I wish people would have this patience more often. It's so much easier to hold the draft and not mess people's races up until you have an opening. My favorite spot to pass this week has been heading into Indianapolis. I'll tail someone, coasting into the hard braking zones and conserving my resources, and then finally use the draft to take the inside path on the way out of Mulsanne corner. It's an easy place to pass cleanly, and as an asshole hybrid driver, it's the best place to make sure I don't get overtaken immediately after. I've had good luck passing there and then pulling a decent gap over Group C cars on the way back to Mulsanne straight.

Edit: In other news, I just can't see myself doing much daily racing next week. We've had a decent run of choices, so I guess I can't complain too much.
Nah, not all hybrid drivers are arseholes. Just the ones who rear end the hell out of me if they are close on a slower corner, or the ones who feel it is their right to pass me no matter what because of their car being META. Even when they can't drive it.

Despite my grumps last night I have had good fun races against hybrids this week. But some that were clean earlier in the week are getting nasty now. One who was fun on Tuesday and Wednesday was pushing me off the side of the track and rear ending me last night, even when I left them room.
Oh well, must mean it is weekend driving.

so much this ,between those who block you on straights and those who punt you if you dare pass them , you know what is common with these people? they always end up with a blue S

That has happened to me several times. Also, the first 3 turns in lap one are a total punt-fest, with seemingly no consequences in terms of penalties. Why do people think this is a good way to race?

All that mayhem really trashed my DR rating, and it only gets worse in the lower rating levels. Come on people.

Just as the rev counter turns light blue.

I do tend to use the higher gears in the race, so maybe there‘s the difference?
Then you are, technically, short shifting. I haven't done any comparison between short shifting and lift-and-coast to see which is more effective. But if you're finishing the race with fuel left you might as well use a couple hundred rpm extra, especially in 5th gear.

What a disaster! One day after I finally got to Dr a, my Sr drop from 80 to 33 in two races (with a grand total of 1 sec penalty in those!!! ) and I got my furst raset dropping to 15k Sr. Dragon trail gives dragon trail takes, I guess.
Now, I know there is nothing I can do about it and it s mostly my fault, but that s completely different from what I read on kudos (if your Sr goes below 30 your Dr "drop" to 50k, below Sr 15 Dr 10k, below sr 5 Dr 7k) so what are the real values for the reset?

I've had mostly clean races this week at Le Mans but last night a dirty French guy took it upon himself to ram, side swipe and lunge me. Eventually dropped down to SR A after just getting DR A+ on my "2nd account" (which is actually my 4th lol). Only took 8 racing days to get to A+ but was still a bit worried I would get a reset.

But overall it has been my most enjoyable Sport Mode week ever. Also set what might be a top 10 pad user time in the world. Not sure how many of the top 40 players in the world are pad users but I'm guessing not many?

I guess I am, then. :) I don’t have much left, usually only around 0.2 or 0.1 laps, so it’s working out fairly well.
for me.

Just had an interesting Race B... had to take my 5yo back to her bed after she woke up, thought I had plenty of time and heard the ‘ding’ of race start as I walked back.

Quali 7th, dead last 15th by the time I sat down - fought my way through the carnage back up to 7th - both DR up & SR back up to 99 :)

There sits before you a broken man!

While on lockdown I have had all week to try and improve my time <s> Thumbs worn to stumps. Blood shot eyes. Ground teeth. Despite my best efforts I am still only at 1.40.xx for Dragon Trail.

Lost count I have of the number of time I have wrecked at the bus stop. There is a little piece of me buried in the wall at the hairpin.

I sit here, weeping silently, wondering if another easter egg or a beer will make me feel any better.

Stay safe folks.

Regards.

Ian.

Well, another Race B & the first time someone tried to pass me going into the Chicane of Death - he later knocked someone else off & then spun out - looks like he quit before the end... down to SR E for him in the results!

EDIT: I seem to be quali 5th-6th at the moment, but if I get punted early on it’s almost more fun fighting back through the pack from 15th to 5th,?than it is trying cleanly to get up to a podium from 5th

I did 8 races (EDIT: Race Cs) on my main account today.

Finished in 2nd four times, three times in 3rd and once in 5th, mixing it with many A+ drivers.

I started anywhere from 3rd to 8th and made up positions every single time and participated in some great battles in the process. I also, as the result of a 2 1/2 year cumulative effort, made up a rank, from A to A+.

My overall DR gain is around 8300, although I believe that might be slightly inflated because of the “buffer” you get when you move up. (Is that still a thing?)

The fact I didn’t get a win rankles a bit, but there was always that one driver who was just a little bit faster / profited from the clean air at the start and bolted. And I *did* get a fastest lap.

One interesting observation: I’m much closer to the ultimate race pace in my rooms than I am to the actual pole times. I probably won’t try and improve my single-lap time this week, but it’s definitely something to think about when this combo comes up next.

A few great races in a row, followed by a f*ing puntfest where I got slammed 3 times - after that I punted back.

