The last race of the Miata series I’m in is next Sunday, but he may cancel it due to low participation, if he does, I’m in for sure! :D

I'd be glad to have you, mate. Mistah has had to drop out, too. So, I'm in need of another Gr.1 driver.

Let me just check my calendar! I would love to run a gr 3

Same for you, mate. I'd be glad to have you. The only Gr.3 car you can't run (apart from those on the prohibited list) is the AMG GT3.

Oh kay. Looks like I'll be stopping every 5 laps for tires just so I don't go ice skating across the track. :nervous:

Nah, you'll be fine mate. x3 tyre wear means they last a good amount of laps. I'm getting 15 out of softs.

I'm in, unless @Pigems wants the spot. I will run the Mustang because it's the most fun. Driver number 74 if it's free

I've run the N24 Group 3 race a couple times now and I dig it. Both times I've tried it I've ended up putting halfway instead of trying to no stop it. On my second attempt I qualified fifth and finished third, and this was with only one major mistake, along with a 3 second penalty after getting knocked off a bit on the first turn. Any recommendations on the fuel mixture for no stopping it? I've been driving the F-Type. Lovely car to drive and look at. I think the F-Type uses about 60% of a tank to run a lap so I think 3 at the most should be fine.

Well daah! Of course coming to a complete stop against a wall gives you an advantage! You are using less fuel and have less tyre wear than all the cars that are moving :sly:.

I managed to trigger one. You indeed have to touch the wall as gently as possible while losing lots of time already.
s5jZkZ6.gif

Just bouncing off it and keeping your speed won't trigger it, as I've seen loads of times in the race :banghead: Carefully coaxing the car back to the road is not allowed. Thou shalt ping pong across the track! At least PD is consistent in doing everything backwards penalty wise

Morning race, I didn't even lose 3rd place serving that 5 sec penalty.

Yeh, like I said I got two whilst doing 80kph, the default speed for having run out of fuel. I was driving on the grass because I know that by this stage in the race anyone behind me will be a low rank like myself. This also means that they are probably struggling to stay on the track and having another car limping along on the track, ghosted or not is distracting. Not everyone can be @GOTMAXPOWER :P.

Both penalties were dished out when I brushed the ARMCO lightly. Hard side impacts don't seem to trigger penalties, but a hard head on impact will.

Hi to all

Some final screens from my yesteday races..

Since the times of GT4, the Nordschleife is one of my favourite track, I don't care of the qualify time so for me is not a problem start from the bottom and as some of you I like to preserve my SR at S..

First profile , only one race in order to gain the daily mileage bonus (ferrari F40)

Not really related but I was checking out the recent Nations Championship and saw an N500 race (timestamped below) at Tokyo South Inner Loop that looked fun. I was thinking to myself: why can't this be a daily race and wow, N500 cars exist?

I can relate to that.
After I do my own thing for a while, I will usually watch a top 10 replay or two, but using their ghosts doesn't seem to help me much.

Their ghosts do "help" at showing me how bad/slower I am. :P

It's amazing the difference between the system used for daily races vs lobbies. In @Pigems lobby we had people from all over the globe together. A full 16 car grids, and I don't recall anyone having lag issues .
High latency (ping) is not what causes cars to jump all over the track, it's jitter that does that. Jitter is a measure of how much individual packets are slower or faster than the average of lots of packets. It can be caused by lots of things and some internet speed tests measure it, as posted by @kemmac a few pages back:
Here example of latency and ms:View attachment 860801

For those high latency players commonly encountered by @Sven Jurgens it's likely caused by their upstream data being shared over several different routes with different latencies, which is a strategy that some trunk line data operators use to ease congestion. For a video stream where the receiving client buffers several seconds of packets and sorts them into send order before playback, you don't notice it. For a real time game where the game interprets each packet as it comes in regardless of whether it was sent before or after the previously received packet... well, we've all watched @Sven Jurgens video...

Edit: a few other likely causes of patchy uplink data streams -
  • Live streaming on a slow uplink
  • Gaming while your housemates sharing the same internet connection are uploading snapchat, youtube or other social media videos and/or images
  • Running software updates or other downloads on other devices on your network while gaming can cause buffering of uplink data on some types of connections
  • Using fixed wireless internet connections - there is always some level of uplink buffering on that type of connection, especially if the local wireless node is congested.

I can't believe I'm going to say this but god help me but I had fun at Willow Springs last night.

I still need to pick up some speed best lap 1:19:240..had a lap that was a full second faster going and got a wheel off into the sand in the last turn and ended up planted into the blunt end of the pit wall.

What is everyone setting their brake bias at? I'm running 2 to the rear in the 86GT but wonder if that might not be a bit much.

I'm actually thinking about qualifying for race C. I love the Ring and I'm also somewhat competitive there. It's been fun starting at the back but I'm getting a little tired of dodging (I can't call it overtaking) idio... ehm, players with lap times over a minute slower than mine, who brake hard in corners where a slight lift off is more than enough (cough cough Schumacher-S cough). For 🤬 sake people, watch some track guides!!! My SR is taking a hell of a pounding. But I'm afraid starting at the front may end up being pointless anyway because of T1 and T2. What a dilemma.

