I wish I had read this before racing tonight. For some reason every race was full S/S and A/S (im B/S ) and my 2:02.xxx quali time was good enough for a 15-18th start in each race. Had enough time for only 4 races (well 5 if you count the disconnect at the beginning.) And every single one of them I was punted off either by someone not braking at the final chicane (4x in two races) or someone trying to force their way past me at the hairpin.
I was expecting more out of the A and S crowd but you're not kidding it was a rough night on suzuka. I prefer the stricter penalties so people dont act like 🤬
I hope this doesn't continue cause all of my races were ruined by this behavior.

As a side note: did it feel more slippery than usual tonight?

It does, yet it was only a few days ago that GR.1 was on Suzuka. It's very slippery, yellow flags all along the way. I got into rooms with 6 S/S rest A/S drivers, qualified for 20th place in one. Out of my league. I passed the wrecks, then they wanted to overtake again of course, asap. It seems in the back people are willing to drive more dirty as the risk of losing more positions is much lower.

Next race up, qualified 15th, I'm moving up!

On (yet another) side note, I had to quit the last Race C I had so far because of wheel problems. It suddenly felt so much heavier and lost its FFB. I also had to turn the wheel so much more that I lost my rythm. I didn't change any settings either, nor did I tinker anything around with the wheel. This happened mid-race as well and I spun out many times. I quit after the third lap because it just felt so weird and so I won't be a distrubance to other drivers*. It's a G29. Anyone else experiencing this?
*But mostly because I'm so embarrassed and frustrated that I quit
When I did my qualifying trial for Suzuka today, my G29 felt absolutely ponderous. Granted, my first time at Suzuka in GT Sport and it's a weak track for me but I swear I was driving a bus instead of a GT-R. Even after changing all settings to minimum, still felt the same and I was barely running 2:04s.

When I finally got to race, though, my wheel became like those in the arcade games that are hilariously flimsy. I barely hung onto the car and finished 3rd but the upside was that I learned which settings I needed to change to get closer to the feel I've had in other Gran Turismos. Ended up winning the next two races by a large margin (the GT-R ate the front tires but was quite a fuel miser!). After watching a fast lap replay, went back into qualifying and somehow just snuck into the 59s. Definite step in the right direction but was too tired to see how it translated to race pace.

Happened to me exactly the same when I first went in to qualify! I restarted the PS4 and everything was back to normal.

Still Mercedes 45 AMG for the one make.

GR.1 on Brands hatch for me. Alsace hmm, maybe I'll give it a go again.

Suzuka was good fun tonight, although it felt a bit like playing the invitationals with the pros. Qualifying for 15th to 20th place, racing the wrecks and trying to cross the finish line before the timer ran out. At least every race I gained places while racing was very clean.

Although what kind of pass is this

Ok, confused, where did he go and eek ghost

Ah, there he is, the teleport bump pass with ghost misdirection.

Oh God... Gr. 1 on one of the hardest tracks ever :nervous:

Look!! It’s “moi” there!!

I got that lag guy after I pit, he decided to pit one lap later and was ahead of me, made me lose a lot of time to the second place!

Slt Litchi..

Did you post the right video clip?
Yeah, I checked and I posted the right video. But my crash is at 5mn45secs, not 6mn45, sorry.

I had no penalty since the start of the race (it was only my 2nd lap actually).

The game DQ'd me cause I was too long to rejoin the track but I had no chance to rejoin anyway cause the 'auto-drive' message was stuck on my screen

MONZA!!!!

Spun out a couple of times besides being punted many times.. Didn't notice the penalty clock running up and was almost disqualified once..

Horrible night.. I don't know why I bothered.. I kept thinking it has to get better but it got worse :D

Race A tonight should fix some of that SR drop.. I hope..

I noticed this too today, grip was poor, wheel got really light in the race. I wonder why this is. I used to use feedback level 3 for the wheel. Now I have upped it to 5 and it still feels too light.

So I was wondering has anyone else fallen into the trap of vigilante racing?

I will explain what I mean... yesterday I was doing the daily race at Dragon Tail, I qualified 4th but had more pace to spare so was feeling good. Anyway, the race started, somehow two cars crashed on the straight and I was up to 2nd. Going into the first real corner at the chicane I had a sizable gap between me and the car behind but low and behold some muppet in an M6 missiles me from miles back. Fortunately, I got a bit lucky with the recovery and I'm only back to 6th... until some dude who got a poor exit runs me off deliberately.

I'm now back to12th, next corner I get launched again and I'm back to last with a sizable gap. I thought about quitting after begin taken out three times in four corners but decided that I am pretty fast here and a lot of people crash at this circuit, so I kept going. Right, this is where I lose the moral ground, I now spend the next 2 laps hunting the kid who ran me off to do the same to him. I flawlessly run him off without a penalty.

Next up is the last kid who launched me into last, but as he seems to be racing fair now and I can't be sure he wasn't pushed himself so I go for a clean overtake and move from there. I am somehow back to 6th and the M6 is in sight. After calming down over the rest of the race I cleanly overtake him and go on from there. But... two corners later he rams me at the bottom of the hill before the double hairpins, with 2 laps left. With some aggressive laps, I manage to catch him on the last lap.

And ram that ****** into the wall at the same corner, he is facing the wrong way. I have lost little to no time and only pick up a 2-second penalty.

Right, I have an issue of doing this quite often, I try to give people chances but can't help it if there racing is so obviously aggressive, keep in mind during this race I let someone pass as I drifted into them which blocked their great overtake so I handed them the place back.