Down 1450 DR & 10 SR for that one race.

It’s not just the punting either, it’s when someone gets alongside you and starts to push your car, like WTF give some space.

Me too, was stuck on a 40.1 all week but optimal were high 39s. Ran a 39.6 last night, the exit on the tight right before the chicane fest is critical, as is the chicane of death itself, I let up on my entry speed and gassed through it harder and that got me my time.

No race reports as such. It's been a crap week. It started crap, was crap half way through, and finished crap. I had a disconnect that didn't loose me any points but dropped my SR by 5, then again by more from over ambitious Toyota drivers, and the icing on the cake, Tonight's race. I started P9/17 on a mixed grid of DR/B, C and D.. mostly B. I cross the line P6, then before it can get to the screen where it shows you how many places you went up if you did, I was disconnected. So instead of gaining points, I lost 1k :banghead:. One more of those and it's back to DR/D .

PD has great troubles keeping their servers up to the pressure.

Oh Le Mans, you beautiful beast. After more than 1,000 km of driving over the last two days I just did a 3:23.2 in race trim… no traffic, but obviously no slipstream either.

I surprised myself, that lap was pretty much as close to hooked up as I ever got this week. I was a bit more aggressive with the revs, and actually had to save a bit of fuel in the end. And, after watching the replay, I did cut it very fine with the track limits…

Unfortunately, we got robbed of what might have been a good battle thanks to a nonsensical time penalty for the driver behind… afterwards, they lost the slipstream and I think they just went into conservation mode.

I don’t doubt that there’s still more time to find, particularly through the slower sections (looking at you, Arnage), but all in all I’m very happy with my efforts this week.

Sarthe was pretty clean until noon today. I started early to enjoy the clean early hours, then in the 12pm (EST) race I saw some troublesome names join in and narrowly avoided a dive bomb right at the start. (I had one car starting behind me). Racing at max SR is not as fun though, it's all TS050s with a couple LM55 VGTs thrown in. It does make it easier to get the clean race bonus, or rather I 'only' end up passing half the field. The TS050s at the top are too fast. I always beat the other GR.C cars, well until XRaveniiix showed up for a race doing 3:25 in the 962C

I managed to get a couple high 3:29 laps without drafting, still improving. I know where I can gain time, I'm too much of a stickler at keeping 2 wheels inside the white lines all the time yet it always feels good to be the one without the dot lol. Shortcut penalties don't trigger that easily, just in some places where half an inch over the white line can already be enough (randomly).

From down to 6 SR, reset from 31K to 7K DR, back up to 99 SR and 25K DR. Ready for the Nord :nervous: It will be a rough Easter Monday...

so you want to make a pass on the outside of Porsche ? nope you will be shoved aside by that toyota you just passed

the most infuriating for me is the second part of the playstation chicane , you can go all over the kerb at the entry but if you dare put half a wheel on the kerb of the second part its instant shortcut penalty , i get those almost all the time , it ruined my last race because i got one on the freaking start

If I hadn't gone for "one last race before I'm too drunk" last night I would have ended up with another peak in DR at the end of the day. Made it to 22k before I realised I was a tad too merry for racing  Still not entirely sure why I've done well around Sarthe, possibly due to Ferrari TT. Got a win early in the week thought I'd screenshot it but hadn't :banghead: Managed a good few podiums, my aim is to be in the top 10 at the chequered flag, so it has been a good week overall
Think it's mainly going to be the green hell of the Nord and and the RBR in Nations nxt week, I have 4 wins at each track so the odds are good. If I do manage a win I'll figure out how to share vids :gtpflag:

Raced C a few times this morning. Q time put me mid-pack in the Yota. Figured I'd give it a shot. All A and A+ drivers in front of me, but anything but clean. @Sven Jurgens was at the back, and finished right behind me. I switched accounts, got in the 962 and started last, right behind Sven. Start was bad when the guy in front of Sven hit the brakes about 100 feet early, sven got into him, I got into Sven, he got 2 sec, I got 1, the guy who started it got nothing. Then he punted me into the first chicane after I passed him, and I played catch up all race. I did reel in Sven on lap 4...got within about 3 seconds, I think, but I burned alot of fuel doing it, and hit 1 lap to go in the Porsche curves. Some extreme short shifting got me through, but I was loosing time on Sven, with nothing to be done. It was a fun race, making up positions, and dodging divebombs, but I was hopeing to hook up with Sven, draft and pass each other to make time and save fuel, and show up a few more TS 050's. Maybe next time. Hope its a fun car at the Nord.

I tried some B‘s and C‘s today but it was rather frustrating. I don‘t know if it‘s the Lockdown/Quarantine that makes people agressive and indifferent but races felt like Formula One on Bristol Speedway with 19 Pastor Maldonado Clones.

Rather enjoyed a good book this afternoon and now „Herbie goes to Monte Carlo“ (influence of Pinot Nero guaranteed)
