Absolutely. My qual on my main would have started me ten.
I’ve been A 99 quite a while on the main.
One issue I have though is it requires a lot of time to be at proper pace for that account.
Pretty much I am only going to use it for FIA. I really like FIA.
I set my qual on alt so that I could avoid that matching and get in and have fun racing without needing 30 or more minutes warm up to find pace.
It’s tough in the Mustang I literally ran out at the line several times...
Re sr my whole career is S 99 pretty much.
I would have been fine lap one and been away from Citroen but I was offed for running next to a guy into that section approaching down the hill. I had fairly taken position and had inside into the downhill rights but he door banged me wide off track.
First lap was a mess. Later on I made the mistake of not allowing a merc to run me off in the last fast left before the slow chicane I braketapped to hold my tight line.
He was gonna dive all the way. Then I knew he was gonna try to punt me in the chicane so I defended that hard he wasn’t through (mind you like 3 contacts within 2 turns) so on exit we bang, I still get position into the hairpin and tried a dirty late block but didn’t succeed he got side by side and tried to bang me off.
I would have spun him but the rear of his car was bouncing off inside wall.
That’s when I tapped out and felt foolish.
I should have literally pulled over on the fast left but his challenge meant either me getting offed, braketap and hold tight, or pull over and let him through.’He could have easily taken me pre chicane but he was driving overaggressive.
It was my bad though I should have let him through before all that.
It was a combination of mistakes by myself and others that led to my rage quit.
It was embarrassing.
I wish Sport mode races showed visual damage on the cars after a race like the lobby races do. :)

If they did, most of my cars would look like:

How many of you are mindful of your SR rating at the end of a day of racing? I never really gave a 🤬. I won't hesitate to go to bed with a 48. I'll raise it up the next day.

I'm confident that a lot of people try to get their score up before they stop for the day, for the sake of their SR graph on KP.

There are people who never move off of 99. :odd: Seems unlikely.

I must say next week's races don't inspire me at all sadly............I hope to nudge above 40.000DR tomorrow with a few more Spa races, then just do Daily Workouts next week, and catching up with other games....

Downloaded Outlast 2 yesterday, I'll get stuck into that next week, and scary myself ShWitless! :D

I'm not too fussed about what other people think of it, but I like to think that my racecraft and respect for other drivers is up to standard. The penalty system is giving SR downs at all sorts of inappropriate places, but if I'm paying attention to what's going on around I should be able to minimise how often I'm on the wrong side of that. For me, the SR rating is not just a measure of how "fair" I am, but also a measure of how good I am at avoiding other driver's "unfair" behaviour (though it's often not bad manners, just bad driving).
That being said, at the times of day I'm usually driving staying up for another race to fix my graph wont work.... it's already right on midnight and the damage is already done  :banghead: :D

I know there’s tons that do that.
Another reason I don’t daily my main anymore.
I’m actually quite happy with my stats.
I’ve never spammed a ton of races at a time...
Those are my stats from never gaming since Kelly Slater pro surf PS2 and Transworld Surf PS2.
Only races usually once or twice a day.
Studied the Bible of racing and shared it here.
I’ve seen a lot of ratings people get by spamming a combo they are fast in, and I’ve seen many times the comments in top rooms about getting a pen late and having to race longer to restore sr.
I remember the first time I was in a room with @Winnie847 at the front I was like this is cool.
Speaking of that, I miss him, hope to see you soon dude!

It saves at 7pm EST (winter time) 8pm EST (summer time) ;)

Not sure how many do that cause that's during dirty hour  Actually it's better in winter since the dirtiest race of the day is usually at 7:30 pm EST, right before PD stores your SR for the day. I've had many times where I've been at 99 all day, then my SR gets tanked just before PD stores it

But true, do a couple races in the afternoon, bail at max SR, don't play during dirty hours, it's a strategy.

The last race I did I got called a dirty POS by someone. I was never near him on the track (passed him while he was in the pits), finished with the CRB contact free. Still get called dirty lol. Moving up from the back makes you the usual suspect

I'm of the don't care notion. The worst I'll fall down is to SR A/low SR S which I don't consider that dirty. I'm not going the extra mile and raise it back to SR 99 right away purely because it looks pretty on KP. I'd take a more realistic representation of a graph than an artificial/clinical constant SR 99 one.

