Once someone starts purposely trying to run me off the track, I stop caring about points/finishing position. He’s getting taken out, period, there is no need for people to act like that.

I had to pay someone back last week at Sardegna. I showed it in my video. One guy got me later in the week. I told him in the chat that I wouldn't forget, & I surely won't forgive.

Ran a race C in NA, started p11. Taking my time to let the tires warm I stayed in position (moved up a little for people running off) untill the esses after the Big Banky Boo where the 3 cars ahead tangle and go off. I take the inside line thinking it would be safe bit one of the cars spin and hit me soI get thrown off and into the wall. 3 second penalty for forcing another car off the track.
Well, I press on. At lap 4 I am up to p8 when a guy in a BMW tried to go inside and T-bone me. Another penalty, 1 second this time and back to p14.
But he waits for me! This put a smile on my face Thank you!
I finished in p11. Both guys apologiese in post race chat.
It wasn't a great race but it restored my faith in my fellow racers! That's worth more than the SR I lost, 12 SR down.

Yeah, he outwitted you and you rage punted him, losing a podium place in the process.

Very mature.

Interesting perspective. Respect your opinion, but disagree. Leaving a gap, then trying to squeeze someone in to the wall, is not outwitting them, it's being dirty.

He got what he deserved for trying to squeeze someone off the track.

But then again, maybe you were being sarcastic.

The TT tried to push him off the track

The guy turned in on him like 3 or 4 times, then tried to run him into the pit wall? WTF was he supposed to do there? I’d have run the guy right into the outside wall for pulling a BS stunt like that.
Sturk had all four wheels off track and tried to re-enter the track when there was a car there. It's not the responsibility of the other driver to move over for a car re-entering the track.

Guys, the next time you think about revenge punting, remember this quote from Carlos.(skip to 1:17)

I might be aggressive, I might have hit people by mistake, but I can very safely say that I have never punted, or revenge punted someone. I might get angry at times, but I completely agree with Carlos. If you get punted, you don't lose much, maybe just a bit of DR. You know inside yourself that you could have gotten fourth place, so don't spend too much thinking about whose fault it is!

The guy left just enough gap and sturk went for it, realizing he’s going to get passed, he simply tried to ran him off, i think once someone managed to get their nose halfway , you just got to give them space , Period.

And that happened because the Audi TT was practically blocking Sturk and gave zero room to pass as Sturk pulled alongside because of slipstream.

Right. Like I said, I don't know if there are any racing rules that say he was supposed to make room.
I just think that what he did wasn't nice. I don't agree with blocking on straights. He started all the way to the outside, then went all the way to the inside, once I moved to the low side. Even though he may be allowed to do it, I think it's unsportsmanlike.

I think what you're missing - which everyone has tried to tell you in different ways - is that the TT driver did not try to move to the inside line and block Sturk until Sturk had already moved to the inside and started to pull alongside him. The only reason Sturk had 4 wheels off track is because the TT driver forced him off track.

He left the door open, and you rightfully went for it. He tried to do everything he could to block/wreck you. How this can be called anything but dirty by the Audi is beyond me.

"Block" isn't the right word in this situation. Blocking would involve getting in front of Sturk before Sturk started to pull alongside him. On a straight, Sturk has every right to that track position. If they were going into an actual turn in those positions then it would be Sturk's responsibility to back out. But that little bend is hardly a turn requiring position and it flattens out into the pit straight pretty quickly. You can't just turn into someone and force them off the track because you don't want them to overtake you.

Under normal circumstances, keeping a cool head is likely the correct decision. However, I take a bit of a differing opinion with the bold part of the quote. I have no problem losing a position, DR, or a win to someone who is faster or more talented behind the digital wheel. But I can't begin to be OK with losing DR (& likely SR as well) if someone decides to not use their brakes until they plant their car squarely in my rear bumper or door. This is why revenge punts happen. Typically, when the initial punt happens, the lead car gets launched into a sand pit or wall, killing their speed instantly. If that car is lucky, the game will give the punter a slap on the wrist with a time penalty. But we've seen that not happen so many times that it makes a mockery of the game's sportsmanship video. These "racers" need to be given a return punch in the mouth as a reminder that you can't be taken seriously as a competitor if you can't drive seriously.