What I am asking is, do any of you often do this? Am I a bad person? How do prevent yourself from going full vigilante? Am I fueling their rubbish racing? Why do I actually care? :D

To swiftly answer your questions: For fear of my DR I don't, but in my other account I do it only when I get the opportunity to do so- I do not actively create my own opportunities. Because I still want to win that race :D
By textbook standards, yes you are a bad person. And even though your actions are seemingly justifiable it's still no excuse to ruin another person's race (the report button exists for muppets like them). But I can understand where you're coming from and your frustrations.
I prevent myself from going full vigilante by just telling myself: "SS, SS, SS".
Depends on the person. If they're a legit troll your actions wouldn't really influence them much, but if you do that to a new player they might get mad and do it as well and/or they might learn that this is how Sport mode works and thus a new troll is born.

I don't know why you care. And I honestly don't know either why I cared answering your questions

That wasn't swift.

That's a brilliant post, maybe the constant reminding myself of my driving rating will help. Perhaps I should use a second account for my seedy vigilante antics :lol::lol:

Haha thanks
Yeah it helps a lot for me :) it also shows how I care too much for ratings though  wasn't all too different back in World of Tanks, I always treasured my "purple" status there (Basically the S rank of WoT)

Don't overdo it though that's all I'll say

Well, I am certainly giving that a go next time. I used to be more like that back when I was younger but not so much now.

You are right about overdoing though, I guess for me FIFA was the only game I cared about stats and that got a bit too serious but even that time has passed

Also, I am sure I have raced you a few times online, you always seem to be just slightly quicker and more consistent than me

Really? Glad to see another Asia-Pacific player around here! :D

I created the second account for a variety of reasons, and some of them are to destress myself as well as take shelter so I can race in Sport mode without fear for my ratings. I'm still not yet at the phase where I don't care much about ratings anymore (and honestly I don't want to phase out) but it is quite fun to just play without a care in the world

Hehe I'm not really, I had a weird issue for about 6 weeks were I kept ending up in Asian servers and sometimes the US. When the lag was ok I generally found the racing was cleaner in Asia.

I'm back in Europe again now (probably where I belong ;) )

This is the replay of the race you posted with the lag guy.

I'm still amazed on how fast number one was!
we both entered the pit end of lap 5, he had 32 of gas and I had only 8 (second place had 17)...
When I came out he was already 13 seconds ahead, I was caught behind a lag driver and a slower one on the out lap as they decided to pit end of lap 6 so I lost a few seconds.
Race finishes and he was 27 or 28 seconds ahead of me...
I know I push a lot and don't save gas, I don't short-shift unless i'm saving fuel not to pit but watching his replay he was doing some turns 1 to 2 gears above what I or other drivers were doing and still coming out fast...
I tried the same on time trial and just can't copy it!!
I have to train a lot to even get close to those others!

Yeah the C7 at Suzuka during the race felt ridiculous. Nothing like the qualifying handling, felt like a different car.:dunce:

I've noticed quite often that even in the races with no tyre wear the handling of most cars seems different during qualifying compared to the race.

Really? Glad to see another Asia-Pacific player around here! :D

There are quite a few of us ;).

This lap seem OK?

You need to be more aggressive in T1...start wider left then cut across the bend before going wide towards the sand
Take the hairpin high for better speed down the hill
T4/5 you don't need to brake. Get out wide on the rumbles on the right, then as soon as you get to the cone (I use blue apex markers... less debris on the track) let off the gas and steer hard left, you should get to the rumbles on the left and be able to get back on the gas.

At first I was dabbing over that section too, but after watching @Spurgy 777 's replay from the EMEA top 10, I stopped and managed to set a 53.662 :)

The problem with the A45 is the massive understeer.... the quicker you can point forwards and get back on the throttle the better, even if it means taking corners slightly wider than you usually would

Raced Daily C a few times. I learned something valuable: You do not want to start Suzuka at P9 with this new rolling start system. The race begins right when your car is swinging around the last hairpin/chicane/whatever. It's basically the worst possible moment to gain control of the car.

On the plus side, it gave me incentive to improve my qualifying times so I started consistently higher in the grid.

Had this a couple of weeks back. Holding R2 when it gave me control, spun immediately. Thanks.

Slt Litchi..

Did you post the right video clip?

That replay you posted had the message saying you were DQ'd because of your penalties?

I'm not sure, but I think if you get too many penalties it automatically DQ's you.... It was something PD added in one of the recent updates..

Yeah, I checked and I posted the right video. But my crash is at 5mn45secs, not 6mn45, sorry.

Pausing for too long can also cause DQ... it warns you after 1 or 1.5 minute I think that you will be DQ due to excessive pausing.

YES! After 3 wins, 2 pole's and 1 fastest lap yesterday on Monza i finally reached DR:A after 101 days!!!

Congrats! Hope to see you on Sport Mode... we have nearly the same DR :)

i like gaining places at the start just because the guys in front got control of the car in a middle of a corner and smash the wall

is the gr.4 Gt-R competetive on any track? I like it a lot but im 1-2 sec down from my times in any other car .

It doesn't seem to appear much so I wouldn't have thought so. I used it loads in the early days but I think it got BoP'd down.

Try the Citroen if you are looking for something different :) I'm often the only person in a race using it

Robben.. sorry but I got curious.. What do you mean here: "Had this a couple of weeks back. Holding R2 when it gave me control, spun immediately." ??? I don´t understood what that makes and how it can be used...

Which region do you race?
My quali time was a 2.01:4xx and in the "Americas" I got a full room of Dr.B/Sr.S... that was at about 4:30pm Arizona time... so... 7:30pm eastern...
I too am disappointed the stricter penalties only lasted a week... PD should have held their ground... was making for very clean racing.
Slippery... I find every race feels slippery... always just chalked it up to "it's my nerves"... :).
