I've turned into a Volkswagen Beetle driver, bugger
It seems to the be the only car fast and stable enough to take on the GTR crew.
Tried the Mitsubishi around Kyoto, as that's top time on my friends list, couldn't get within 0.5 sec of my best.
Had a shot in the Peugeot VGT as that's got most of the top times. Managed to beat my best and get it at a tad under .17, just.
Having some great races and then some awful ones but I'm not chasing DR so I let the aggressive drivers get on with it. Can be canny funny watching the carnage. Hitting my target of being in the top 10 90% of the time

Give the M3 a try. Pretty rapid and easy on the tires. Turn in isn't as sharp as the EVO, but it's pretty handy around here.

What are the chances that the N100 will be rear wheel drive. I hope so. Would be a good combo for me. FWD, not so much because I hate them.
Guessing it's some flavor of Miata, either the touring car with the awful BoP they apply or the NA generation street car. C is probably the red bull junior?

Like you did three times in that three-lap video (and on a previous video at Alsace in the 208s, also right at the start of the race).
Now you're just confusing me with someone else because I have never posted an Alsace video. I'm not even sure I've even raced that track in GT Sport, ever.

Another day on Race C, and really loving the competition, despite iffy internet today with everyone at home draining the system of course.....Got time in for 2 races, both "chargers from the back"!! ;)

A tense last lap and a half in the second......You really do meet more decent racers in the lower rating divisions....

Both wins on a HS/ML3/ML5 strat.......32 places gained lol not bad....... But remember........................

Seal clubbing.

Met this clown in daily race A this morning. dropped a bunch of us into the crap lobbies. SR down 15 points. This was in an SA lobby

BTW thanks to you guys I have finally figured out how to actually find my saved replays and make video clips. I get older and dumber every minute.

Not everyone is against you. Rock on, brother. Do your thing. 👍
All of these jackasses giving you a hard time have done the same sort of things (intentionally or accidentally).
It's really a non-issue.

This look reasonably aggressive to me. Keeping in mind 1st lap events, you did a good job keeping it together. just my 5 cents.
I can't come on here and complain about other drivers when I'm guilty of the same tactics from time to time, so here you go. I saw the battle, I took a slightly slower than normal approach to the apex, but I suppose I was expecting them to remain 2-wide through the entire arc of the turn, I did not expect the under-cut and by the time it played out, I looked like the schmuck ramming him off. I'll sleep fine though, because the driver that got side swiped was the one who caused me to spin out at the beginning of the race.

Love how you are taking the lines even on the last lap! Pretty smooth!

Decided to dust off the NA alt account to reset my racing last night and get away from the regulars I was seeing in race C. Had a couple goes at Alsace, and it was fun but some of those races the pack just ate itself up. Got a couple p2s. Accidentally rammed some guy at the second hard right after the hairpin, the 90 degree one. I simply forgot what corner it was like an idiot. Waited, we finished where we started and had to apologize as we were on the tail of the lead group at the time. Sadly I was not drinking to do that.:dunce:

Also bounced into race C with the Atenza. Not a bad little car for that. Surprisingly able to mostly even out with some of the beetles I was racing. Tried the 2 stop and it definitely depends on the car, your style, and the field. 2 races I got pushed off, brake checked and punted by 2 total:censored:🤬🤬. And wasn't able to get revenge. Although I beat both of them in those races, 1 because he crashed himself out, the other got the tire penalty:cheers: Driving around those types just eats the tires.

Last race of the night I had BOTH in the field.:D

Tried to pass the worst of the 2 clean, and he promptly tries to punt me into the wall, but I was ready for it so it only pushed me slightly wide. And he got 2 sec for it which he had to serve only a couple turns later so I was clear there. Next guy comes out of the pits on a different strategy and pulls his usual, bump me in braking, get inside and push me wide on exit. But again, seen it before so eased to fall in behind. He gets lose at the first track meeting so I get inside and he goes straight to slamming me into the turn and on exit. I ease off, heading into the next track change I just cut inside as he takes a wide line. I have left space but he cuts in and hits me anyway. Side by side up to the hairpin at the top of the hill and I am on the outside. He goes to push me wide to take his line. I brake early to do a cut back and he drives himself off:lol::cheers:

Victory is mine! Wasn't how I planned to spend my races but as long as I am going all out to be contact free I feel deliberate crap like that needs to be dealt with. SR down due to the number of door slams I got by being stupid enough to be beside these people but oh well. Still in S.

I will have you know everyone here is FAR beyond doing any of the abhorrent actions sometimes recorded and shown here involving CONTACT WITH OTHER CARS IN SPORT MODE!
Speaking for myself sinking to such a low level has never crossed my mind.
Wash your mouth out with soap.

