I really hope next weeks daily race C makes the hard tyre mandatory.

We have had this combo(group 2, fuji) with same tyre/fuel multipliers before in june but if they make the hard tyre compulsory it would at least give race a different feel.

It worked well at catalunya with super formula and now that running hybrid tyres is banned(in fia at least) it would make the race more strategic.

I'm still slow at Bathurst, but I have found some speed from The Cutting to Forest Elbow, and especially through the esses. My problem before? I was getting off of the brakes at the end of Skyline and downshifting too much and too early, getting me sideways and causing problems. I can now do 15's in a race (woohoo!).

Laguna...How the hell are people going so fast there? I think part of my problem is consistency. I've been watching my speed through the left just before the climb to the corkscrew, and I'm usually mid 90's coming out, but I have seen low + 100's, so that is a HUGE amount of time if you're talking +5-7mph all the way to the corkscrew. Same goes for Rainey...sometimes I hit it right, and the speed is amazing, but I don't really know what's different. I do think road camber has a lot to do with it, kind of like the final corner at Big Willow. Get a bit too far right, and you loose the camber and go wide.

Any tips from you fast guys are always appreciated!

Not the most exciting races IMO.

That's an understatement. It's clear some weeks are rushed without thought or imagination put into them. When I thought PD might be back on track, a week like this appears to prove me wrong.

I'm hoping for a good N300 at N24 since it's the only one I'll be doing. I can't believe they've brought back Gr.4 at Autopolis again.

I'm not all that fast but I go faster towards the Cork Screw when I tap the brakes somewhere around the middle between the 3 and 2 sign. Also I found that I can actually put one wheel set on the outside of the sausages in T2, 3 and 4. Sometimes in t6 too.

Which car are you using?

I've driven the 911, the Aston, and the Bug in races. I qualified in the Renault, but haven't raced it because of what I hear about it eating tires. I also raced the Jag in a lobby...first laps on Laguna, and I think my best was a 26 in that.

Edit: I think the best I've done in a race is a 25. My Q stands at 24.5 I think.

I don't think I'm qualified to speak as a quick person but can tell you what I've done. Firstly, qually is very different to race because it's most likely a different car, so it depends which you're trying to improve (I've not raced over the last few days as the Kudosprime site has been down and I like to track the numbers because I'm a geek). As ever, Mistah's lap guide should be a good starting pace.

I'm not a quick learner on some combinations, this being one of them. I think I've racked up over 300 miles on Laguna, many of which would be incomplete laps! Even now, my best lap has at least three errors in it. The Renault is tricky but it's definitely the quickest (For what it's worth I've done 22s in R8, WRX, 911 and AMG - I've not tried others, some of these are way more consistent than others).

The track really punishes you for running off line (not even wide on the kerbs or sausages, just off-line) so you need to try to keep it tidy and be patient. I cannot replicate the ghosts on this combo. I've got the cones on, too. I can do low 1:22s consistently but the margins get finer.

The first double apex left I brake just after the cones, down to 2nd at the first corner apex and then let the car coast a little, get it turned and focus on the exit - gentle on the throttle or it will spin up and wag its tail and time evaporates. The next right hander I dab the brake before turning in and let the car coast again, then try and get back on the throttle smoothly. If you run wide on the exit the car will spit you to the right, you've just got to be patient. I take the next right in 4th, again waiting to get on the throttle. Down to 3rd for the next left, brake after the first black bollard thing. Each one of these little straights is worth a few tenths if you get the exits right. The uphill left I take in 4th, dab brake before turning in off the throttle. Turn in at something like 105+, slightly less than that at the apex and then back on the gas as early as you can using all the kerb on exit. Brake for the corkscrew after the cones, before the crest. Use the left hand kerb. I try to drive across the gradient, if that makes sense. Too much throttle down the hill and you'll just spin so I try to give it a blip and get it settled for the right. The next left seems to be where people do different things. I stay tight/low - there's a safe option here to leave the car in 3rd, lift off and coast in to the apex and then accelerate again. The quicker approach is to accelerate up into 4th and then brake and change down to 3rd (the difference is a few tenths IF you get it right). Up to 4th before a dab and down to 3rd for the right. I brake before the 3 marker, take the corner in 2nd. Generally I trade apex speed for speed down the straights (I spun up a couple of times on my fastest lap and lost a tenth or two, and ran wide at the 3rd gear left hander at the very bottom of the hill - I can see my way to a 1:21).

Hope this helps. Post your lap up if you like and people will give you some guidance.

I've finally won a race using the wheel

(I forgot to save the replay after though, whoops)

And my DR is up to 11k, so I'm back to B which sounds much more impressive than it is

Hopefully next week's Race A is something manageable. I tried a few laps of Bathurst and Laguna Seca this week and I just have no confidence in putting any power down.

