Lots of great races today at La Sarthe and even some good races in Tokyo, mainly to get my SR back up before Nations, so I didn’t qualify and took it easy from the back, sacrificing some DR.

Ended up taking 5th at Nations in an A/S lobby. I should have kept 4th place but on the last lap I realized that when I pitted I filled one less lap than I should have, omg I’m an idiot, so that last lap I spent on fuel map 6 and fortunately only gave up one position. Not terrible, but dang it.

Later I saw a familiar name in a La Sarthe race. @Sven Jurgens didn’t qualify and started somewhere in the back, ended up a spot or two behind me and I think I was 4th or around there, so you must have had a nice race, lots of overtakes. I should have saved the replay.

Another day hanging on to DR.A and SR.99. Good times were had, thanks to those I had clean races with.

Qualifying for Mount Panorama has begun.

Looking forward to Suzuka. Going to try different cars each race.

Hanging on to top 10 asia at le mans and now gr3 bathurst!! I do love some bathurst will try for some wins and then go hotlapping later tonight

I failed the impossible challenge today, sprint racing on Sarthe without qualifying, I'm currently stuck in SR.C hell. Scratch that just dropped to SR.D. Oh, nope wait, last race is in, down to SR.E, DR 3000. (from 26K)

Actually I didn't completely fail, another track to write off my win from last checklist.

It's a bit easier when there are a lot of non qualifiers, although not usually as I constantly got punted in the two chicanes before the actual start line.

Sarthe GR.3 sprint on Saturday definitely takes the crown from Monza for SR killer and dirtiest track car day combo. 2 laps is so few a 1 sec penalty with SR down from somebody running into you is enough for a red rating, as long as they are lower DR than you. Three very dirty races in a row where I simply could not avoid all the dives and punts from behind and I found myself in SR.B with a whole new level of dirty driving to adapt to.

In SR.B on Sarthe today, almost every car I got alongside started ramming me into the wall. It was ridiculous. 4 out of 5 time the penalty system identified the blatant attack correctly, yet still in 20% of the cases it gave me SR Down and a penalty... Unfortunately that's enough to drop further to SR.C and get stuck there. Sure, I managed a couple clean races like the victory above to get back to SR.B, where I promptly got used as a pinball in the chicanes on the long straight. 37 SR to 47 to 54 to 25... 29 points in one race, 3 SR Downs from getting rammed and shoved around. Every race had people dropping to SR.E and sometimes finishing with over 30 sec in penalties.

As DR.B you certainly get lower penalties, yet the SR deductions from lower DR drivers are just as bad. And matchmaking loves putting me together with DR.D drivers.

Instead of qualifying I saved all the starting grids from my races to see if there's any sense to make out of matchmaking.

That's the whole list. I didn't actually race all of them (most of them) I quit out during waiting for other players to collect the data without getting DR or SR loss. I'm the first non qualifying DR.B driver in all of those.

A summary of the groupings:

Still not qualifying, can I make it back up to A/S eventually....

The old alter-ego notched up a win at Willow Springs and second at Blue Moon in the Dodge Challenger. I didn't qualify for either and was surprised to be 4th on the grid at Willows so figured I'd put in some effort. Also got 2 second places in the Tokyo Gr.4 race. Funniest part about the last one, was the duel I was having with the "gentleman" in 2nd place. He'd get ahead of me at the hairpin and then I'd draft past him down the long straight. On the final lap he had enough of a lead coming to the finish line that I'm not sure I could have used the tow to get by. He decided to make sure I didn't and swerved into me to block, ghosted right through me and smacked the wall hard. I was going to message him something like "ha-ha" but he quit pronto.

Some Challenging pics.

What car to use on Bathurst today ? I'm indecisive between GT-R, nsx and mustang...

Well I always run in RCF, M6, Z4, and C7 in Bathurst so my recommend now is RCF :p

:lol::lol::lol:

I had that happen to me the other night at the oval. Someone came flying in from the side trying to use me to stop himself from hitting the wall. I was coasting I think, ghosted, and he slammed the wall *hard*!

Matched with @bmxmitch 2 times in Race B. Side by side at T1 and T2 in both races in a clean and fair manner. Thought of a good battle with him but both were ruined before lap 2. 👎

A 👍 must be given to @bmxmitch as he insisted not to join the Trophy Cup.

