Truly the “Real Driving Simulator”. Make sure to buy your gas and new tires before the race and pay the track fee. Oh and get a good night’s rest and get a workout in. Driving this real car around the real track is gonna be really demanding, and if you don’t prepare properly you’re gonna see some real consequences.

I think it also depends on your level of sensitivity to tyre wear. Last couple of times out with the R8 I had the same problem. The tyre wear bar was only at 1/4 worn and for me I was *really* struggling to keep it on the track. I got less than half way in both races before I had to pit just so I could get back some control . Some drivers aren't getting any better tyre wear, but are able to adjust to the tyre wear better.

I almost wish there was tire wear in all the dailies. It sounds backward, but I often do better with worn tires. I struggle with consistency in races, especially when under pressure sometimes. I tend to over drive the car, brake to late, slide too much... but when the tires wear, I know I'll slide right off, so I back off on braking and lower corner speeds, and tend to be more consistent, and faster-relative to the other drivers. Sometimes my fastest lap comes on moderately worn tires because of better lines and less mistakes...go figure! The same thing happens when I race from the back...no hurry, relaxed, following and waiting for a mistake to pounce. And more consistent, faster laps...80% of racing is in your head.

Yes, multiple accidents with collateral victims happens in real racing.

You couldn't avoid it... then you get the consequences of crashing another car even if it was not your fault.

The less realistic scene is you going on through them with zero consequences... happy life accross accidents...

You complain about others consequences but think only about yourself and accept that if you crash you get consequences. Take care about yourself and your car, like in real life racing.

So you’re against ANY type in contact, but not against tanking your DR on purpose? Interesting.....

I was bored in DR A, too few overtakes and driving alone very often.

So I dropped to DR B that is more fun to me, some mistakes, more overtakes, sometimes A and A+ drivers in the same race... more variety.

There are great racers in DR B and great close battles.

Still interesting to you ? :)

Bored of losing? How is dropping your DR on purpose to take wins from lower rated drivers racing “Fairly”? As you put it. Cheating the system is cheating the system, weather its DR or Penalties, so get off the soap box.

Bored of finishing in the same position that was at the beggining. Sometimes in the rear sometimes in the middle...

Very few overtakes in most races as I said.

I enjoy close clean battles, that's the most interesting thing in racing for me...

I use GTS as an amateur, not as a pro, so my goal is to enjoy it, not to be the best of the best neither get incomes with GTS. So I'm not cheating the system, I'm racing as an amateur.

So the answer is to go club baby seals?

There are great racers in DR B.

Everybody don't have to race as a pro looking for points and more points.

I prefer close battles than running alone in the middle of the group. It's boring for me.

Excuse the noobery here as I've been gone from GT Sport for a long time, but if tire wear is off, does tire temperature come into effect in any way, or do they maintain a static performance level no matter how hard you beat on them? Is tire temperature/characteristic even a thing if tire wear is on?

I haven't driven much recently, but I find it difficult to discern any difference in tire performance that would be caused by temperature, whether wear is on or off. Reading your post, I figured it was proper tire temperature that was making you feel better rather than tire wear. But then I recalled temperature seemingly not being a factor in GT.

But I do feel you on the worn tires = better thing. A little wear takes the edge off sometimes, can make the car a little more predictable, less nervous. Turning tire wear on in all of the events would help condition people to be more conscious of the tires in general (a good thing) even if they would never have to pit for a given event.

I guess we know what he’s been busy with this whole time now :lol::lol:

@oneloops concede already. You have no chance of getting people onto your side of this. You are blatantly wrong when it comes to penalties and also when it comes to challenging racing. The greatest challenge comes from racing against similarly skilled drivers where a single overtake is a big deal and massive undertaking. Deliberately tanking your DR just to get easy overtakes and wins is not “real racing”. Using your own earlier reasoning what you’ve done would be classified as sandbagging and you’d receive at the least a grid or BoP penalty, and at most a disqualification from the race series.

Should PD follow the “real racing” rules for you too?

Ah, just the conversation I was looking for.

I recently bought a G29. In my limited time using it I'm considerably slower than I usually am (DR 40k) and generally feel a bit uncoordinated and out of my depth. Rather than try and race (Dailies or FIA) at a level where I'll range from uncompetitive to downright dangerous, I'd like to tank my rating and start again. What is the most effective and least disruptive way of doing this?

Not to sound like a jerk, but here goes. I used to finish mid pack or near the back, in the same position or lower than i started in. That was in dr.B. Instead of playing the system to get races i felt i could win more easily, i got better at the game. I now fight for wins with high drA and A+ drivers, and am a mid A myself. If you don't think you can get any better than i guess you gotta do what you gotta do to enjoy the game.

Still having great racing in the A race today. Hard and clean competition, just how i like it. Had a few more great races with @Mc_Yavel. That ohiobreaker guy that we were racing has been in my races all morning, great competitor, good and clean. I am not doing my best lap times today but have managed a couple wins. Including the next milestone....

Stick to the back and hit a bunch of walls, that should do it. 👍

A few suggestions:

Start from the back of races/ don't set a quali time.
Use GT league and other non-sport mode related races to practice.
Set up a secondary account and work your way up.

200 wins is a massive achievement. Congrats!!

You say this but then you're telling everyone else to treat GTS like real racing?

To treat penaltys like real racing consequences after a crash instead of crying.

I prefer consequences even if it's not my fault than being free of them because "it wasn't my fault".

It's a part of the risk of racing even in a amateur class. Consequences after crashing.

Amateur racing is not real racing?

The temp definitely goes up even with no wear. Over brake and the tires light up in red on the indicator, while performing poorly, then cool down and work as usual again.

@Granadier thanks man. Proud of every one tbh. Never thought i would get this many. I play this game for fun competitive racing, not for wins, and there are so many people better/faster than me that i honestly was excited when i hit 50 wins. which doesn't feel like very long ago but was probably a year or more lol

Maybe other people are just trying to enjoy the game as well. And imagining that a penalty is damage, when the game could just enable damage, seems like a ridiculous thing to ask. Nobody bought this game to "imagine" things.

If you want your DR down while you practice then qualify as fast as possible, on the ds4 if that's your best speed.
Then race with the wheel, run straight off in the first curve without taking anybody with you, then trundla along in the back and run into any sandpit you see. That will do it, fast.

Yeah, their latest tweaks have made it work just peachy.

You guys are seriously putting me off racing next week...
Like wtf did you actually do besides trying to hold your line and racing cleanly?

I've always enjoyed making fun of the penalty system but this time I'm genuinely concerned about it.. Just what is that? 5 freaking seconds? Are you mad?

I'd start a new account rather than spoiling the history of your main account. You can always move back to the account you're currently using once you're up to speed with the wheel.

And don't we imagine we are driving real cars in real tracks while playing GTS ?

Haha It's too hard to imagine that simple little thing or the other... of course...

Imagine having consequences after a crash... quite hard to imagine too

Also, the second account will give you a place to run with no Q, and race from the back. Really improves racecraft, and is hugely fun and challenging. Nothing feels better than to win after making up 16 positions, and get the CRB to boot!