Does the same apply here in your opinion? Initially I did get irked with being pushed wide, but gave back the position.

I think the end is very similar to @sturk0167, with the driver opening the door, then deciding to close it.

Sturk takes a line that will put him off track, leaving the racing line to the TT. There's no contact until Sturk moves right, in a left turning part of the track, to avoid going off track. The point being, Sturk put himself behind the eight ball by going too far left, onto a line that was disappearing, not because of the TT but because of excessive use of the pit road.

No, your line is on course to stay within track limits and the car on your outside is the one that initiates contact.

The penalty times are a joke for being punted off track, even when they're handed out correctly.

I went from P3 to P14 in the last FIA season getting punted from a guy three positions back. Total divebomb into T1 on the first lap. He gets 4 seconds dropping him *maybe* from P3 to P4. Might as well not have gotten a penalty then...

Maybe on this one. We can agree to disagree. I see what you're saying. But, the TT was on the outside, only swinging across the road, because he realised that Sturk had the run on him.

So yes, I get what you mean that Sturk went well over to the other side of the road. But had the TT not changed lines to close the door on Sturk, there would have been no contact and there in lies my point. That the TT is at fault for the contact.

Should be illegal for a car to look this good...

Currently rank 7 EMEA on a 1:55.457 with this car. Still quite a bit of time in the lap, especially S4!

It's like you're watching a different video than everyone else. (Or just digging in your heels to be obstinate.) It's clear that Sturk went right to try to go to the outside, the TT swerved right to block him. Sturk swerves to the left to go inside. That initial inside line does not put him on a line to go off track. But as soon as Sturk is on the inside line, the TT starts squeezing him. Sturk drifts left to avoid contact. In drifting left to avoid contact he ends up on the pit lane gore point. Again, it's pretty clear that the only reason he's there is because the TT squeezed him there, not because he decided he wanted to jump so far to the inside as to end up off track.

I've been squeezed off track exactly in the same way several times. I've occasionally lost my cool with the people that have done that to me, as well. It's very much intentional on their part and people who do it should expect people to react in kind on occasion.

Mean while in another part of the forest...

There sits before you a complete and utter muppet!!!

I managed to misread the brief for this weeks race. Lago Maggiore.

At this circuit I managed my first win after two years of trying. I managed several pole positions also. Imagine my delight when I discovered (thought!!!) that this was a chance to record more wins. I spent several days practicing and managed to get my time below my all time best
( I am going to decline to post that time but it is well below 2 minutes)

Shock. Horror. Disbelief and anger....

Lago Maggiore II - Reverse.

Now my best time is just about two minutes and I am a plonker!

Roast away folks. Roast away!

Regards.

Ian.

Sturk should have just hooked his left rear quarter with his right front and did a good old fashion pit maneuver.

No he didn’t, Sturk is on the Qually/Fast line, his inside tires are on the white line. That’s the line all the fast guys use, and is completely legal in GT Sport. Since that’s the point you wanna be picky about. The other guy had the entire width of the track to use, and chose to drive into him.

I think part of the disagreement might be that the TT is on a perfectly normal line for a car running by themselves, maximizing exit speed up the hill and then minimizing distance to the finish. The issue of course is that the TT is not running by themselves, and once sturk has an overlap he's entitled to room on the circuit by the rules of most series. This is exactly the same reason why, for instance, Albon got penalized at the Nurburgring last week.

You're really pushing your point of view.
I would say do not try and push someone into a wall because you made a slight mistake or from the other point of view, take advantage of mistake unless your actions risks others. Sturk did nothing wrong.
Your Kudos is a bit suspect, been playing GTsport long ?
