I'm less likely to agree with you,in most things, after waiting, loading the race, get me out of the server, after 4 times ignition and shutdown ps4,I give up,it ****ing nerve, and for a few days in succession,he thinks sony can get rid of that

This happened to me last night and I got a 4 second penalty.

It's kinda random. It's usually the car that doesn't go off road that gets the penalty. Here we both take a short cut, yet perhaps since I went off road more / longer / last ? I don't know. Sometimes you get lucky, more often you get screwed.

Weekend on Race A for me has been very clean. Much cleaner than during the week. The opposite of what I experienced before the region split.

You can tell at the start. A good race has a clean mostly sequential grid start. A bad race has too many cars fighting through the first 2 turns blocking everything behind and activating the ghosting.

I wonder how much of this is from people trying to turning the TCS down while navigating through those first turns? I wish you could program a button to turn on/off TCS just for starts.

I'm sad to see this week end. I have been having a blast with Race C. Mind you I have not won any races but I am now about 3000 points away from my A driver rating. That has been the goal for me.

I also learned a valuable lesson. Normally when I get passed on the track, I would fight to get those positions back. I now just let it be and drive within myself. As long as I finish in the top ten, things have been great points-wise. The wins will come. Looking forward to more GR.1 races in the future.

Keith.

I tried a few more races on A last night, it doesn’t even seem like it’s worth playing right now, 2 wins for a total of 36 and 39 points gained each, 2 seconds for a loss of over 100 points each and a 3rd for an even bigger loss. SR went from 61 to 48 thanks to some jack@$$ who decided he wanted to bump the only A driver in the race at ever corner to make himself feel better, he hit me so many times that the guy who won the race ended up winning by 5 seconds, and his QT was almost a full second slower than mine. It’s awful hard to catch anyone when you’re getting rammed at ever corner by the guy who thinks that’s how you race. It sucks that other people can not only ruin your race, but your ratings that you’ve worked so hard to achieve. What a brutal week of racing.
I probably did about 30 A races, this week. Since my SR took at beating at RBR last week, I started this week at a D SR. I bounced between about 20 and 60 SR over the span of my A races. Because it's a really short track with close racing, I got a ton of SR downs because of getting bumped from the back. The only times I managed to gain SR was when I started up front and ran away from everybody. It's your only chance for a clean race, there.

That's the way to be man, good on you.

Too many people drive so desperately, and it just causes problems. When somebody is driving aggressively behind me and I can't ditch them, I usually just let them pass at a convenient time and watch them fall apart in front of me. If I can't catch them again, so be it, they had the pace and deserve the spot, but don't ruin everyone's race just because you NEED to gain that one position. Fight, but fight fair and know when it's not your time to win. This is a game and these are not real cars or real money we're playing with. You're right, the wins will come. I've raced this way for awhile and I'd say overall I have a conservative driving style in races...and I still win semi-regularly, plenty of podiums etc....life is good.

It's been strangely compelling - the key has been getting through turn 1 on lap 1 OK. If I've managed that without getting a penalty from being rammed from behind, I've usually managed to move forward, and have managed a couple of wins (driving the 908).

DR has dropped very slightly, and SR has been down to B and back up to S!

I’m sure my game is bugged. I’m running clean races and every time my SR is dropping points. I’ve got from S to B.

Ha! Finally a podium!
So excited to get a 2nd in race b. Started fourth. Ran down a 911 on the straight, but the leader had spun off to the inside going up the hill, so I’m in second lap 3.
The leader kinda Nascard the poor 911 in the slow stuff and ran a 32.8 trying to chase me.
I ran clean defensive and held him off for 2 laps, he would have had overlap going into braking on t1 but race was over and he was on outside.
I ran 40.1 34.1 33.7 33.7 34.1
Clean race bonus, but he said “you dirty” and left the room. Lol. He tried to do the little dirty a plus tricks but I had none of it. I just drove a no mistake defense the last lap. Feels good. End of lap 4 we both got a good exit on the last turn up the hill and he was into my slipstream. I shifted inside a bit giving him the outside well he shifted more inside so I kept inside. Does he really think I am going to just move outside there? I showed my hand early on 5he straight by moving inside. There’s no way I will just give a spot for no reason first turn of final lap.
He whipped outside and then tried a little bump pass in the right hander, but I held my ground and inside on the left and held him off.
He slid a bit exiting one slow corner and that gave me enough gap to avoid being punted!
That’s my last one on Interlagos...First podium ever there...Great race to end the week.

The clean race bonus itself doesn't care about contact with other cars, you can hit loads and still get it if you stick to the track and do not hit any walls. However hitting other cars will make you lose SR, as will driving off track but the worse is quitting or dc'ing from the race, that loses you the most SR.

I think I cut more of the corner off than you. Then again I think I got a heavier contact than you too.

I've only played C at all this week but I've had a good time in it. What cars have you used in that race? I tried the R92CP once cause it had swept the qualifying leaderboards but I wasn't that good with it. Mostly I've used the LM55 (which is one of my go to Group 1s in general) but I did win with the 908 last night.

I used the R92CP for a couple of races, but it would get away from me once the tires got worn. I mainly used the LM55 and the Hyundai.

It depends on what the other car does. If they for example already cut the corner before hitting you it's more likely you get the penalty. The strength of impact is what determines the number of seconds you get. However with multiple cars involved it's very unpredictable. I accidentally dive bombed 3 cars earlier in the week in that chicane. Crashed two of them while I somehow shot through the chicane unscathed, penalty free.

