Hi! Autopolis is fantastic in gr3. Yesterday i did 3 races in BMW M3 11', I set Q time at 1,48.xxx(only got time for 5 laps before race) started in the middle but every lap gaining position or two, lap 8 I was 5th and then..
Dissconection... Ok, another try. Started 9th, finished 4th. This races were very clean, drivers giving room, braking properly etc. Last race wasnt so good. Started 5th, after 1st corner 3th and then some ***ing italian just pushed me off the track, dirty tires, lost position, lost concentration and make mistakes, 18th, lonely race, go to pit for new tires to get at least fastest lap but didnt make it. Lost 1,5k DR. After this, I changed car on 911 and do some Q. Good decision my current time is 1,46.6xx. Cant wait to come back home and try it in a race. Only worrie about how it acts on dirty tires and tire wear. God bless you all:)

Been that way for a while. I've never seen it in person, but several people here have posted videos.

I just expected that you would be penalized if overtaking and not being cautious around yellow flags. Last saturday in nations race i lifted off the throttle when I saw cars ahead returning to track under yellow, got ass slammed by one car and passed by another. Neither got penalty, so I'm not sure it's 'always on'.

One of the most important ways I have improved my driving is smoothness. Trail braking into a corner, blending between brake and throttle at the apex and smooth steering inputs have dramatically improved my lap times. A further benefit is tyre preservation, I watched the replay of my race C victory where I went from 5th to 1st and everyone else's tyres were worse than mine, even in the same car.

I noticed same thing when finaly bought steering wheel. Some moves can not be done with DS4

That’s a lazy way of thinking honestly. I spent 2 minutes maximum on altering the LSD, lowering the camber slightly, lowering the height, and stiffing the springs slightly.
It takes months or years of practising with tunes to get to the point where you can spend "2 minutes maximum on altering the LSD, lowering the camber slightly, lowering the height, and stiffing the springs slightly" to get an effective tune.

Not trying to be a jerk but, suspension tuning is almost the only tuning allowed in RL racing events\series. You don't hear drivers saying it's unfair they don't know their opponents suspension setup, period.
Because those drivers have supsension experts, engineers and thousands of (locally relevant currency units) worth of telemetry to help them out. And in most cases, years of experience at setting up cars.
Edit: I have GT Legends and that game provides some basic, period relevant "telemetry" (tyre temperatures on return to pit) and just that makes tuning significantly easier.

It took 4 times as long to type this out than it did to change the settings in game.

It's been around for while, I've had one. I've passed under a yellow hundreds of times so either it's not always on, or the circumstances under which it's applied are very specific and quite rare.

Last week was exciting, I loved the Spa / GT4 combination. While it did at least not hurt my SR rating (B), it was a success with my Driver Rating and ended with about 19.000 Points.

This weeks selections seems on the first sight pretty meh.

Gave yesterday Tsubuka with the RX-7 a shot. I have to pretend, I had more fun and success than I expected. Qualified with a 1.02 and could improve on every race between 2nd and 4th position. Driver Rating now close to 20.000 :D

Seems like lot of people are still try to find a setup. Made some conservative tuning with lowering the ride height and softened the overall situation of the rear axle with a 260km/h transmission. Helped to gain a gap of about one car length at the long straight against the stock tuning and I had the feeling that the rear of the Mazda is now more predictable.
Have to try some more things, but a 220km/h or less transmission could be the "real deal".

Maybe I try later some races at Autopolis with the goal of restoring my SR rating back to A or S. I have the feeling that starting from the back should be the more clever idea to do so (cough turn one cough)

I’m not even that good on tuning, and I didn’t even test that setup. I guessed on everything about it.

I've yet to try race B because I thought my time isn't competetive enough. I put down several laps on low 1:01's. Now I feel I should go try after all, @ringkurier you must be DR B with that score? I have 8k something and DR C. Should be able to start fairly up front I deduce from your post.

I've done no tuning, just short shift even before I saw the bar rise at all to keep tires gripping, while flooring it. Produced pretty good times. Then again, Tsukuba has been my testing ground for every new car I've aquired so I'm fairly used to the track.

Dood! Seriously? You've been following this thread long enough that I thought you'd be with the program by now  !

Whinging, whining and complaining is the raison d'etre of this thread ;) .
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Ya like that?
Just figured I'd hold up a mirror, then turn it around.
5 races in Daily B yesterday... the complaining and apologizing in post race chat was hilarious each time.
Got 2nd twice, and just one SR down which was mysterious - was walking it out of T4 and might have grazed the left wall.

As some said, the car isn't too bad without tuning. But it was painfully obvious that a lot of drivers aren't at all familiar with Tsukuba and have no clue how to drive an RX-7. Cars going off at T1, cars spinning out exiting T4, cars into the wall under the Dunlop, cars losing it in the grass after Dunlop, cars blasting right through the braking zone into the 3rd hairpin... made for quite the entertaining spectacle.

In one of the races I was starting 4th, 2nd dumped 1st in T1, and the 3 of us began to pull away until I almost lost it coming onto the back straight, and the leaders began to disappear. So I go along thinking I'll be alone for a while when all of a sudden there is a Chilean driver right behind me exiting T1 on Lap 2. He sticks right on my bumper all the way to the back straight, gets a great run on me, and I have to let him go. He proceeds to DRIFT for the the whole rest of the race, and I could barely keep up. It was seriously one of the most amazing things I have ever seen in Gran Turismo.