This driver wins burn of the year
ieqxNnJ.jpg

He finished 13th.... I finished 2nd with fastest lap.

He probably had the wrong drive, brake checked me about 5 times until I got past him.

Anyway I had 2 victories before that in the Mustang and AMG

The AMG is the fastest so far of the cars I have driven. Currently I'm trying out the 4C. First race was too dirty to get a time. First a Brazilian bumps me wide to pass, then the same one rams me into the wall much later when I try to pass. My car bounces back from the wall, he gets off worse, I get 4 sec penalty. Then in lap 2 the car behind me spins me out in the karoussel ugh. SR Down for me. So lovely.

For 🤬 sake YES! It will save the *rest* of us a lot of reporting .

*YOU* made the choice to start up the back. It is *YOUR* responsibility to make a clean pass, not theirs to get out of your way because the way they drive is inconvenient. When your a DR/D or C there is nothing worse than some dip:censored: of a higher level comes crashing through from behind because they feel that's their right. Frankly *I* am a bit tired of people like you who have not got the patience to realise that they have to share the track with people of many different levels.

I had a lag race as good as Sven's but must have never saved it. :( So here is the race I mentioned last week, first half sped up. Would you push to pass or not? :mischievous:

Anyway this shows that not all Trophy drivers just barge their way through, just most of them.

PD's response to hitting a wall: "this is a simulation and so you didn't die. We think that's a pretty large advantage. Have a penalty." ;)

Running maybe five-ten laps of qualifying will also assure or at least make more possible to start with your piers. Better racing for all.

I thought for sure you would post about our favourite fellow Canadian in his GT-R. I was surprised to see he made his way back to A/S, although that is ironically exactly what he is if you add another S on the end. :D

<sigh> yeh yeh hell hell bla bla bla bla something something green hell! Did some qualifying in the M6, couldn't hit my target, not enough time and trying to save my hands for the race. Was *very* surprised to see a 19 car grid with a single DR/A and the rest a mix of D's and C's. I started P6, which was pole for DR/D.

The race starts and from my end anyway, T1/T2 is pretty orderly. I had to focus on not hitting the car in front, he seemed to be a bit more cautious than me, but hey.. the race *has* only just started. I was fairly successful till the inevitable... he braked where I wasn't expecting and I rolled him around my front bumper. I felt kinda :censored:y about that :guilty:. I waited for a few cars, but it looked like maybe he quit. Orange SR and a 3s penalty, which was to be expected. I picked up a 5s penalty somewhere along the way but I was catching up... till for some reason that escapes me at Burgwerk just as I was about to stomp on the loud pedal I pulled my thumb to the left slightly instead of to the right, and onto the grass and scraping the wall I went . I just had to hang on and not bugger anything else up! I started to catch up again!

Second lap was a risk. 0.9 laps of fuel left as I was coming off the Nord. I managed to keep it together and was slowly reeling the two cars in front in. Sadly I stuffed up again, but managed to keep forward momentum. I ran out of fuel half way between Dottinger-Hohe and Antoniusbuche. I pulled over as I limped along. Got passed by 2 cars. The game is oh so cruel. Some poor sod in a WRX had just managed overlap when the race timed out. I finished P9 instead of P10. The M6 wasn't too bad. Bit of a wild chyld, but a no stopper would have been possible if I wasn't changing down as often as I was as low as I was.

SR up 2, DR up 300. For a crash fest, it could have been worse! Another day above DR 1 .

I always assumed lower rated drivers were like power-ups for resetting your SR.

The AMG is the fastest so far of the cars I have driven.
I've been using the Mercedes, it's not spectacular but gets the job done well. Easy to drive, good on fuel (a little short shifting is all you need) and pretty quick. From what I've seen the Supra is the best.

For 🤬 sake people, watch some track guides!!!

I'm familiar with N24 now but back when I wasn't, starting at the back and placing myself in a racing situation helped me learn it a lot better. Watching the way other people race, taker corners, brake etc proved invaluable to me.

You're likely running into people who are unfamiliar so logic tells me and going by your frustration, is to qualify.

but I'm afraid starting at the front may end up being pointless anyway because of T1 and T2.

This applies to most tracks, especially T1.

Haha, yeah I saw him. He ran out of fuel and still tried to side swipe me when I passed him. Ghost swiper. He finally figured out that the easiest races are in the 80-89 SR range when you qualify well, so that's where he's trying to stay now. Not all that successfully but go to get that win count up no matter what!

Supra is halfway down my list. Last time I ran out of fuel in that one. Should be coming up tomorrow or Thursday at the rate I'm going. I'm currently in the McLaren BMW, did well last time, not so great this time.

Meanwhile I'm back to DR.A already, starting as high as 10th bleh. Next one up, 15th out of 18. Americans starting behind me, will be fine.

I can’t get enough of the Vette at the Green Hell. I plan on running from the back the entire week. Way too much fun moving through the field.

You can conserve fuel with the Vette and not feel like you are crawling around the track.

This is the longest I have spent with it and I must say that I like it a lot.

It doesn't seem unreasonable for them to only institute it on certain tracks with no runoff, or sections of tracks with no runoff? Maybe just eliminate it altogether and turn damage on. At least that would feel fair.
