I think I am done for the week. Just lost the will to really compete at autopolis. Was still running what I thought were reasonable laps, just really couldn't be bothered that much. And after seeing the bumping and banging going on there tonight where it is so hard to pass I am calling it. Not worth ruining my race as well as someone else's just because I can't be bothered.

Got a question, can you earn enough SR during a race to negate the problem of quitting? Same guy quit both races tonight after crashing around lap 7 or 8. Still on 99 SR. Also watched 2 guys beating the hell out of each other for 3 laps until both crashed out. Both finished with blue S. Have I missed something?

I am a victim of my own anger. Yesterday I fell on the Karma wheel. I was P2 for the first 5 1/2 laps of race B, with an Italian driver as p3. P1 disappeared while we where pretty evenly matched. Hewas faster in the twisty part after t1, while I was .7-8 faster from the last hairpin to t1. So att the last hairpin he was.2-3 behind every lap.
On lap 6 he pushed me into a half spin to pass and raced off. I got mad and did what I try ever to do. I chased him down and pushed my way past him in the same corner to retain the P2 spot.
It wasn't the spot, I simply got pissed.

If you read here, sorry. I should have been the better man. I wasn't.
If you do read here and have a different opinion go watch the replay in my library and feel free to voice your opinion.

What other cars (besides R8 or 911) are people having luck with around Understeeropolis?

edit: well the McLaren is definitely not a good choice
For reference, this post refers to a SR-A/B room filled with DR-B,C,D drivers.

I just ran C with the Jag. P14 grid, P10 finish, best position P7 on a one stop strat. I was driving for SR gain with no thought for DR, treated the whole race like a familiarisation lap.

The first two laps were funny, it seemed like I was driving through ghosts on every corner  :D
Still got CRB.

So my personal tuning experiment has ended. I was able to get a lap 3 tenths faster than my best stock lap.
That’s with me trying to tune.
After trying to get the car doing what I wanted the stock tune is so so so nice to drive..
Consistent low mid 101 at tcs 3 all day.
Tomorrow I will try a professional tune and see what I think.
The car stock drives nicely, it’s predictable and balanced. Probably the only reason I beat the time I just ran stock with my tune is number of laps.
My tune ended up a little low stiff and overdamped. I dunno. Never done it before don’t have any system to apply.
So far I still don’t much like tuning.
I'm curious to see how you might go with the tune I used. Do you usually run with TCS on? Since I don't use it, I didn't really think about it, but it could make a big difference. I found the stock car terrible, with really bad, throttle induced oversteer. The back would also try to come around at turn in. The tune I ended up with tamed that alot, and gets much better traction on the drive out, though you can still tighten your line with the throttle on exit. I think it would still be much better than stock, but might push a bit...

If you quit, it's -5 SR deducted so if you earn more or equal to 5 SR during a race, there should be no difference if you're at S99.

10 Second Penalty.

Are 10s penalties back? I haven't raced since the update and didn't see anyone else mention it. If true, it's good they're taking a leaf out of the old penalty system.

I felt the old system was harsh but more fair since it penalised both drivers for contact and encouraged people to drive a lot less recklessly unlike the current.

I feel like this is what I need to do this weekend. I ran race A this week for some stupid reason and my SR just went down badly from S, if you start mid pack it's just carnage, pretty much impossible to avoid people flying into you and not get silly penalties.

All my times I have set for gr3 are tcs 3 bb 0 going back for the past year or so. Gr2 and 4 I often qual off on for race. Like gr4 Ferrari for example tcs ruins that car imo. Gr2 Autopolis last time my qual was set tcs 3 bb 0 though.
Formula car I leave it 3. Hella funny when people try to get their hands dirty when I run default tcs in race man.
Little bumps and flicks they try don’t work.
I am going to switch up the settings to the tune by Praiano today and see how it goes, but looking at the diff, it may not fit my style on Tsukuba which is cover inside pivot and goose it. Imo running a more flowing geometric line there may be faster for qual slightly, but in race you gotta own the inside curb or the field will assasinate you.
Like I said I am going to try what you mentioned, just have not had time yet.
I am kind of the counter sim culture guy on tcs in this game. I find more advantage to it than advantage with it off in most cases on gr3 or even like some of these n500.

