A wheel isn't necessary to be comfortably with manual gears. A wheel isn't even necessary to be highly rated

I know there are top drivers that use a controller, and manual, but I simply can’t do it. For immersion and excitement I don’t think there’s any replacement for a wheel. Even if it isn’t necessary for fast lap times

Hey guys just throwing this out there. If you're tired of reckless driving in Sport mode but enjoy the one-make spec races check out SNAIL. We have a very large player pool spread across 4 divisions so no matter how fast or slow you are there will always be clean competitive racing for you to enjoy. Theres also quite a few GT Academy drivers that competed in SNAIL.

We race Sunday nights at 630pm pst/930pm est. 3 different combos. Combos change weekly by the winners each week so its a completely interactive process. All points and race data are tracked. And a Buttkicker was just given away that coincided with the F1 race.

Are you on about the lobby on Saturday, if so I entered that number twice but it kept putting me back to the start so I guessed the lobby had ended.
 
My last race at Interlagos was pretty much screwed after I got a time penalty when the car I was trying to overtaking pushed me so far to the inside I was forced (too far) over the line of the pit entry.... It’s pretty hard to scrub off a time penalty without losing too much places.

I got a 6 second penalty for driving over the inside grass on turn 1 in Interlagos today (only 2 wheels) because someone was too aggressive and ran me off the line coming from behind me.

Seems a bit excessive? 6 seconds?!? Finished 2nd to last since it was only a 3 lap race. Started 4th. Ughhh
 
Well my luck just turned!

Wasn’t having much luck in the first few races, tried different cars, but my last race I got pole (my first*) and controlled the race from there to my 3rd ever victory :)

Now I can go to bed a happy chappy :cool:

*technically my second, as I got pole in a race when the public demo was released, but that result never got carried over to the full game unfortunately.

Got penalty twice today on same turn, first lap 3 seconds and then another 2 for not even sure what.

All in all, 4 races, Sr went from A to B (S yesterday).
I thought it was bad enough in sr S, boy was I wrong...
Interlagos and 3 laps is a racing cancer combo for sr rating. The usual stuff, my car being used as a braking wall, impossible overtakes that end up with my sr going red and so on.

I'm only dr C, how is it on higher dr rating, bit better I'm guessing?

Im Dr A and it just gets worse...
The penalties are tougher and everyone has illusions that they are 'the clean ones'. you get matched with lower ranks who dont have the same penalties as you for the same infraction.... theres no hope...:lol:

I think I'll stay out of races with less than 10 laps, those seem to be worst lol

Hope Tokyo comes soon again, that one always boosts sr xD

I feel your pain. I am DR B SR S, and it depends on the lobby. The other day we raced 6 cars in a tight pack around Maggiore and no problems whatsoever. Clean passes, people respecting your lines, it was great.

Today in Interlagos, I get bumped and hit in the first turn in 2 out of 3 races and ruins my races because of someone way in the back of the pack trying to dive bomb to gain 3 or 4 positions. Luckily I was able to finish 3rd on my last race and got some DR points back that I lost.
 
Gotta say I'm very positively surprised atm - kind of happy even :).
I'm back from Interlagos doing 5 consecutive races there ( looks like I'm always doing 5 in a row ).
Grand slams for the first three with full AS grids, then came upon some top 10 racers for the next 2 runs.
Came in on 6 and 2, great to see that I can keep up somehow.
Best thing was, I've never had 5 in a row that were that clean ... very relaxed, patient, precise racers there ... actually a wonderful race night :cheers:.

You did not need to slow down before the line - I feel guilty now :lol:.
Stepped on my brakes as soon as I noticed. You "won" though. Will try to give you payback next time :D.

It is good to read this, even if I experienced completely different. It gives back the hope - maybe I was just attended the wrong time, maybe I was just unlucky today with the matching...
By the way, if anybody can help me: is there a good, in-depth writeup about the penalty system? I was advised to just forget about the seconds, they will be deducted at the end. Today I got some and and didn't bothered with it, then realized it is getting up and up... Then I see here that different player ratings means different penalties?!? So it is an illusion to expect any opponent to take the same care as I am, about our lines if we are side-by-side.
