I suppose it makes sense that Europeans would focus on the European cars lol. The British youtubers I watch do get on my nerves a bit because they never drive Vipers or Mustangs especially. Then again, I've never raced the Corvette either.
I just wish I could race against Americans with my main account. I'm playing in the evening my time, which is the middle of the day in Australia. Fewer players means that there are rarely less than 3 DR classes on the grid. A good race is full of B/C, but since I'm C I go to the back. I generally gain a couple of spots due to others mistakes so I'm a bit worried that my rating is going to wind up higher than my true pace and be forever at the back end of the pack.
I don't have the spare time to level up and maintain 2 accounts.

That could be due to market. There are really no American cars here. Even Ford's european arm sells a different range of vehicles here. Even something like a Mustang has to be imported. I have only seen one Ford pickup truck and even that felt like a monster truck on our roads.
We may go to a European or Japanese car first as we know them. But then I have seen them in American cars too.

You can via the lobby. Though who you get will be hit or miss unless you join in an event in the leagues section of this website.

Racing at Suzuka in the 86 last night really brought home my aggravation with the throttle mapping on my G29 pedals. For 90% of the lap I'm using the last 1/8th inch (3mm for some) of the throttle travel. Going through the esses you have to lift to stay on line, but for a fast lap you only need to lift about 1/8" or it's too much...not counting the final right in the esses, and the final turn. If that number was 1/2" ( out of maybe 2" total travel) things would be easier.

Yeah the old one way way too touchy. Well, it wasn't, it's just that it was hopeless at assigning blame so if you got pinged it hurt. I was reset 5 times in 110 races and never once intentionally hit anyone. OK once I did. But 5 resets? before that it was once in 300 races so clearly it got twitchy. If it could assign blame properly i have no issue with harsh penalties. I never, ever understood the 3 seconds for being hit from behind, like what?

Right now it is great is the other guy is fair, but last week guys were stuffing it up the inside, using the lead car as a barrier then walking away, they were never going to hold the apex. People figure out ways to scam the system pretty quickly.

Not had the time to post much last week so catching up on everything now. I have only done a few race except for Race C last week. It was fun once I worked out just to leave the idiots to it and just do you own consistent lap times and their mistakes would put them behind in the end.

This week however, so far I have noticed that everyone is pushing the limits now with the relaxed penalties and their quite happy to tap you on the back quarter end to spin you if they can not pass on speed. I don't think I will bother with race B at DTG as 4 corners from home I went from 4th to last because someone knew he could get away with pushing me off and I had watched him for the 2 laps before doing the same without penalty so he knew he could get away with it. Race C may well have been Stock Car racing as I was pure madness, unfortunately after a ending up at the back again for playing fairly once I worked my way back up I didn't give an inch, if you were not along side me and no overlap I was closing the door. This it what the game has come to, the daily races are just like the Lobbies are where they drive to win by any means and it is not enjoyable anymore. The last 2 laps were just crazy and I knew I was on fresher soft tyres as I was last to pit but they just go for moves from so far back now and use you as their brake.

I will carry on playing for now and probably only do race C as the crazy stuff in B will turn me away for the game after playing it for so long. Enjoy the Karts anyone who is doing it as I haven't got the time to practice and it a different skillset driving them.

In Race C I tried the Lancer and it has decent pace until it starts to shred it's front tyres and then you understeer and it's just an open invitation for others to just stick the nose in everywhere so it's unusable. :(

Then I tried the 86, better but still a bit off the Trophy on pace and tyre wear but deserves another go at some point. :)

Then I tried Mustang and even though I was just slowly minding my own business, people did not want to play nice at all, so I'll have to try it again too. Could be ok if I run 5 laps on each set of tyres but obviously still short of Trophy pace. :indiff:

and then

When the 1st one isn't a penalty that's when people will stop playing and from watching the replay I noticed the 2nd one had taken the wrong tyres at the pit stop so that was nice and pointless as they had to pit again anyway.:ouch: There was more aggression later on in this race too, one to forget. :indiff:

:gtplanet::cheers:

The first one is pretty bad to not get a penalty. In defence of the guy, it did look like a genuine mistake and he self penalised.

