point... race past when the opportunity presents, not shove past because they are in your way.
I was looking forward to watching a superior skilled driver race his way through the field, but after turn one, lap one, the first car in your way you force your way through... that's enough for me.
Whatever, hope you are enjoying your "sub" account.

This time, even with 2s penalty my SR S ended green (90 to 92) - and by judging what I went last days, it can be called small miracle...
I was expecting straight S to B fall, like past days.

Maybe I wasn't aggressive enough at very beginning..

So I was wondering has anyone else fallen into the trap of vigilante racing?

I will explain what I mean... yesterday I was doing the daily race at Dragon Tail, I qualified 4th but had more pace to spare so was feeling good. Anyway, the race started, somehow two cars crashed on the straight and I was up to 2nd. Going into the first real corner at the chicane I had a sizable gap between me and the car behind but low and behold some muppet in an M6 missiles me from miles back. Fortunately, I got a bit lucky with the recovery and I'm only back to 6th... until some dude who got a poor exit runs me off deliberately.

I'm now back to12th, next corner I get launched again and I'm back to last with a sizable gap. I thought about quitting after begin taken out three times in four corners but decided that I am pretty fast here and a lot of people crash at this circuit, so I kept going. Right, this is where I lose the moral ground, I now spend the next 2 laps hunting the kid who ran me off to do the same to him. I flawlessly run him off without a penalty.

Next up is the last kid who launched me into last, but as he seems to be racing fair now and I can't be sure he wasn't pushed himself so I go for a clean overtake and move from there. I am somehow back to 6th and the M6 is in sight. After calming down over the rest of the race I cleanly overtake him and go on from there. But... two corners later he rams me at the bottom of the hill before the double hairpins, with 2 laps left. With some aggressive laps, I manage to catch him on the last lap.

And ram that ****** into the wall at the same corner, he is facing the wrong way. I have lost little to no time and only pick up a 2-second penalty.

Right, I have an issue of doing this quite often, I try to give people chances but can't help it if there racing is so obviously aggressive, keep in mind during this race I let someone pass as I drifted into them which blocked their great overtake so I handed them the place back.

What I am asking is, do any of you often do this? Am I a bad person? How do prevent yourself from going full vigilante? Am I fueling their rubbish racing? Why do I actually care? :D

I confess, I do this far too often. I race others how they've raced me. And if they drop me back so far that I can't possibly catch them I get really petty and pit for new tyres on the penultimate lap just to try and steal fastest lap. MY SR is like a yoyo.

Again: I didn't move them and they didn't lose pace.
 
About to try and get my Sr back to s has dropped to c very quick in a few days of getting bashed around

I generally don't, but in Race B this morning, using my other account (which is B/A) I was having a clean battle with another racer. Some side by side scraping, but that was all through 3 3/4 laps.

On the last lap, coming into the hairpin after the banked righthander, a fellow racer in a TT who had not been involved in squabbling for position, decided to dive bomb me as I was turning in. I saw them coming at the last moment but couldn't slow or move out of the way enough. Needless to say, I was their barrier they needed to get around the corner, and I ate grass. They then go on to knock the other car I was racing with off at the next left hand turn, taking them both into the armco. This slowed the TT up coming into the S bend before the home straight. I knew then he was going headlong into the wall. They did, I smiled, I depleted my 4 second penalty and finished ahead of them.

As my leaving message on GT Sport says, Live by the sword, Die by the sword!

The best passing opportunity is out of Surtees for me. At the top level most can take it well enough but it only takes a small error in turn in and the speed differential down the straight will get you alongside or in front by Hawthorn. Out of Stirlings can be productive but the opportunity is less frequent. Paddock can be done between courteous drivers, but for the most part is very risky and I wouldn't try it without sizing up the guy in front for a few laps first. If I see they are not turning in sharply enough I will exploit this and take as flat a line as I can, taking the inside curb to get the run up to Druids. Brands is my favourite track by far as the risks are significant at the limit, with a mistake generally ending your race. Often just pressurising with sheer pace will induce a mistake.

First penalty was deserved, this is what you get for driving without radar - you squeezed him out.
Second wasn't "deserved" because he came out of the corner too hot and hit you, that being said - he likely retaliated for you squeezing him.

He hit me very obviously, and radar is distracting me + it is fantasy

That's why I look and listen - and car behind sees me best!

Look at my behavior to others in that race....