I couldn't say with absolute authority, but it seems likely that it's designed to reduce how frequently your DR rating changes. Without it, if your skill level is close to the DR rating boundary you could be swapping up and down between B & C every race.

That's basically it. The extra gives you a buffer so you arn't ping ponging between the two ratings from one race to the next :).

I prefer to finish with my SR up max. First, I just kinda feel soiled if I have to compete against the great unwashed :p. Secondly, I find at my level at least, and I know many at higher levels find the opposite, but at my level the races are *generally* cleaner. Thirdly, it keeps me away from most of the other Aussies, who tend to be aggressive. The DR/D Aussies generally hang out in SR/B ;).

Oddly, my experience of Aussie drivers differs. Aggresive yes, but not ruthless. Ruthless belongs to the less skilled of our northerly neighbours who haven't yet worked out it's more beneficial in the long run to make that pass cleanly. I got a rude shock when the region change happened and our daily lobbies were suddenly full of flags other than NZ and AU

I've just given up on the One stopper. Maybe other people on a pad can do it, but I myself just lack ANY skill to maintain pace while messing around with the Fuel. Pit on Lap 4 and just hot laps for the rest of the race. Its been somewhat beneficial, my rating has gone back up abit after all the poor finishes so there's that. 'll likely take a few more stabs at it tomorrow before the races change over, but this has been one of the most difficult daily races I've ever done and shockingly, not once has it involved a dirty driver.

Oh, that's a good idea. I've been running into people to say I'm sorry and thank you. :dopey:
They never seem to show any gratitude for my good manners.

The thing is racing grandpa, is I know.
But, in a certain level of room bashing then hitting hazards is like saying
‘Look I’m not sorry I did that but I thought since you were B you would be so far back you wouldn’t be in control of my fate into this hairpin, and at this point I am flashing to let you knowI am praying you won’t punt me’

Personally from certain players that are trusted hazards mean something.
In the dailies there’s jibronis flashing lights etc all the time for whatever reason.
The only thing that really matters to me is where is the other car and what’s it doing.
This ain’t my first rodeo.

It was an insulting to me flash as a decent player. He never would have done that move if I were on my main with an a there.
That’s the thing. You never know who you are racing. Lotta players run several accounts. Few treat all other racers as the same as any other.
That’s wrong.
At higher levels you have to have a certain level of competitivess and aggression and intensity. You have to have that mindset.
That’s why for me an alt is best thing I ever did.
It was very unexpected going cold into a hot room on alt.
But literally ONLY ONE CAR BEHIND, and he pulls some jibroni crap and ruins my first lap turn 1.
Sorry hazard flash there tells me that you know what you did pal.
I have spent way too many races getting screwed over midpack. I’ve learned for me the key decision is whether to respond.
If I decide to it will be tenfold. For me it’s never worth playing bump bump bump, often you will lose.
If response is warranted from me it will be decisive and swift.
Wait and you might not get another chance.

I've honestly lost all will to play this game... I'm not even angry, I'm just disappointed... Like what's the point of being a higher DR player if this is still what I have to deal with?

This week I've only raced about 6 times due to time limitations... Each race is a big deal to me, so having stuff like this just breaks me entirely..

Edit:
A quick google search will show that he has behaved similarly in other games as well.... Sad.. Just sad

The trick is.... don't do it! I rely on the radar, and trying to change between the fuel map and radar takes too many steps, and I'm trying to bloody drive! If you are driving with Automatic transmission, then you are kinda stuffed. The two things that really help make the no stop, even for someone as 🤬 as me is, short shifting and using a higher gear than recommended for cornering. Picking the right car helps too. Some are less fuel efficient than others. 👍