Oh yes I know that, I think both are accidents, the Mustang has to brake earlier than the Trophy and it's easy to accidently run in to the back of one, I did it once myself yesterday (not as bad as this but still), so I slowed right down to let them back past, that wasn't really enough punishment either, game ignored that one too so I could have got away with it. :banghead:

This is why people don't even try other cars though, much more likely for accidents. Using other cars on my normal account here though, yes forget about it, the EU rooms are far too competitive and there they will intentionally push you when you slow them down, if I even get by any other driver in the first place. :(

The Genesis is stealth. Loving this thing. WRXs
trying to block me, Slophys can't get away, 86s are toast. Evos starting in RS and me on RMs, I was still quicker. Two second places with no qualy. Three wins with qualy. One win from 3rd. Two wins from Pole.

Shhh. Don't tell nobody.

Have tried 3 Race A so far this week. Racing has been OK. My luck has been bad.

Accidentally punted T1 in the last one. Made it back up enough to salvage though. Hope my luck evens out for the rest of the week.

Haven't recognized many in my Daily Races since the update. Grids appear to be less DR mixed. I'm at mid-DR B, I haven't been matched with any DR C or A+ since the update.

I'm definitely with fresh names in my races. I think with the bumping everyone back up in DR, players that used to be lower ranked, are taking bigger risks. Mostly bad race craft(I mean, that's the deciding factor in these races), but some players in the AWD are just taking people out.

Warm up, a WRX waits after at1 and takes me and a few cars out from exit of T1 to entry of T2.
During the same race, same WRX takes me out and proceeds to wreak havoc all the way past the PZ and loses it at the double right-hander, before the underpass.

Next, an Evo in the lead, has an F-TYPE (I'd been battling for a couple races previously) on its tail into T1. On exit, just bangs bangs bangs it off. I caught it and it tried that on me. My car stayed strong and I got past.

Another race, a Slophy kept blocking all race until we pit. I went on lap later. It started on RS.
I exited the pits and it came barreling for me into T1. Just smashed me in the braking zone, but I was pumping the brakes and didn't go off. A couple corners later, I served it waaaayyyy wide at the exit of T5-6. Lead to the finish.

If people would just race, no matter about a win. Just race... it can be an enjoyable combination. Still my favourite real track. Regardless of my podiums.:sly:👍

Had a Spaniard in a Megane who was obviously very quick but constantly shoving people out of the way. He got a penalty lap one. Came back through and shoved me wide at the 2nd hairpin, but then he went wide at the bottom of the hill. He again got through roughly in the first of the double lefts before the first hairpin. I gave him a mini punt at the hairpin to tell him off. He already had 2 seconds and then a further 2 seconds appeared. I couldn't help but laugh. Didn't see him after that until the end. He pitted late and my tyres were struggling on the last lap. I went deep at the 2nd hairpin allowing him past. Probably for the best as I'm sure he would have targeted me. Afterwards I left him a message 'quick but dirty.' Another Spaniard said something to him in Spanish too so I wasn't the only one not happy with him. I doubt he'll learn. I still went from 16th to 9th so was happy with my race. There was plenty of good driving too, shame about the 1 driver. :indiff:

Got 5 races in. DR took a small hiPunted off in 2, finished between 10th and 13th in the other 3 having started in the bottom half of the grid

I did two C races with the Genesis yesterday. A 7th and an 8th, which is good for me. In each race I was punted early on by a WRX so I had pace to finish top 5 if not for that. The Genesis Gr 4 is mysteriously fast. In my qualifying laps it feels slow like I'm just cruising around for fun. Then I look at the lap time and it's within 0.2 of my Megane Trophy time. Nice. Tire wear is very manageable with BB +2 as well.

Gr 4 is starting to feel like Gr 3 lately. Just pick the car you like to drive and go for it. Looks like a lot of cars can be competitive now, not just FF's the way it was for so long.

I never liked Autopolis, and I really struggled with the Gr 1's on this track a few weeks back. The Gr 4 cars are really fun here though, and I think I'm finally starting to get the hang of it. Biggest thing I've learned is that throttle control, and not brakes, is all that is needed for so many of the turns. In some of the turns I quick-tap the brake just to get the Auto Trans to downshift (Genesis great at this too), but that's it.