It's crazy how it works, nowadays. I did an A race today, where I guess I bumped my L2 button before the race, which made me start in Reverse. Not the first time. Anyways, then I got an SR down when someone rear-ended me. 99 to 89.
Next race, I'm on the pole again, and P2 tags me at T1. I got an SR down and did some lawn mowing. Later in that race, I got 2 more SR downs for people running into me. 89 to 55.
I lost 44 SR points in 2 races where I honestly never hurt a single person. :boggled:

I did one race C, wrong time, 7:30 pm time slot, of course its dirty. I avoided one dive bomb, steering back to the outside corner to avoid his missile, then had to drive almost off the road to avoid his 'recovery'. No contact but another person taught that dive bombs are a good way to pass. I couldn't completely miss the next dive bomb, he hit my rear right bumper, spun me out and continued. (Later quit cause he crashed) Then a no TCS hero lost control and used my car to stabilize himself, spinning me out. Oh well dealing with idiots at 7:30pm it's expected.

The good part, I pitted lap 1 for mediums and had a great battle with another Canadian for 5 laps, close contact free racing, pitting at the same time right behind each other, swapping positions briefly a couple times, but my careful avoidance driving put him back in front each time until he lost the car and went wide. I build up a 8 second gap after that, passed another out of control car and finished 10th, 1:01 behind the leader thanks to the early spin outs. I did keep the clean race bonus, no penalties, good race for 5 laps, overall a great race for today's low standards.

However the spark isn't there, more Streets or Rage 4 for me tonight.

Next week another low unless the daily C car is something fun to drive. I doubt it will work though with all the corona lag that has infected the GT Sport servers. 15 laps, must be a fast car, fasts cars plus lag :ouch:

Beginner racing technique question: What is the best way to handle the situation where you gain a lot of ground on the car in front at the end of the straightaway, but not enough to make the pass in the ensuing hairpin? If I keep my regular braking point on the outside before the turn, then I'll run into the car in front, but if I try to aggressively make the pass then I'll probably cause a wreck too, or spin out of the hairpin.

I'm trying to be very clean with my driving (have maintained SR 99 consistently), so I have found myself braking way too early to safely avoid the car in front, and then I lose all of the ground I've gained on that car after the turn.

Any advice or ways to practice this? This has come up a few times this week for me at Kyoto in the big downhill before the hairpin. For that track, there might be a tire-wear component to how best to handle this too I imagine. Thx!
Brake a bit earlier, but a bit lighter also. Once you start closing in on them, you can squeeze the brake just a bit more, to control the distance. Keep it tight in the corner, as you being “close enough” often causes the player to outbrake themselves, resulting in an easy position gained. Showing an attack can be better than actually attacking in many cases, just master the softer braking a bit earlier and concentrate on clean exits.

You may not have meant to run him off the track, but you didn’t pull over and wait for him after doing so either. If you run someone off my mistake, you pull over and make sure he’s in front of you before continuing on, regardless of how many other positions it costs you to do so.

I lost 8 positions at Kyoto today waiting for someone I slid into to come back onto the track. Seriously, if you ruin somebody's race the least you can do is ruin your own in apology.

Better add an adjustment to my earlier long post. Victory is mine was simply finishing above the 🤬. Was only p11, but after starting from p19 that sounds pretty good after all that mess. Was still only 0.5 behind a pack of 4 beetles too.

I also gave up 2 spots putting someone back ahead of me after screwing up the final chicane at Kyoto and having to wait for them. 🤬 happens, it is how you handle it in the end.

After a few more races in Kyoto, managed to make it to A-Level!!! Now, the conundrum for me is whether to keep playing and chance going back to B or keep at it, lol... I guess no more races for today, already did a few and I’m toast (last race, was comfortably in 3rd, but 4th was catching up quickly because of a couple of small mistakes, second to last corner the pressure won and ended up messing the exit and giving 3rd position away...)
Great sharing the track with you last night. Seemed like everytime you made a mistake, I'd get close, then I'd make a mistake and the gap would open back up . I was more than happy with 4th, until the gift. Thanks for racing clean, and fair. Good luck out there!

Thanks!!! it’s pretty awesome having raced someone from the forum!

Still getting nervous, even though is just a game, lol... Hope to share the track with you again soon :)

Cheers!

Honestly, I wouldn't be opposed to penalties being dished out to BOTH drivers when ANY contact occurs.
So take that instance on the last chicane where you missed your braking point and purposely drove into the car ahead, in that scenario, you'd want both drivers to be penalized for something YOU did? An incident that was entirely out of the front drive's hand??
That's just insane...

The radar is for people still driving on the roof of their car.
I like how your phrasing sort of insinuates that driving on roof cam is something people eventually graduate from...
Like "yeah I started on roof cam, but now I'm better so I'm on bumper cam":lol:

The radar is useful for everyone... People "still" drive on roof cam because that's what they're comfortable with..

Hoping for Super Formula for race C
I too hope SF cars make a return, but the rolling start makes me thing it won't happen...
Plus, I think 15 laps aren't enough to get that 18 to 20min sweet spot PD loves for race C..

Give the M3 a try. Pretty rapid and easy on the tires.
The M3? Easy on the tyres? Nah mate, we're not driving the same car (or you're most likely just better than me )
