All GR1. I always run with 919 in Interlagos, I want try Toyota on Interlagos.

R18? is they?
Yes, no one uses the R18 but it is typically only a few tenths down on the 919, if that, by my experience anyway. I think I recall seeing it in the daily top 10 on one occasion...I guess a few tenths is a lot but it is usable.

Given you punted him twice, the 2nd time putting him in to the wall, why did you not wait for him to take the position back?

Instead, you just drove off... not great sportsmanship IMO.

Have you *ever* seen that in a real race? In the many hours of flesh and blood racing I've seen, not once have I seen anyone stop to take a nap after making contact to wait for the person they hit to get back on the track and pass them before trundling off again??? The only times I've seen someone give back position was when they gained an advantage by over shooting and strait lining a corner, and then given the place back.

I have tried waiting for drivers I've unintentionally knocked off. What it gets you is another 5 cars passing while you wait and then some other muppet shunting you while you are no where near the racing line on a strait!

@banckzy are you like this guy then?

I agree with you!!! That rule is applied on many Private Lobbies... (specially on Assetto Corsa) and when applied and understood as a rule, then it must be accomplished... only there!!! But on an ordinary GTS race... it will lead to creating more confusion and an added obstacle on the track ... (ones car stopped and expecting, or then simply reducing speed... to be caught up...) If you do that you risk being rammed seriously... and creating a mayhem for nothing..

In real racing you don't often see the car behind punt someone into a barrier and if they did they'd pick up so much damage they'd retire either on the spot or in the pits. If they somehow didn't get terminal damage they'd be disqualified.

Driving away as if nothing happened is not good sportsmanship at all. Words after a race don't change the final results.

I take it you've never spent much time watching the Bathurst 12h and 6h then?

Done that before. You can't yield in traffic. If I see the person behind me I will give up my place even on the line.

I have and I don't remember seeing a car getting punted into a barrier magically continue at full health so the offender can wait for them!

Your real racing point is pointless because 99.9% of cases you can't wait for the guy you've punted because they are out of the race. Online they can carry on if they haven't rage quit so it's the decent thing to do. Worried about losing extra places letting them back by? Tough.

Yeah, you can get away with A LOT more in a kart with CSA on Strong, but I hate the way it makes it feel so you won't see me running it in a kart :)

Same here, it feels less nimble with CSA. I love to use the throttle to control these little beast. Unfortunately it is very difficult to find open lobbys where drive aids deactivated, like it is difficult to get a decent amount of people in a lobby with disabled aids. Always appreciate guys taking the challenge of not using aids in karting 👍;)

Waiting...

Personally, I think everyone should wait if they’ve punted someone off. This is the approach I’ve taken since on-line racing began with GT5P… and back then, pretty much everyone waited.

Didn’t matter where it happened, or how many places you lost – if you cause an accident, you don’t profit from it. If it’s not safe to stop there, you find the safest place to stop, and you wait until the person you’ve hit re-takes the place.

So what if you lose places, and end up at the back of the pack? Tough ****. You shouldn’t have caused the accident in the first place.

I’ve only raced the fastest drivers since very early in GTS, and hardly ever been outside top 3 in qualifying or race… incidents in those races are infrequent – I do still see people waiting, but it’s mainly people I’ve known and raced for many years (10 years for some!). I also saw it a top 24 race replay I watched a while ago.

But from what I’ve seen of lower class racing, it’s clear it’s more of a free for all here. Shame, but no surprise as the pool is so big it's unlikely you'll race the person you've punted regularly... so people just carry on regardless.

However, I think the very fastest drivers have a responsibility to set the proper example for everyone. 100% of the time. Integrity and sportsmanship should go hand in hand with being fast.

It particularly irks me when I see someone who is clearly fast punt someone who is clearly slower, then just ****-off in to the distance. It’s selfish, and shows a general lack of respect IMO.

