Small steering inputs, smooth line. Coming out of the throttle arguably causes you more problems. I have a slight lift into the long right hander at the top of the hill. I can't get the precise steering to go through full throttle without unsettling the car.

ETA. You have got to get a good run out of the right hander onto the straight up the hill. That alone is worth a second a lap.

It's impossible not to sound like a dick in these situations. I'm genuinely trying to be helpful. Posted up a lap which includes zero witchcraft and shows lines and brake and throttle inputs. I genuinely believe people are overdriving it and pushing too hard.
Understand the sentiment, and the help is appreciated. It's just a bit dispiriting when somebody says something's easy, when it obviously isn't!

In my races tonight, only 3 drivers had times below 2:10, and they were all people who had what were top 10 times until the shortcut merchants got in on the act! Needless to say, they won every race, usually by a huge margin over us mere mortals  - I am truly impressed by the way they a) run such fast race laps, b) keep the car on track so easily, and c) don't incur any penalties.

I’m on a roll  Where you at Meganes ?? Where you at bitches ? Seriously though, I’m loving the racing at Bathurst, it’s been enjoyable and clean racing, I guess I got lucky avoiding the douchebags that normally proliferate this track..and the wee Scirocco is a joy around here too

I think once you've cracked it you can reel them off. I did some races the other day and got to 2:10s with a bit of margin.

I did a few more daily B instead of switching to C. 4 CRBs in a row, clean streak of 4 (6-6-4-8 place finish). That only raised my SR to 63, still in SR.B  Last race I only received +1 with the CRB. I got ground into the wall twice (yellow megane) and bumped off at the end (brazilian dive bomb). One more then I give up getting out out of this black hole PDs penalty system has created.

A/B to D/S lobby up next, the wonders of matchmaking.
5th CRB but only made it to 9th with that kind of skill spread, however avoided all contact +5 SR, into SR.A!!!

Time to start making dinner.

Just wanted to say race A can go walk itself straight off a cliff. When it's that hard to drive anything, it is no fun. Gonna try my hand at race b, just some laps for now...

That's why your time is crap. Monday I was off and tried it with my wheel. I could'nt finish the lap, I spun the car at every corner. Undriveable with the wheel. But yesterday I tried it again with the DS4 and manage a pretty descent lap of 2.09.04! This morning before work I capitalised on it with 8/8 pole and 7/8 wins.

Monday I opted for Race C with the Genesis. Pit stop on lap 10 and no tire change.
Best part:
Manage a 7th position finish from 14th.
A podium finish from 5th
Some good and clean battle.
DR gain of 3 000 in that day.

Worst part:
Getting ram on the exit of the pit as my car unghosted while a car decided to go trough
Some punt and divebomb of course.

Race B.
Man I love this track but the track hates me. Bear Grylls mode, trying to survive the track and the opponent while drinking my piss.
Lost 2 700 DR in four races. Switch to race A

The Cone physics in this game are crazy. I once rolled a car driving over a cone. Kind of ridiculous really.

With a wheel, you barely feel going on a curb but man do you feel it when you hit a cone. They are made of concrete.

Their quali times, and race laps, were all high 2:08s/low 2:09s - 4 to 5 seconds faster than the rest of us!

After another 30 minutes of trying tonight, I finally managed to knock 0.2 seconds off my qualifying time - now 2:13.5

Am not enjoying C.
2 races today, first qualified well down the pack, a lot of jostling, and I'm getting bumped off track whilst actively leaving space for others to get past cleanly, as I'm not stopping.
Someone in front on the grass, weaving all over the place, i give him a little tap while he's sideways and I'm off throttle trying to avoid, 2 second penalty to me plus crashing.

2nd race started 3rd, dive bomber took 3 of us out first corner, gets no penalty but by the time i reset to track, I'm in 12th. Then minding my own business, lose a bit of concentration, clip the grass and spin, hit a barrier, and get a 5 second penalty.

I seem to really struggle getting back to the track after getting hit off the circuit :grumpy:

I'll keep going on race C just as i prefer longer races, I'm not even trying to finish high up, just want to practise getting clean races, but most B/S cant even wait a few corners to line up a clean move, they just push past as soon as they are in striking distance.

@John G Same here, race C is a lot of chaos then very dull. I did one starting from the back, avoided the T1 chaos but someone rammed me off anyway after I passed his ghost with 2 sec flashing penalty. He served it and rammed me off since the penalty zone doesn't actually slow anyone down with a 2 sec penalty, just brakes for the corner. After the race he starts calling me names, saying I'm dirty and dive bombed him in T1. I started 18th, 19th into T1, he started 7th, even I'm not that good  Can't show him my side since his settings don't allow messages.

Anyway after surviving the first 2 laps it became very dull. I finished 8th in the end, passed a few wrecks, passed a few at the pits, got out of the way of a dive bomb, no real racing. It dropped me back in SR.S anyway, all the way to 89 SR from 68. Back to the Mountain.