I’ve run a bunch of times on the mountain today in my newly dressed purple sparkly Megane haha.
Been starting midpack on alt. Had 3 crb in a row but last one took a 1 sec, no idea why.
I did see 2 races earlier that were a hot mess at the front with the a plus a crew. So predictable, lap 1 at the Chase usually someone gets shoved off, often 2-3 cars.
Best thing is if you are just ahead of someone brake like you are trying to save tires, this way you can take the inevitable hit but stay on track.
It’s been really fun today, lots of clean n close. I’m going in for one more then that’ll be it for the day...

So this week's races eh. Race B and C really punishes who ever is not guilty. Somebody goes of track in panorama and bounces back off wall takes you out when you pass and bam, why not give me a penalty as well. Race C seems to allow any behaviour except clean driving. Dropped one Dr level and one Sr level just from driving those two..

Btw thanks for all the replies regarding TCS. I forgot that people who use the controller need it. Some good inputs as well, like in starts etc.
Thanks

Edit: After another race gone down the sewer I'm not playing anymore. Start third, get slammed down to last and so hard to recover on Laguna seca. Catching up guys in the back and they just smash you to bits deliberately. I hate this game but racing online can be fun.. just don't want to ruin my Sr. I thought I'd never make an alt. But now I see that I need it unless I want to skip driving completely until system is fixed or some friendlier track appears.

Last race was funny. The guy starting in front of me chose the Ferrari. He was like 3 car lengths behind me at the end of Mountain Straight.
Somehow I made it through the chaos unscathed and went from 11-5. Still 99 but that one was very on edge.
Had a fella try to take me out, but...wheel.... FWD CAR....TCS....hahahaha.
Still 99 no idea how I got crb that last one...

If you can’t beat them

Join them.

Time for GTAV.

I started in Pole. I was hoping to be down the pack so I could just race. Anyway, I pit on Lap 7. Come out 2nd behind the car that finished 4th.

Homeboy wants to block on worn tyres. Six laps to go and you're going to try and race hard? I was being clean. Then, I wait for him to run wide at the final corner, which it does. I accelerate inside. Coming to the underpass, I'm being tapped and bumped into the wall to slow me. Oh hell no!

T1&2, I'm being squeezed to the sausage curb. I run it wide. I get 1 second penalty and pushed back and tap tap tap. Enough! 'Off you go".
I get 3 seconds and the AMG is still in the gravel.

There is just no need to be nasty Mano a Mano. I wind up having an excellent battle with that RC F. It was struggling, but not blocking. It chose a line and left room for side by side.
I got a run exiting the final turn and stayed way right up the hill. Down the hill, the RC F stayed left and didn't run me wide or play games.

End of the race, the AMG wants to tag me in convo. I typed, 'You pushed me into the wall and kept hitting me', 'Don't block.', 'I'm fair if you're not silly.' and left as he started typing.

I have given up for the week on Race C after it getting so dirty.
1. I don't seem to have the pace. Finally got the B lobby I wanted for a change. After running wide on that fast uphill left I was left behind again. I just don't have the pace and consistency sorted out.
2. It is getting even more dirty. Lots of constant taps, 1 guy runs wide and comes back on slow so I pass. He keeps tapping me. I pull away, nope final turn, turn 1, turn 3, uphill, lots of tapping, and not bumping, he is aiming at corners. I let him by and he brake checks me on the front straight for no penalty either way. After the race 3 of us venting on him. Other driver punted him after similar experience. Oh yeah, he gets the usual blue S.

Time to play with the livery editor or practice for NYD race. I am already slow at the track, just ruining my time dealing with the rest of that :censored:as well. But I do need practice. Done ok with the beetle and AMG, been a struggle with anything else for me. The 911tries to kill me last 2 laps.

Is anyone else finding the tire wear with a DS4 very high?

I tried the Renault and RCZ and by lap 10, my tires are cooked. By the end of the race, the cars are essentially unusable. It's super frustrating.
Tyre wear always seems to be worse when you're on a controller. It's cost me a league championship...

WTF-last race before maintenance-2nd place- Clean Race-finished at 15:02 and ONLINE SAVING FAILED-Kudosprime down again-did it register-AARGH

I race daily C now all the time i was 2nd and than last corner some stupid idiot hit me and push to gravel.
How to REPORT driver? After race? Or is some other serius chance to report.9??

Had a great race C in the 0030 slot last night. Started pole with my 21.281 Q time in the Mitsubaru WRX, got away to about 1.7s and looked after the tires. I made a slight error around half distance and the 911 and Beetle behind me got into slipstream range. They stayed within a second of me for the remainder of the race, but I was able to fend them off thanks to the tire saving I had done. I finished 6 tenths ahead of the Porsche, with the Beetle a further 2 tenths behind. Shame I couldn't save the replay because I had no space :( Saved the recording though.

One of the better races. Got as high as 3rd, with the Mepains fighting over position, instead of working together.

Didn't block up Mountain Straight, seeing how bad they were racing each other. Just let them go. Just like Craig, I "...live...live to fight another day!".