May give the Genesis a try tomorrow. The throttle thing was a lightbulb moment for me too and the track became much more enjoyable to drive after that. Plus I believe it helps save tyres a little bit too due to not being on the brakes as much, bonus.

My only real issue with race C is just the way folks are driving with punts, barging and generally being bell ends. It's really starting to get on my nerves so I probably should step away for a day or so before I go full meltdown. I started this racing thing to have some fun and in some of these races it really isn't. Folks it's just the dailies the championship isn't on the line and you don't have to try to win the race in every bloody corner, sigh

Race C has been good fun just be prepared to get your elbows out if needed. People are defo carrying rifts from previous races into the next race so it my be an idea to do one then skip one or something.

I’m not really sure why everyone wants to race to the death from lap 1? Is this just a mass release of excitement now the pens are gone? Are people just enjoying a decent combo? Or are people genuinely getting annoyed? Can’t make my mind up.

Some weird strategy going on too. Seems nobody has realised this is a tyre saving race. The majority have been doing 5S/5M or 4M/6S or 6S/4M flat out.

I’ve been running 3M/7S in the Trophy and I’ve bagged a p15-7, p12-p4 and p9-p2. The Softs even when warn are faster than Meds. Keep your nose clean to not enrage anyone, pit lap 3 and then run your Soft laps with 75% braking and don’t push the fronts on the power through the sweepers - you’ll be golden .

Looks like I was delusional. Wasted 2 hours on race A, hoping for some good racing. Other than the couple races I binned, every othe was ruined by some scumbag. Started on pole 3 times, 3 times I'm hit from behind and loose 3-4 spots. Had a good start with BMDrifter on pole, going well in second, giving him space and hoping to get away, last corner, hit from behind and spun sideways, dead last. Maybe the second race ever that I quit. The guy is on the board with a 1:00.3 and I wanted to see if I could hang, but I guess to prove yourself you have to get podiums by knocking other people off the track. I think it was the same guy who knocked me wide in the 2 previous races. He better hope I don't get behind HIM, because I'll return the favor, every time I see him. I did a bunch of 1:00.7's in races tonight, and my best finish was 6th. I'm getting set to start blasting through people like they're doing to me. Got 3 CRB's. Lot of good it's doing me. I guess the one positive is I only lost 1k DR, and somehow 2 SR points.

Won another race from Pole. Players are not being smart at all. TT behind me into T1, the three Slophys behind it, do a pile on and TT gets shuffled back. I went from a .5 second lead, to a 3 second lead, before T2. Checked out from there. 6RM/4RS keeps me away from everyone. The RMs stay consistent until I pit. As the fuel drops, the RS on the Genesis stay manageable.
At the finish, the TT is second and an 86 in third. The Slophys are spread out down the order.

Yeah I've rage quit a few times and it sucks. It's such a good combo and totally spoiled by most games being ruined. Had a few excellent games and some really good battles, but so many more where if we were all in the same physical room I'd be in jail or dead. Now I'm C/S, well obviously S as it's actually hard work to drop that much SR now, with FIA today so I might have to run FIA like 3 times so I'm in B for the points.

Disastrous night last night. 3000 DR lost! Stupidly kept thinking race A might be fun and every time I got punted into Neverland at turn 1 at some point. DFL each time.

Did one race C but I don't know Autopolis at all and I'm a long way off the pace there at the moment. DFL by miles!

Race B is more promising. Can at least get in the mix there. Went from 16th to 10th in my one try.

FIA this evening then some practice laps of Autopolis

I think I haven't missed a day in the last year since we started our first lockdown, that's why I invested in the G29 as I knew I would have the time to make use of it and it was great fun for the most part of the year. Unfortunately I now don't look forward to logging on to race since the penalty system has changed.

Bad and all as it was I learned how to live with it and still be fast, never an issue keeping my SR S except for a few crazy races where I was used as a ping-pong ball and got unfair penalties Now it seems you have to give what you get to survive, this is not the kind of racing I would call racing, knowing on the lap at certain corners its easy to send someone off the track and take their place without a fight. Last week I thought it was just mainly the B race but this weeks combo shows all 3 races are just as bad. How long can you suck it up for without fighting back?

