Well I switched up from the Mustang and took some other cars out qualifying at Brands. My old favorite the Genesis surprised me. Aside from the fact I love them and drive a 3.8 R spec doesn't make me biased lol. 10 mins into driving and playing with the brake biased I put in my fastest lap by far, 1:30.19x. I was .2 slower in the first 2 sectors then normal so I know I can now get into the 1:29's. I had to share before I went to work entertaining tourists.

Wow Race B is a demolition derby of Megans and 4C's. I put in a qualifying time of 1:30.8 with the Mustang. Optimal is a 1:30.4 so I can get a little more out of it.

First race, I started off giving a guy space just to have him try and knock me off twice in the same curve. Started 7th and finished 7th, not bad for a guy taking me out on his way back to the track. Next race I learned my lesson, my car weighs more and to hold my line. Started 7th and made it up to 5th. The front group walked away from the mid field mayhem, they were out of reach by lap 4.

I'm about to take another run at Brands Hatch with the Mustang. It's surprisingly fast here!View attachment 883498 View attachment 883499
Mustang has exceptional off-throttle turn in. A product of it having one of the stiffest suspensions in Gr.4. That strength, coupled with its torque in 3rd gear, really help on tight twisting circuits.

2:35.8 with a few medium mistakes. Vs the next fastest RSR in the region (2:34.4) I’m ahead at Les Combes but messed up on middle sector. Def 2:34’s in a min here. Working on BB, have it at 1 to the rear right now to get a little rotation on entry.

Once I set a mid 2:34 I’ll do a private room and test fuel trim settings to give a good balance of speed/less wheel spin and fuel lasting.

The "fuel races" isn't the problem. No offense, but if there were no fuel burn, you would still be several seconds off a good pace if you were in the 2:41's. You should be able to lap under 2:40 even on map 2 or short shifting.

I would spend some time trying to sort out where you are losing time because it isn't a fuel issue.

Make a really long custom race with tire wear and fuel use and see if you can get your times down. Be sure to see what the BoP is for you car so you can replicate it in the custom race.
I can go quicker than a 2:41 without any trouble if I chose to, but I found that if I went quicker than a 2:42, I would use too much fuel. I can only use 14% of the fuel load each lap or else I'll need to pit. The only way I could achieve this was to put the fuel map to 6 from Le Combes to Stavelot, put it back to 1 from Stavelot to the bus stop, where I'd shift the fuel map back to 6 until La Source. From there to Les Combes I put the fuel map to 1. Between La Source and Le Combes I use 6% of the fuel load, so I have to conserve for pretty much the rest of the lap. Now how can I lap in the 2:36's using this method? It obviously doesn't work and my lack of wet weather experience is minimal at best. In fact the only other time I raced Group 3's in the wet was on Tokyo Expressway. If I remember I used traction control for that and did OK. I've also used manual gears before in a Goodwood Daily Race and found that my fuel consumption was far better. So to my pace. It seems like the only option...

Respect:

I don't think the Lexus driver is on GTP to tag but @dlshearon was lingering just behind with a good view.

I'm not game to race that close in the dry most of the time, never mind the wet. My region is rarely better than 3 orange bars ping. It's OK on the straights but in braking areas and turns it's asking for trouble. Well done both of you .

It's my all around go to car in both Gr. 3 and 4. I'll drive other cars when I'm faster with them F-Type, AMG, Supra, and of course the Genesis Coupe. My skills and driving habits keep me away from the MR cars most of the time. Maybe as more skill and better habits form I can be competitive with them.

That was a brilliant lap put in by both of you! It gives me hope that there is still some clean races to be had. Most of the time if someone can't pass they dump you in the sand and run. Shame he lost it at the end but these things happen.

Crazy that it's been nearly two years since I bought the game. My first cars were the Atenza, M4, RC F, F-Type and then the Mustang.

Used the Mustang for a good long while. It did it all. Fast forward to one of the last FIA races at Tokyo, it seemed to have fallen off a bit in top end. A few other players noticed that as well. I still like it though.

Those are some nice cars you got there!

I've had GT sport for about the same amount of time, except I never played it or even used my PS4. Long story but life was chaos up until spring of this year. Tho I've been hammering GT pretty hard the last few months. Once the weather gets nice I'll spend more time at the track and on two wheels. But I'm planning on getting a wheel hopefully at the end of Feb.

Just did my first Spa race, started pole and got a early lead but then caught myself napping lap 2 and biffed my braking zone for Les combes, not bad but cost me my gap. Then at 1sec, built it up to 9 casually but then 3rd got past second and started pulling me in.

Still had a healthy gap so I just stayed calm and set casual laps knowing I’ve got a buffer. Went from 10sec to 5sec at the end. Had he been closer, could have been interesting. He was in the NSX to my RSR. Time for another.

Edit: 3 for 3 so far, back to 50% ratio lol 1 more then bed. Make that 5 for 5. Bed. Work in 4hrs lol

At the risk of jinxing my own luck I will say this - I am having a good run in Race B this week. Managed to do only one race last night but started 12th, and finished 6th, and got a CRB too. In a field full of Megane trophy's, I was the only WRX. I have found good comfort and peace with the WRX at Brands Hatch. Need to shave off a few seconds from my quali time though.

Need to spend some time on Race C now :D

Was just in a race with CLowndes. A green RSR was trying to dive up my inside and I had to keep discouraging it . If I would just wait. Anyway, it gets ahead and battling with CLowndes and a couple other cars. Down Blanchimont and the RSr just pings CLowndes off the track. I was going to serve it, but justice prevails and the RSr goes off on its own.

In another one with CLowndes. Drag to the finish.

Thought he got offed by that 991 again. I had a shaky start. The Beetle got ahead and battled with the front runners. When I caught up, the same green 991 had just punted the Beetle into the gravel. I was too far to do anything, but caught CLowndes at the final chicane.

The Mustang in both Gr. 3 & 4 is where I cut my teeth in this game. Back then, it wasn't a case of what was faster for me to drive, but it was about me getting better as a driver in a car I wanted to use. Maybe that's why it took me so long to get my first win. As I earned more credits, I tried more cars & found some were faster. I can't lie, I only have 2 wins in MR cars, including my first win on a wheel. Keep practising, keep building skill, & you'll find a car that suits you best.

I have been driving the game for a year, and I still mostly use the Mustang. Down here in C and D it's competitive too, because it's us drivers that are the limitations. So I hang on to it, it's like second nature to me now.

Hehe in C and D just about *any* car is competitive, it's whatever suits you. In my case that's just about anything that *doesn't* have a Ford badge :P.

In my youth I drove American Ford V8, I guess that's why I still do.
Chevrolet was always more usual where I lived, because a Chevy Small block can be made fast by anybody, there are so many cheap parts, while Ford where for the one who dared to make his own solutions ;)
