Because I'm a nerd and I can't help myself I took a look at what tracks have been run as daily races as far back as week 1 of 2020 (these started on Dec 30th but for the most part ran in January). For these statistics I am counting different layouts and directions as separate tracks. E.g. Autopolis and Autopolis Short count as two different tracks, as does Lago Maggiore GP versus Lago Maggiore GP II.

So that's 43 sets of 3 for a total of 129 possible tracks to be run.

During 2020 we've run 46 different tracks. For those of you keeping score at home that means a whole lot of repetitions!

The top-10 most run tracks account for 45% of all the 129 daily tracks.

18 tracks were run only once.

28 tracks were run twice or more.

Out of those:

8 were run twice.

4 were run three times.

7 were run four times.

3 were run five times.

3 were run six times.

2 were run seven times.

1 track was run a whopping 8 times.

Let's try something fun: Try guessing which track was which out of the ones run the most times before you check the answers. See if your memory beats your confirmation bias. I'll give you a hint: this game is made by a Japanese developer, this seems to correlate with the frequency of the most-run tracks.

8 times: Autopolis
7 times: Suzuka
7 times: Fuji
6 times: Tsukuba
6 times: Spa-Francorchamps
6 times: Brands Hatch GP
5 times: Nurburgring GP

4 times: Lago Maggiore GP
4 times: Dragon Trail Seaside
4 times: Big Willow

3 times: Dragon Trail Gardens
3 times: Catalunya
3 times: Bathurst
2 times: Sardegna Road A
2 times: Lago Maggiore GP II
2 times: Lago Maggiore East
2 times: Goodwood
2 times: Central Outer Loop
2 times: Blue Moon Infield A
2 times: Autopolis Short
2 times: Alsace Village

La Sarthe (no chicane)

Here's the total count with the different layouts and directions of the same track combined into one:
10 times: Autopolis

9 times: Lago Maggiore
9 times: Nurburgring
8 times: Dragon Trail
8 times: Fuji
8 times: Suzuka

3 times: Catalunya
2 times: Goodwood
2 times: Kyoto
2 times: La Sarthe

I didn't bother checking what cars were run as I feel that is kind of secondary, and it's less boring to run the same cars on different tracks than it is to run the same track over and over again.

Clearly PD needs to step up their game in their track selection! There aren't that many tracks that were never run, and many of them are layout versions of the ones that were already run, but they can stand to increase the frequency of the tracks that were only run once or twice. And looking through the data it was clear that the same track would reoccur several times within a few weeks, sometimes even the week after. Autopolis was race A one week and race C the following week for example. That's just shoddy, even if it's a good track or combo.

I remember running the Miyabi short circuit in a Daily Gr.4. Broad Bean in Gr.3(I think that's when the Supra was the META). Reverse Infield A(?), the short Infield layout, in Gr.4.

I feel the cars do matter when making these daily races. We could run the same five tracks every week, but mixing the cars up, makes it interesting.

Nurburing 24H, Dragon Trail(pick any circuit), Kyoto+Miyabi long circuit, Bathurst, TokyoESOL, as examples.
Just switch the cars up. SF19, W08, Group C, Gr.X classic cars(any of them), VGT race cars, N100-1000, GR.4, GR.3, GR.2, One Make Porsche 356, MX-5 TC, Ford vs Ferrari, etc.

The cars PD choose, really do have a lot of bearing on how the races transpire.

I literally had a guy swerve to block me while he was still ghosting from his penalty! ... snip ...

It is such a trash move! I have run into the situation twice with the same driver but in different races (I remembered his PSN as it was so odd)! The first time I thought it was a freak thing, but, by the second time it was clearly on purpose as he did is move *after* mine. As the penalized driver was unghosting, I moved to avoid, and he moved into the path. His goal was to get a push-bump at my cost. It is infuriating as it does feel like it is in the spirit of the game.

I understand if the driver does an advance move to take the defensive line while ghosting. That's fair. The late-swerve push-bump thing is nonsense.

What do you guys think? Am I offbase here?

I'll take it even further - if someone is serving a penalty they should move off the racing line while serving it and only move back onto the racing line when it's clear and safe to do so.

Whelp, my alt account got suspended for 7 days for saying not nice things in post-race chat. Time for an alt-alt-account.
No way. I've never even heard of that.
I have said some really, really bad things in post-race chats. Never had any problems from it.
Does reporting people work, now?
I don't think I've ever reported anyone.

In the words of Sato from The Karate Kid Part 2, "Ha ha. You ask for too much."

