I bet no one in that lobby got themselves a one minute penalty for not using the Mediums.

One Mexican driver has got one both times I've come across them, yesterday and then again today. I was stupid enough to go alongside them in the last race, of course the turned left into a right hander just to knock me off the track, which of course got me a penalty, I won't fall for that again. ;)

Think tomorrow I'll set a time on my main account and recover some DR/SR, don't fancy starting 20th again on that account, which is likely to happen at some point if I don't set a time. :D

I tried a few laps in Race A with TCS off... I can see why wide and easy works, but I couldn't get close to my best lap time with TCS at 1. When I set it back to 1 I shaved another .5 second off.

All you crazy people in those Super GT cars.

I like them, but cant manage the solid consistency there to feel competitive. Been getting back to enjoying race B at Alsace though. Finally hitting my rhythm and enjoying it again. Always have enjoyed that track while Suzuka is just a hateful place for me.

No fun videos though, just the Yeetle and me.

First driver is just pathetic, blocks and then acts a 🤬 because they got a penalty for it, avoid them at all costs.

Next two probably don't happen if they knew I was on Softs compared to their Mediums, can't believe that is still not in the game. Of course they got no penalty too. :irked:

From my view, the first incident may be a side effect of the penalty system. We're so groomed by the system that any minor contact is perceived as an attempt to push a car off. His blocking as retaliation was unnecessary. The second incident (the squeeze at the start/finish line) appears to be 2 unskilled drivers who want to keep everybody from passing. The lead car you couldn't go around. But the guy on your left could have easily given you room. And the third incident I saw as an accident. He got 2 tires on the grass & lost traction. It was just bad luck that you were alongside of them. I've had it happen to me & for as mad as you were at the moment, there really wasn't anything else you could have done.

Using GTR '16 my QT is 1,46.875. Hope to see you guys on track:cheers::cheers::cheers:

I still need more practice. My last time at 1:49.430 was good enough for a pole in the B lobbies & that was in the wild NSX. Couldn't get the GT-R out of the 1:51 range.

I’m starting to struggle with the GTR after 5 on softs.

Last time the Gr. 2/Suzuka combo was in, the only choices were hards & mediums. I was struggling with the mediums after 5 laps.

Here's my POV of that streamer invasion of race C last night, everybody else who uploaded had cleaner/faster races but I'm sure mine was the most adventurous (I didn't even edit out the massive crash)!

Looks like I follow some good drivers, now if only I could drive the car with their pace. Seeing that you ran the first lap on mediums & then switched to softs explains that lap 6 move before the Casio triangle.

You could, if you want, check out some of my shared races. I have at least 4 from Suzuka shared in Gr. 3 & my only Gr. 2 win. Not sure which DR rank you are, but that Gr. 2 win came from a low B lobby. Might have pace to outrun them. Search "Suzuka" & "nostopn".

One more edit: Looks like @GOTMAXPOWER is living at Suzuka this week. Here he is appearing with @Tidgney & several of the guys from @kirethk's stream.

Damn, is there anybody in Europe who isn't a streamer?

Did a Race B(no qualy) using my main
Started 9th in a D/S room with C/S on pole. I was the only A/S. Didn't get punted at all. However, a Beetle ahead of me was divebombing, due to being too late on the brakes. Lack of skill, not intentional.

Mov d up a couple places each lap. Last lap, I'm 2nd. Leader 13.5 seconds ahead. Then, I see it's 4.3 seconds. Whoops. Pole sitter is in lawnmower mode, on the right hand side of the track.

I win by 5.5 seconds over P2. Pole sitter finished last, 35 seconds behind.

Since I got a DR reset I tried qualifying on Mediums instead of no qualy, apart from one race that I won with no issues it didn't really work out, here's an onboard of one of them.

It's too much effort and needs aggressive driving and it's all for nothing really, especially in the EMEA, it might work with my US account who knows. :indiff:

From yesterday, the last three laps after I got the start glitch, 8 laps of clean running ruined by the contacts on the last 2 laps meaning a neutral SR rating, harsh.

Yeah no, this combo just isn't doing it for me, I have 0 consistency. I'll probably go and make some videos and try for a Saturday release, since I don't see myself racing any of the other races this week.

Here's this weeks guide folks :D! Make sure you don't start in P20 on Race C!

Love these posts, they really help when you don't know tracks so well. I have always been an offline casual gamer but recently started racing online. These videos (and from others like BasicOllie, SuperGT, Kie, etc...) really help me to understand the braking points and best lines but, more importantly, how to actually race. There are a lot of people on line who are, let's say, elbows out and a fair few who are just plain dirty. I think without content like this, I might have fallen into that category so I am glad I spent some time watching these guys before jumping in. I still make mistakes, of course, but am much more aware of etiquette and will always wait to give a place back and apologise afterwards if I was at fault.

This particular guide has helped me improve my lap time on race B to a low 1:53 and I am now consistently lapping in that bracket and being competitive. On Monday, I was shocking. Mostly 1:56 or 1:57 and way back from everyone. Thanks Tidgney for these awesome guides!

Glad it is the Alt I have taken out on the road today. Alsace is a nutters paradise at the moment. Keep getting divebombed on the sharp left before the bowl turn. And I know to look, but the last one the guy was 0.7 behind.
Maybe possible in some worlds , but not here. And of course he continues on while i get a 3 second penalty. I am driving as clean as I can, and have only in my mind caused 2 collisions, both misjudged with the accordion effect at the corners. Both caused no crashes.

Despite my best evasive efforts I am getting it wrong when the spinning car re-enters the track, or been run off when I had to leave room for the over eager bomber. SR starting to freefall as the rooms get worse. Might have some good video clips though.

Edit: Just got wasted twice by a guy trying the ford GT here. After the obligatory lap 1 penalty they were near me, crashed on the curb while beside me twice. Penalties to me both times. It is at least an unpredictable adventure. Lap 1 penalty was me getting loose on curb and nipping someone as I spun. I earned that one

Man I am out this week, absolutely useless with these combos.

A) Car is HORRIBLE, no way any real car drives like that, it's a mess, both understeer and tail happy, just a complete pig. Joyless.

B) Need a wheel for this track, my ham-fisted X and square and D-pad method gets found out when there are a lot of long corners with wide arcs. In saying that, track is WAY too long, too samey and generally pretty garbage.

C) As above re control method and TBH Suzuka is just too good for me, zero pace here as always.

I'm out.

Have you tried the DualShock 4 controller using the motion sensor for steering (no D-pad)? I thought it would be gimmicky but I was floored by how good it is. The Sony branded ones are about 60-65USD and about half for offbrands.

After being shoved about again and then having a boring race I thought I'd go through some of the race replays and post some funny/bad or otherwise bizarre driving for everyone to laugh at because at this point I doubt anything is going to change with regards to the penalty system. :mischievous:

These go together, some real sensible clean stuff going on here.

I've no idea if there's any bad history or anything in any of clips I'll post and I'm not doing it to target anyone in particular. It's just the incidents I come across or find. Complaining about things in the after race chat is a good way to make me go look for them, I'd probably miss them otherwise as there is too much chaos and non-action to look through. ;)