So situations like that you put up are why I run stable cars and tcs. I will figure how to get speed in a heavier car rather than get thrown around like a rag doll.
That’s why I was so proud of my run I had third time out with my new livery in the Mustang.
I ended up lap one just ahead of the always dangerous fallen a plus. First he signaled, but he wasn’t even close to me, then I noticed him fighting the car on exit getting loose out of corners, when he’d get closer before some turns he would flash his lights. Mind you now no speed differential, no threat to make a move.
Then I saw him get very loose, and I thought of the crazy hicks in Pulp Fiction ‘looks like the spider caught another fly’
He thought I assume name regnition maybe would get him through. I’ve never seen him before...Maybe he expected me to pull aside...
Then he saw I was goin pretty good and tried to catch but couldn’t. I finally broke draft and he had wasted his tires and never even forced me defensive. Never made a move. Couldn’t.
I ran some good times that one. It was livery inspired.
Anyhow, I need to break from posting quite this much, but I think these etiquette issues are very real.
For me it’s do I punt, if yes make sure it’s decisive.
For me looking into this game, it’s almost like it’s a racing game, but there seems to be some silly etiquette SOME players hold that I don’t understand like are you turning on your blinker from five car lengths back to tell me you want to pass me? No kidding I never would have thought of that since were in a race!

for the longest time now, I've been sitting at 26000-28000 DR B/S rating and 3 races ago I got bumped up to 33000 so I'm A/S now....The 2 races following my promotion were in a lobby of only A, A+ and S drivers.....their pace is a bit too fast. While I welcome the challenge, I feel I had more fun in the B lobbies...I'm not so sure I want that A ranking anymore :indiff:. In addition, while my qualy time was good for a position between 7 & 13 in the B lobbies, now I'm just chilling in the back with the guys who didn't set any time.....also, is it me or are the penalties in those lobbies a lot harsher??? I was turning into the chicanes at Spa and I can tell the guy from behind missed his braking point, as a result he tapped me in the back as I'm turning into the chicanes (the tap didn't even unsettle the car, that's how insignificant it was) and then he drove straight through and off the track, next thing I know I got a 5 sec penalty for colliding with another car......hmmm...WHAT????? :irked:

Penalties are based on DR rank. The higher your DR the higher the penalties. When I was close to A+ on N24 about every bs penalty was 4 or 5 sec no matter how tiny the contact from the car touching me before going off. In reverse, often lower DR players didn't get any penalty at all for punting me off, I would even get SR Down for getting punted to the moon. PD apparently has this notion that more experienced drivers need to be punished harder while lower ranked drivers can 'experiment' as they see fit  Also shortcut penalties are more sensitive at higher DR. SR has the same effect. Lower SR means more contact is forgiven, lower penalties, etc.

Early morning rooms are the most dangerous where you get mixes of A/S to D/E sometimes. That D/E player can ram at will, bounce off the walls and still come out with a blue C at the end of the race.

I used to be really focused on having it at 9 but as my racecraft has improved I spend less time worrying about it. I know at the start it really got me into lobbies where I had more of a chance to practice racing rather than crashing and bashing. Now that I have settled into DR B range it doesnt seem to be as indicative of how someone is trying to drive. I only get focused on it seriously if I get blasted down to SR B in one big whack and then start getting crushed constantly where I cant actually build it back up at all. As someone who has rankings built on more steady determination than fast pace I cant simply speed away from the pack in lower levels so it can be frustrating. That said, if I end the day low I end the day low. Any effort at farming SR involves me driving from the back in whatever race and picking up spots where people wreck or get penalties, still trying to get solid finishes but driving in ultra low risk mode. I am still willing to do a solid punt attempt if it gets too bad but I also drive like:censored: if I am driving mad so often can't catch the vilains to fix it anyway.:irked:

Got a CRB at Spa this afternoon finishing 3rd. Racecraft came into it when the guy in front pitted and came out behind me. Caught me slowly, but for a lap and a half couldnt close that last half a second, kept sliding on the downhill parts. When they did finally catch me I could have defended to the death, but knew it was a lost cause so gave them the signal through at the bus stop since it was still 2 laps to go. Drafted for the next lap and a half to pull away from 4th, giving me breathing room as my fuel was running out. Could have fought hard, got taps, punts or penalties, alternatively I can realize it is too long for me to defend properly and I can use them to help me keep a high finish. End result is a clean SR and better finish.

@LordExia
Same thing for me from c to b and also from b to a. You get used to faster pace, takes a bit of time, and your awareness will heighten.
Don’t mind me, the only thing worse than dirty driving is responding in kind and getting worked like I did earlier.
All is not lost, the game is awesome and I love it, without a few lows there’s no highs, thrill of victory and agony of defeat!

Cheers all! Sorry to be so long winded and repetitive, it’s amazing how addicted this stuff is,

I shall return (in due time)