If they had run in to the back of someone faster than them (one of the known, and true aliens), most likely they wait – the pool of super fast drivers is small, most of them know each other (if not personally, then by name/reputation), and you don’t want to get a reputation in that group for being unsporting... a video of your behaviour might just pop up on here ;)

Maybe waiting is just too old school for today's generation.

And the 'real life racers don't wait' response is just plain daft.

I just had a quick go in race A.
Is it just me or have PD screwed up big time in modeling the Haldex Quattro system? The thing understeers like an FF under power and gets crazy loose under braking. Oh, and it stops like an oil tanker!

I am just trying the race B today (Gr4) -
I see there is a guy doing 2:10,7 lap times there (in B group) - we have the same cars and got out of the tight left corner up on the hill together before the long straightaway - with the small hill in the middle of it and he went away from me like a Gr 3. car - leaving me 300 behind before braking. How can that be when we can't do anything with the car settings? Just wondering if I have lost something?

So true, are we getting paid real money based on our finishing positions when we do the dailies? No. It's pure racing and our sportsmanship should also be pure. We are a sim racing community regardless of the game, as such should give each other the courtesy every time.

That said, I think the reason beginners do what they do in a race is because they are desperate for any higher placement they can get because they know they aren't the fastest out there but want to prove to everyone else that they are 'someone'. Us fast guys know one bad race doesn't define us, rather our overall performance and sportsmanship 👍

It's the only car I've ever come across with snap understeer. It seems to turn in quite nicely then as soon as you touch the gas it just washes out. Very odd.

Racing line.

Although interesting to read opinions about waiting and giving positions back or no, don't forget that there are drivers and there are gamers here. And endless combinations in between. Different intentions, different behaviour.
If I gained a position with accidentally pushing the opponent wide, or contacted without him/her closing on me, I gave position back, despite of the penalty I received from the system. But, to be honest, I never received back this*, on the contrary I loose positions usually in this circumstances (when I am being pushed or bumped out), so today I am not sure if I will go on with this, as taking the penalty for my mistake (1x), then the penalty for others' mistake (2x) and then penalize myself (3x) is simply too much, compared to those opponents, who (ab)use the penalty system's weaknesses to profit the most time/position with the expense of some penalty, and nowhere near any sportsmanship.
And in a situation like on that video, when someone from behind is bumping and flashing and bumping, I may turn to refuse to make the pass easy, which should happen without the flash and the bumps.

About the flash: I read this is mainly used to cause a distract and force a mistake. Interesting, if I realize the little visual plus of the flash from behind, it is just like some whisper in my ear: "I beg your pardon, I am arrogantly here". If I realize. Nothing more Nothing being distracted by. Maybe a little help to pay attention on keeping the tight lines in entrances.

*I was thinking about it and I can recall that my position was given back once, by someone from here. Kudos to him/her again being the prime.

After some cocking about I think I know what the problem is. They seem to have modeled the Haldex system in reverse. It seems that the TTS is rwd until the haldex coupling sends torque to the front axle, the opposite of how it should be.

Hello all. i am new to GT sprot. can i ask you all for some advice
Just got 1mil credits. what GT2 car would be best to buy. thanks so much

Interlagos gr1 is way more fun when it's many laps.
Started 3rd, got punted out in 1st corner by a guy in 7th I think who took with him pretty much everyone 2-8 lol..
Next corner same story.
Funny enough, even tho I ran the racing line and recommended speed it was still me that got 4s penalty somehow, followed by another 3s in next corner, it's so stupid.. :banghead:
Finished 3rd tho, LM55 is just hilariously easy to drive lol, no wonder it's such fotm car.:D

Dropped 10 Sr points, but that comes with the track I guess. 2 disqualified and everyone red in that lobby

Yeah watch out for divebombers (late brakers) in hairpins. Probably good to buy a gr.3 and gr.4 car first as they are the most occuring races.

The Lexus is easier to drive but the Honda is a bit faster (at least at Suzuka). But it's not as if the Nissan is bad either by all accounts. There isn't a bad choice as such, if you drive them well enough you can go fast in any of them.