I suppose they have to make it look like they are being proactive after this last update. I mean, having your conversations listened to seems more invasive than just being reported. They must want those PS5 first buyers to feel like Sony is trying to keep the gameplay clean.

Serve penalties in the pits or add time on at the end. Solutions which wouldn't create a consecutive incident.

Although I often see people move off the racing line when serving a penalty but if someone doesn't, assign SR Down. Staying on the racing line is a danger to others. Another (of many) thing that could and wasn't explained in the etiquette videos.

I wish I could opt out of SR 99 lobbies, dirtier than SR C.

I got warned once for saying something post race. They are strict on language as it counts as PSN stuff, and easier to prove.

Reporting works that way, but pretty much never for actual driving disasters. Once you are reported you have less leeway and they basically say any interaction after that is good enough for suspension.

I never bothered to report anyone even if they are being a wee fanny, but I suppose some people do and then they get banned. I think reporting works automatically, means that if you reach a certain "threshold" of reports you get banned.

Also, what exactly is a "really, really bad thing"...? I don't like the emphasis

Except your conversations aren't being listened to. They might be being recorded for review IF there is a complaint or report.

I reported someone with a name that was clearly the name of a terrorist organisation, PSN said they suspended & "reached out" guessing they said change your name, ha That was outside of GTsport. I have reported a couple in game but never got a response.
Chat doesn't even allow you to swear.
W anchor is the best I've come up with.
Must have been quite an insult :lol:

I mentioned I hoped someone's PS4 shorted and took their TV with it so I would never have to see them on the game again. But usually outright foul language is what gets you.

It came from PSN not PD, so maybe?

What I actually said was, "This game has made me racist against Brazilians."

Which is a violation of, "Hate speech or other hateful content, including racism, sexism, xenophobia, or hate directed at religious beliefs, cultural identity, gender identity, or sexual orientation."

So basically, I can insult him all I want as long as I keep it strictly personal?

Nah, got to watch the cussing too.

Not proud of it, but I've made suggestions about certain members of a persons family.

You just have to use a space in your cuss words. 👍

It always has. Just not for driving standards.

Sony is not listening to your conversations. The voice chat is recorded locally and used in the event that someone in the voice chat reports it.

This one upset me very much, because for 3 laps I stayed within .5 of this guy, without touching his car a single time. I was driving as carefully as possible. When I got a run on him, to begin the final lap, he did what he did. My only regret is that his car didn't explode when I hit him.

* For what it's worth, I've developed profile on people who did this.

Every time on the straights, he swerved around like an idiot, to avoid giving me a slipstream.
I've noticed that people who do that, are the same ones who put you into the wall, or run you off the track for trying to pass them.
Watch out for them. ;)

Just make sure you don't insult their country because that's going too far.

ok I just gotta know....what was this guy's PSN?

Hezbollah, or a variant of the spelling. Once came across a Hitler fan, was gonna report him too but the race was that intense I forgot, remembered next day but when I looked up recent players he had disappeared

Great. I'll stick with the sister and mother. 👍

Is the pet dog a step too far ?

Yeah, gotta leave the dog out of it.

Best one I saw was a version of "watching you drive makes me think you have a favorite crayon flavor"

I usually race bathurst whenever it comes up but Seaside Group 4 has fond memories, though this was before the FF cars ruined everything.

I rate this the best race I have ever had. There was strategy, a tight field and superb wheel to wheel stuff with no quarter asked or given but ALWAYS space, especially between myself and the orange TT in the latter 2/3rds of the race. My last lap move was intentional and frankly, a bit of a stunner.

Here is how to handle the jerks at Seaside. :mischievous:

Did anyone else pick up on this yet? Settings Adjustable, that means tuning is allowed doesn’t it?

That means that PD has adjusted the settings, like at the recent Autopolis race where they made the Swift so underpowered that it couldn't compete with the Fit Hybrid or Demio.
It leads me to believe that we will have car choices at Goodwood.
Hopefully, it's a choice of 90s Japanese cars, like we had at Tsukuba.

I read the explanation when the story got out. I'm not as concerned as my comment may have let on. I've only had 2 games that I used voice chat on a regular basis. And in both of those, I knew the people in the room, so I've never been worried about being reported.

Chat doesn't even allow you to swear.

Someone a couple of weeks ago spelled out their choice insult by putting a space between each letter. I should have reported the little jerk, but I finished higher than him & he was bitter.

What I actually said was, "This game has made me racist against Brazilians."

Yeah, you can't say you're racist, even as a joke. That just gives them ammunition to use against you.