I was having nice clean races in A/A. Diverse field of cars(I used the STI, EVO and Atenza). As soon as I get bumped up to A/S, I get thrown in with all the Trophys and a penalty fest.

Had the last race in a GT-R from 5th(finished 3rd, would have been 2nd but got a 5 second dunce cap on the last lap). Beating up on the Trophy's. All they have are the cornering at the esses. Everywhere else, grunt and a lower down force on the straights, bring them right back to me.

Now, I'm bumped down to A/B. I see the difference in what cars players choose. Nothing like the 11 Trophys in one of my earlier races.

How on earth did you fall to Sr E?

as I didn't have lots of time to play in the lsat week or so, today I finally decided to give it a try and did a few nice races on Suzuka, but the little taps still resulted in minor penalties, really hope to have this fixed...

Thanks for the great racing man! Always enough room and respect in both races. If there wouldn't have been this one guy who pulled into me and some others we could've raced to the end. Oh, and my spin-off of course

But I could keep up with the Citroen easily. The Viper in the second race, not so much. Lost nearly a second to you every lap. But at least it looked nice, one green Dodge between all those french hatchbacks :p

Not really inspired tonight, so I'll just do Race C tonight. I did some time trials with the 911, the Viper and the WRX. I did 6 laps with the 911, and beat that time with the 1st lap with the Viper. Beat the Viper time with the WRX, but I found the back end was just a smidge more loose that I'm happy with, and that will only get worse with tyre wear. The Porsche handles the section from Skyline to Conrod more easily, but the Viper seemed ok and I know I get good fuel economy and tyre wear with the Viper. Guess Ill find out on the Midnight run :D.

Your apple green dodge was so sharp on my mirror. I did thought of a close race with you in 2nd race given that your pace in 1st race. Good race next time.:gtpflag:

How on earth did you fall to Sr E?

By simply racing without qualifying as I have bee doing for the past 2 or 3 weeks. It's only 2 laps, very few SR to gain which meant getting dive bombed and getting a penalty for getting clipped by the diver once was already enough for a red rating. Do enough races and you get matched with worse and worse drivers while still getting the same SR deductions and those drivers are lower DR than me.

Behavior on Sarthe was atrocious yesterday. During the early evening the attacks were so blatant, people were lining up the ram shots, move left then a hard right for an extra hard punch into the wall on the straight. Climbing up from the back meant I would run into at least 2 of these drivers on the way that had no shame to leave the room at SR.E and a huge time penalty. I was finishing 5th on average so plenty opportunities on the way to meet dirty drivers. Unfortunately any contact counts against my SR as well.

It seemed to get a bit better later at night and I was back up to SR.B after being stuck in SR.C for a long time. Yet the last couple of races of the night were terrible again and I went from B to C to D to finally E. You simply cannot pass on Sarthe without exposing yourself to dirty drivers' tactics. The penalty system getting it right 4 out of 5 times is too low of a success rate not to go down over time, or even in a single race as I got hit over 5 times a race on average.

Not sure what to make of that, Is this a racing game that actively discourages racing? Do not get near people!

Amyay I'm curious to see what SR.E looks like on Mount Panorama, can't go down much further anyway!

And its another sunny midnight here in sunny Australia. Welcome race fans, for all the drama of Mount Panorama! (Actually I had a much kewler opening in mind bearing a remarkable resemblance to a slightly changed version of a Midnight Oil song... but I didn't win ). Qualified P10/19 which changed to P9/18. There were 8 of us DR/Ds, the rest Bs and Cs.

The flag dropped. The sounds of a thousand twist tops could be heard ringing out across the mountain over the din of internal combustion engines and we were away! I had a better start than the guy in front and made a b line for the inside so no one could push me off in T1. Then the panic sets in when you realise that you were paying too much attention to getting that "oh crap I'm sick of getting crow barred at T1" start that you totally miss your braking point and end up in the sand anyway :banghead:. I'm not sure how many places I lost with that blunder, but I *think* I started the attempt to my climb of glory in P15 up Mountain Strait. That's when I discovered that I had to be *really* patient because most of the guys who started behind me on the grid were even slower than I am at race pace .

I managed to pick my way through the field and pitted P9 I think. Came out P11. There was a 15s gap behind me and a 5s gap in front. Every time we went across the top of the mountain the gap behind grew and the gap in front shrunk :dopey:. As for the rest of the track things stayed pretty well much the same. I caught up to the guy in front with a lap to go and I think he must have taken evasive action to not hit a wall across the top and ghosted. I kept my foot firmly planted in the shag of the foot well and blew through him like a wraith looking for a good time :sly:. Kept my 🤬 together and finished P10.