Also, the Hachi Roku Limitido is juicy in Daily A... really nice power, just needs SM tires.

Ive got a mid 1.46 with the 911 which is probably as good as ill get with this car. Ive been a big fan of the nsx in the past, i will definitely see if i can best this time with this car.

The tire wear is a pretty good advantage for the race. With some careful driving my front tires have less than 25% wear by the time the race is over. I tested the Supra as a comparison and it I used up nearly half the life of the front tires, that car is tricky around this track though.

My fastest is a 46.0 on my other account, my main is 46.155. Hopefully I can hit the 45s and be relatively close to ZRT-PSYCHO who ran a 45.1 with it, nice lap.

If you stare into the abyss for long enough, the abyss stares back ;).

It should be. As a RE Amemiya it's already a tuned car .

This game only has two Hachis, and the Fake6 used in Race A aint one of em...in any form :p!

@Mistah_MCA What tune are all you PHX/PX7 guys using? Clearly it seems to be working well!

Hachi Roku just means 8-6, right? In that case there are 5 and the 3 of them are probably the most used cars in the game.

>>>Word! I mean, if we had a BR-Z equivalent I would definitely choose that.

Race C is like driving on ice, if you turn the car slides, if you brake it slides, if you accelerate it slides. Even if you get all of that under control you're stuck following the car ahead. Medium or soft tyres would race a lot better imo.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing last night. Wanted to pit for snow tires.

Had a few good races regardless with a couple 2nd places finishes, a 4th and a 7th I think. The 911 can throw a quick lap or two but then once the smallest bit of tire wear begins you have to nurse it around every single corner.

Whoever originally designed that track loves to see people suffer. It’s just blind apexes and off camber corners connected by a big boring straight.

Maybe it’s a DS4 thing, but I cannot drive MR gr3 cars worth a damn. Made the mistake of starting Race C in the NSX after only a lap or two. Lost the backend constantly, even with TCS on.

I’m gonna stick with the ones I’m comfortable with.

edit: pulled the merc out. Immediately ran my fastest lap, and my optimal is down to the mid 47s now. It’s because I can put some throttle in going around the corners, and the feedback pushes you a little wide rather than kicking the ass end out. I’ll have to keep practicing now getting twitchy on the corners to be fast in those MR cars.

That's good news to me, I really like Autopolis. It's probably on my top 5 GTS circuits.

Autopolis is kinda tricky, especially the last sector's apexes, but when you get to know the do's and dont's of the track you can easily raise positions on others' mistakes.

My best result there was a win coming from P10, on the Gr.2 C race week

Said and done, yesterday I did one go starting P2, drove consistently til P1 has done some mistakes. BOOM: 13th win, second time at Autopolis. Even though I was matched with some weak people, safe driving and consistency brought me this one.

I know this is gonna sound counterintuitive, but driving MR cars is actually easier with No TCS, it’s weird but you can save slide more by using controlled wheel spin, having TCS on doesn’t allow your to do this, with TCS on in an MR car, once she starts to go it’s gone and there’s no getting it back. But without TCS, just the right amount of throttle can catch the slide and save you a trip to the beach. It doesn’t always work, but it does work a fair amount of the time. :)

The Gr.3 NSX and Ferrari are quite problematic for wearing the rear tyres more than the fronts, and the back end becoming slidey as a result. It's a problem with a wheel as well, the back end just starts sliding out as you turn around corners, so you have to try to carefully limit the amount of steering input to avoid it happening. And every time you fail to prevent it happening, that little bit of sliding wears the rears more and the problem gets worse.

Race B. Took few qualy laps 1:00.7
Nice to have tuning, but man its slippery.
I think that the physics took step back when that lewis h TT came out.

Hope that the physics change back or even better at tomorrow update.
Oh and Laguna Seca

Spot on! I wish i would've known that prior to choosing Ferrari for 2019 manu, and honda for Manu exhibition season 1. Since i was new to GTS, for the longest i thought it was just me(of course quite a bit of it was). For the first few laps it'd be all good, then i'd spend the rest of the race just trying to stop the 458 Gr 3.and subsequently the NSX Gr 3 from spinning. It took a lot out of the FIA enjoyment. Went with Hyundai this exhibition season and i often will use the Genesis in the dailies as well. Stable and predictable.

Maybe I've been living under a rock but when did they add the penalty for passing someone under a yellow flag? Happened to me at Autopolis and it shocked me.

Happened to me yesterday. The 2nd right hander after the start/finish straight. 2 cars were ghosted, and a 3rd car was off on the grass as I entered the corner. On turning left at Turn 3, I got a 3 second penalty for passing under yellow.

The same happened again today, but in the warm up. I think it's a bug with that section of track as when 2 cars are ghosted and a 3rd, and maybe 4th are off somewhere else, where or what am I supposed to do?

It's already a slow section of the track, so you have effectively slowed down for the yellows.

To be fair, who wouldn't pick Ferrari?

If the tuning in this game was like old games where you could actually swap out parts, it would be fine, but all it ends up being in GTS is people pushing sliders all the way to one side or the other, it’s not in any way realistic to tuning a real car.
... that's how it works in every game?