You have no idea how relieved I was to read that. Coming back to gts after ~2yrs and trying to get back on the wheel that I haven't used since ~2014, that was the 1st race I tried. Spun going into the corner, out of the corner, going straight, you name it. Jumped back into driving school and all that stuff and it was just like old times, easily beating my ds4 times. So seeing that the race and car itself gives others the same issues, again, big relief.

Wheel users: what do you guys use for foot wear? I want try something different than socks.

I just started using a wheel & am still using the default sock option.

Socks, always. Any shoes I have are too bulky to wear cause they'd interfere with the two-foot pedal operation.

Socks are about as close as most of us can get to those cool thin racing shoes that real race car drivers use.

Go to WalMart and get some swimming shoes, they’re less than $10, thin sole, rounded heel, mesh top, they are absolutely perfect! Been using them for months and months now. :)

The secret to Pigems' 2 second faster QT times has been revealed. Athletic Works' stock is about to skyrocket.

After this morning's disastrous first run at the Mountain, I had to improve my QT. From low 2:19 to mid 2:17 & optimal 2:16.261. But I missed the turn at the Chase. :banghead:

Now at 2:16.479 & I know I could've done better. Scratch that. 2:15.698 with optimal 2:14.893...in the Mustang! Now 2:15.463 (opt. 2:14.836).

So far, three C Races completed and almost impossible not to be banged around. Starting middle of the pack in all A-S/S lobbies and it could’ve been SR E for that matter. Turning laps around 1:21. Last races started 8th, made it cleanly to 4h, created some separation to the car behind until the three cars ahead of me decided to go into the turns together. Just enough for the guy behind me approach with three more warriors and destroy me. Went to dead last. Pit stopped and made my way back finishing in 12th.

All in all, paid 4K DR to race some lunatics with no regards for racing.

Funny thing is on my alt account I’m high DR B and the races have been surprisingly clean. Well, on to the next one .

It's interesting looking at the stats to see where you've been. Apparently Bathurst is my @Sven Jurgens Nurburgring. More races there than any other track by quite a fair bit. Of my 787 races, I've had 6 wins, 3 of which have been at Bathurst. My Gr4 track record was the last lot of races at Bathurst, with the GT-R. The time I set to get me on pole on Tuesday was a hair under that. Well... it's now been replaced with the WRX . I did 2 laps, somewhat haphazard to beat that.

Stats can also be deflating :odd:. After my win, I thought I must be fairly high up there amongst the DR/Ds. Yeh no... even when you distil it down to just DR/D SR/S.... I still don't rate :(. Race matching can be a fickle mistress apparently :p. It is also interesting to see the times and ratings... I saw SR/Es on the list. Maybe I'm crazy, but you have to be a very special kind of mental to end up down there.

What's to bet tonight's matching will put me on a grid of DR/A and B as the only D .

Muhahaha
Reset? You betcha! I don’t know what was put in my coffee today but I just went on a giggling uncontrolled rampage on b race.
It takes a lot of effort to get a reset. Like complete kamikaze mode...”back with another one of them block rockin Beats”

I have to admit giggling profusely while targeting all of South America in low Dr sr rooms...It took a total of three races to complete the reset. I will probably run some more tonight. I found it quite humorous that after the race where I revenge took out a known felon (probably punishable since excessive force was involved) I waited up before entering and then saw him again surrounded by several others from that nation...I have to say I just don’t know why it was just so funny at the time, it seems quite lame now...
And what’s with the my king fu is better than your Kung fu deal?
We are all Shaolin here...

Oh yeah you never go full reset. Some antics are fun but taking it too far is ridiculous

The mountain has been very kind to me this evening, showering me with clean races, fastest laps, top 5 finishes and a 3rd place finish with clean race bonus after this crazy standing start.

It was a lot less kind in SR.B this afternoon, SR.S is definitely better on the mountain.

First, the magnet effect in full effect, works every time. My car sucks in any car I pass...

Expect the occasional nuclear dive bomb, taking it to a whole new level

Penalty free of course

And getting called dirty for dive bombing

I wish PD would put at least a tiny bit of effort into explaining how racing works. Simple splash screens while the race is loading with different scenarios would help a lot already. So many people are simply clueless when it comes to how to share the track.

Great track regardless. I got my best lap time down to 2:13.931 in the Jaguar, finally breaking the 2:14 barrier. It was a clear lap so with some drafting I can still go faster. More tomorrow!

I'm at 5 and got better at 0 but still there. Whole car feels weird, i used to love it.
SLOW car. It did get a bit loose when late braking too much coming down the mountain. After 3-4 laps I just found it was slow. I kinda eyeball my speed sometimes on straights...It did hit 160 down Conrod, but barely and other cars are just faster.
It did seem to lock the rears a bit, but braking seems like a strong point to it to me after 3-4 laps...
It just seems like it lacks power to me. Late braking it coming down the hill on purpose it did get loose in the rear...