DR up from yesterday by a bit, SR back up to 99 <bouncybounce!>. Another day above DR 1 :D.

Idk man...If you're falling to Sr E, some of those incidents have to be your fault.

Idk man...If you're falling to Sr E, some of those incidents have to be your fault.

I experienced this yesterday also, with my Sr taking a pummelling down the ranks from dirty drivers using me as a brake pedal, having them push me off track when pulling alongside etc.

Believe me, your luck can really be this bad. Problem is that you always want to have a clean run. And you say to yourself; "My next race will be better".

Then //bump//. They get you again.

Today i've had better luck. Went back up to B from yesterdays bad luck into the Sr.D pool. A place that we never ever want to be.

So when @Sven Jurgens says this:

I fully sympathise 👍

I'll say sorry right now because nothing good will ever come out of my mouth with the US region based from my experiences in it, but I think that is not necessarily the case. Even in SR S midfield is hell over there, so I can't begin to image how much dirtier it will be below that SR rank. The moment he went down to SR A, he'll need to qualify to get back some of his SR back, or it will be a positive feedback loop that will never end until he has no more SR to spare

It's true. Just check my recent stats. Sometimes I go awhile without having any issues, SR.99 for days or weeks on end. Then, BAM, the bad luck and terrible drivers smack me in the face like a ton of bricks. It's like a snowball effect. You have a bad race or two, and sure maybe some of those incidents are your fault, but not all of them, certainly not so many to warrant what is sometimes dealt out. Then you say "just one more, to get my SR back up" and it happens all over again. The lower you go, the higher you probably qualify, but the bigger the target becomes on your back and the less sportsman-shippy the drivers become. Then one day, things turn around, SR goes back up, you start winning races again, and what happened is in the past. Move on.

So perhaps this is just me or common knowledge but I just did a race on Race C (Mount Panorama) and I qualified 3rd and tried the gamble of no tire change and ended up finishing 9th.

Unless you are an exceptionally good driver on tire management I presume changing tires will always give a better outcome with the tire model we have in game?

Second race I got disconnected so that was helpful but at least the race was on loading in so does that harm DR/SR at all?

Sarthe was pretty bad for me yesterday. I was getting hit from behind quite a lot. Only got a penalty for slightly going off track.

Unless you are an exceptionally good driver on tire management I presume changing tires will always give a better outcome with the tire model we have in game?
Pretty much. Sometimes tire changes are mandatory however, even if you're faster than the rest of the field. As a rough approximate on whether or not no tire change is a good strategy, 2-3 seconds off the pace before you pit is bad, 1-2 seconds off the pace is possible

First off, my statement was not not an attack on @Sven Jurgens ar all. I like them very much and they are in my friends list.

I have also flopped down to lower Sr levels before. I was just stating that it is unlikely to get so far down without having control of the situation. I've flopped down there myself, but I was able to recover by becoming hyperaware of my surroundings. You need to give those guys room or sometimes let them by. As daan told me, you can't race those guys. Just have to sacrifice dr to get out of that hell.

You cannot race below Sr B. You simply have to pull over and give ludicrous amounts of room. Any attempt to race them as you would an S driver will result in a crash. I learned that the hard way.

I failed the impossible challenge today, sprint racing on Sarthe without qualifying, I'm currently stuck in SR.C hell. Scratch that just dropped to SR.D. Oh, nope wait, last race is in, down to SR.E, DR 3000. (from 26K)

You sir are either crazy or a glutton for punishment, not sure which lol. I fell into that SR black hole once which led to a reset and vowed never to return. Just a few days ago I dropped to SRB and I stopped racing. Once I found a race I was comfortable with, I set a fast Q time (which netted me a few poles btw) and gained my SR back so I could enjoy racing again instead of being used as a pinball machine.

I wanted to race Sarthe last night, but after working a double I just was just too tired. Maybe it's a good thing I didn't. Although I don't usually race until after midnight when most of the crash kiddies are in bed due to my job schedule. And I also put time into qualifying so I don't screw up in races and start ahead of your 'racing' companions. Notice I use that term loosely as most of them think they are playing bumper cars. I guess with as much as you race you have to create challenges for yourself to keep from getting bored. Good luck on your journey back, shouldn't take you long.