So I ran a few races in the Genises this morning and I can't get a fast lap out of it but I can get a consistent lap out of it a few tenths either way even with tyre wear and assuming no hold ups.

Consistency helps when you generally start at the back, don't fight just let folks past so they don't take you out on the first lap or so. Then flash your lights at them a couple laps once their tyres are shot and they binned it in a corner trying to win on every turn. It does take some patience to not retaliate and that is the hardest part for me racing this way, really really hard at times.

I don't think I will win anything with the Genises but while I am starting in the back of the field I feel am good for a top ten every race.

Oh and to that Italian chap in one of the races if you try to take me out entering the pits and get a 1.5 second penalty for hitting the barrier because I inconveniently ghosted and didn't stop you well that is all on you. Though if you want to keep trying have at it because I was laughing for the rest of the race and in some of these races I really need to laugh.

Way off-peak US account car testing for Race C (was definitely a test drive more than racing) has gone well this morning, rooms are quiet and any dirty driver is usually low ranked and therefore no good at dirty, so they'll ruin their own race soon enough. :mischievous:

The Mustang is still not good enough though, easy to pass cars with but not much else going for it, however it's better than the Cayman (too slow, can't pass slow cars) and way better than the Lancer (good for 1 lap then gets worse every lap). :indiff:

The 86 is good, as I thought it may be. Now I've been able to run laps in it without being bashed around and slowed down I actually set a lap matching my Trophy best, I'd say that proves I should be faster in the Trophy though.

The Genesis and SLS are both decent and not too far off the pace and although the top two have them beat on tyre wear they are not too bad and no issue passing slower cars. Both worth a go if you fancy something different. ;)

Rankings so far are:-

Top Cars

Renault Sport Megane Trophy 2011 (obviously)
McLaren 650S Gr.4 (lovely car and quick, just loses a little on tyre wear)
Toyota 86 Gr.4 (not far behind at all)

Decent cars if you fancy something else

Subaru WRX Gr.4 (hurts the fronts, if you can manage tyres well could go in the top group)
Honda NSX Gr.4 (solid)
Ferrari 458 Italia Gr.4 (solid car)
Jaguar F-Type Gr.4 (true power car, tyres not so good otherwise it'd be a top car)
Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Gr.4 (quicker than I thought it'd be)
Hyundai Genesis Gr.4 (better than it seems)
Citroen GT by Citroen Gr.4 (not bad, feels like it should be better than this too)

Don't bother to use

Lamborghini Huracan Gr.4 (tyres look ok but don't feel it, use only if you are good in it)
Chevrolet Corvette C7 Gr.4 (just missing a touch of pace)
BMW M4 Gr.4
Ford Mustang Gr.4 (only good at overtaking)
Aston Martin Vantage Gr.4 (decent drive, not quick enough)
Nissan GT-R Gr.4
Dodge Viper Gr.4 (just not good enough)
Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport 2016 (so disappointing)
Lexus RC F Gr.4 (too much understeer hurts the tyres, use only if you are good with this)
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition Gr.4 (front tyre eater)
Mazda Atenza Gr.4 (when you can't escape slow dirty drivers you know it has issues)
Alfa Romeo Gr.4 4C (it really doesn't like cars in it's way and if you avoid them it hates you)

Try the RC F. Very decent around here. I always go forward in it. Someone with better tyre management than I could probably extract a little more out of it too.

Will do, I'm not a great tyre manager but it won't be worse than some other cars. I'll run the Atenza just for the  at some point, maybe next. :nervous: Got plenty of cars still to test, won't do them all but avoiding the FFs and Veyron seems wise. :dopey:

Yes the Viper, Atenza, RC F and especially the 4C can all do one, not good enough, so props to anyone overachieving in these cars. 👍

Having little to no penalty system does not work at my level of driving, just did my first race B of the week, it should be an enjoyable affair but I got sideswiped and 'push-passed' more times than I care to remember.

Probably fine to turn it off at A+ but I think lower lobbies than that need something in place.

I rarely moaned about the penalty system previously, the SR downs were the main problem in my eyes.
There's no reward for driving clean so I might as well go out and push-pass everyone