They sure are! It looks like punting someone is a default 10 second penalty now. I'm fine with that when it works, but boy would that suck if you get that for something undeserved.

i haven't seen any 10 second ones yet, was impressed yesterday when I got brake checked by someone couldn't stop in time as it was on a straight and wasn't expecting them to stop and they got the penalty.

I am loving the 4c in race C. It keeps itself together while other cars fade. Still, it's no r8.

Also, I don't know what the uproar is about Race B. I did it last night and had the best Race B in a LONG TIME. We were 4 cars neck in neck for the whole race. I didn't spend more or less time trying to qualify. I really, really, enjoyed it. I loved that I had the car set up for how I drive it.

I would be fine if they locked down more of the settings, but I for one LOVE being able to tune again.

For me, the tuned gearbox is really nice,
The tune handles great on no tcs, but it has that slight oversteer balance that doesn’t fit me well. For really fast folks awesome.
I do best at my tcs 3 stock diff and suspension. The gearbox has way better acceleration tho with the closer ratios.
I ran this morning 8-10 laps but times only from 1:01.2 to 1:00.8 optimal 1:00.6
I rotate the car more with braking as opposed to carrying big apex speed, so the close ratio box really helps bounce off corners. My time is all about getting to full throttle ASAP.
I ran tcs 3 bb 0 everything stock except tranny today. The stock suspension to me is great. If I was a bit more skilled, I could rate better.

I like being able to race on an equal footing, and not having to tune, yet I also enjoy getting a car that may be marginal, or even bad, and making it better, or even good. I tend to like cars (and bikes) that can be steered with the throttle. It's fun, which is why I do this. The GR-3 GT-R at RBR, for me, was almost the perfect combo. Even when you get in too hot, you can gas it in the middle and tighten up your line. Any tunes I do will probably have a bit of oversteer.

I'll keep playing with this car. Who knows, I may be able to hit the top ten list if the fast guys aren't playing with their tuning much. Anyone here that uses my tune to get top ten will also give me an ego boost. That's never bad>

Next week's races are up

Race A - Nürburgring GP, N100, 3 Laps, SH

Race B - Mount Panorama, Gr.4, 3 laps, RH (fixed settings)

Race C - Laguna Seca Gr.3, 14 laps, RH, x3 Fuel, x7 Tyres...

It seems Race C is another no stop... I skipped this week's no stop, but since its a new track, I might give it a try...

Edit: with 14 laps, I'm no longer sure it's a no stop... But the pit loss is so severe, it might actually be

I for one can not fuel save, except by using fuel maps (AT) so I will likely run one stop for the fun of Laguna Seca.

Oooooo next week looks good

Would be nice if all they did was throw a hot tranny in the golf for thae A race. I fully expect that car. Hope they dont mess it up with bad BOP.

Had a handfull of good A races this morning, @Mc_Yavel was there. Great racing this morning

This is a little disappointing. I swear we had the same race B combo under a month ago.

If race B was with Gr.3 and race C was Gr.4 this would be a good looking week. Still going to do these seen as how I'm off most of next week.

Edit: should be interesting to see what's the quickest around Laguna.

We did, week commencing Nov 24th. Looking like a straight up pass for me until PD nerf the Megane again. I don't know what their obsession with constantly using Gr.4 there over and over is...

Probably Race C only for me unless the N100 (guessing it's the Volkswagen GTI) is a good drive since I don't really enjoy the Nürburg GP circuit.

After you do the C race, make sure you head on over to Cannery Row (20 minute drive), as there is this one place there that makes some DELICIOUS clam chowder.

Gosh, I miss Monterey. :(