The whole penalty system is pretty ridiculous. Last race I got an instant 2.5 sec penalty for slightly missing the turn in at Ascari which only lost me time. Yet when I get bumped off the track into the sand the other car sometimes only gets a 1 second penalty if a penalty at all. It's better to hit cars than to avoid and risking a shortcut penalty. It's best to short cut then hit so they get the penalty! PD logic.

Racing on Monza is going surprisingly well for a Sunday. In the afternoon there were 5 A+ drivers on battling it out. There was still the occasional DR.C in the room yet more A's and B's than I've seen all week and all SR.S. I had no trouble today to maintain 99 SR and had plenty clean close battles and side by sides with no issues. There were still some bad apples yet for Monza in the vastly different GR.1 cars, I'm impressed! Unfortunately I've currently been Fortnited, my kids are playing. It has planes now that can fly through buildings

I'm not sure if there's a faster qualifying car than the Nissan R92CP, but there are several cars with a good race pace when you take tire wear and fuel into consideration.

My favorite has been the Peugeot 908. Top speed is pretty good but slower than the Nissan and the Hyundai. Corners WAY better than the Nissan and significantly better than the Hyundai. Fuel is great, only need a tiny splash at pit stop even if you don't conserve. Tire wear isn't as bad as the Nissan Group C, but not as good as the two cars listed below. This car is much easier to handle after a few laps than the Nissan is.

Hyundai VGT has got great top speed, just a little slower than the Nissan. Corners well, but not as good as the 908. The Hyundai's strong point is tire wear, the softs wear like mediums do on other cars. Weak point is fuel, I had 3.5 laps left instead of 5.5 at the pit stop. Big difference. Losing several seconds in the pits because of that.

Mazda LM55, slightly lower top speed than the 908, corners a little better than the Hyundai but not as well as the 908 and tire wear is pretty good. I don't remember about fuel though, but I feel that the 908 is superior to this car in every way except for tire wear.

If you're not in the top lobbies then any of these cars can be competitive, but I think if you have guys with qualy times in the low 1:22's or under in your race, go with the Nissan or the Peugeot to stay competitive.

... On the plus side, I did manage to drop my Q to a 1:33.14 and get another pole! I have to say I was dissapointed, though...heading towards start/finish I thought I might have my first 32. Still getting my best laps from the Mazda out of the cars I have. Got the gr3 Ford gt(LM?) and tried it. Handfull of laps and the best I could do was a low (ish) 34, though it feels fast. Easy to drive without TC though. The Mazda likes to break loose when the turbo kicks.
I am in Oceana now ... but we are about the same speed - although I think you'll be much faster soon. But the Mazda was easy in qualifying for me - very consistent times - but not fast in the race for me ... the Ford Mustang was dead easy to drive though and in both qualifying and the race, and I ended up using that for the last day. I had to try it because people were beating me up in their Mustangs. With the Mustang - no problems, fun again. With it I was able to claw some SR back as it got away on the straights and hence avoided end of straight traumas. Interlagos can be fun if you exit onto the main straight 0.50 seconds in front of the car behind and stretch the time to 0.9 just sitting there on the straight.

Never really driven the Hyundai much. The LM55 is an excellent all around car though. Easy enough on the tires, easy to control and the top end speed is quite good. And the 8 speed gearbox is nicely spaced. But it does have some understeer. For fuel I think I had around 4 laps worth after 6 laps. So a bit better than the Hyundai but not by much. I think the 908 is marginally slower than the LM55 for top end speed but not by much. I would agree that tire wear is the only major disadvantage of the 908 over the LM55. And with the diesel engine the 908 is pretty fuel efficient. Starting on pole I managed to make it to the end without refueling. I tried the R92CP a couple times and it's too hard on the tires.

I am the chosen one! Mighty hand of justice sent to strike the unroadworthy! I'm a fuel injected suicide machine!!!! Oh yeh, I'm lovin Oceania! Check it out

Oh yeh, I totally shredded them! I can go to bed content in the knowledge that I like, totally dominated the week ......:banghead:

SR unchanged, DR down 70. Another day above... oh what's the freakin point, this is shyte .

Invisigoth - OK the fields can be bad for where your at right now I suppose. I would have raced against you by the way - PS4 name is blitztoo. A "B" driver. What car were you driving?

Yes I’m not touching anyone yet keep dropping.

Well, I'd say the Hyundai is about as good as the 908 in corners and it has a slight advantage in the big straight. The thing that helps the 908 is the fuel economy.

I tried the Mustang earlier for a couple of laps. Did a low 34 right off, so Ill do some laps and see how it goes. Seemed to have some trouble getting it stopped, but I'm used to the Mazda. Tough to pass in the Mazda, though. Even with a better drive I can' t get around most cars on the straight. Did get P7 in a C race. My first top 10 there in the hybrid. Need to do some more challenges and win some more cars. Probably run C some more and try to get my Sr back up. Once through the first chicane things open up and I can usually avoid the carnage, though once I made it through but the carnage behind got me. A flying orange barrier took me out leaving the chicane. Maybe they should ghost them too!

deathcabdaniel here. Good to see you on the forums. You are absolutely right. The only saving grace for the 908 is not having to refuel. If you can stay within 1.5 seconds if the leader it’s usually a solid win.

There was no "blitztoo" on the grid. Looking at the screen shots of all the races I started in since the change, you don't apear on any of them. Sorry :dopey:. I was using the 911 blackbird for what it's worth... as noted in the pics posted :p.

Maybe YOU can make the Hyundai handle just as well through corners as the 908, but I certainly can't. It's AWD, and the 908 is MR, so I think by default the 908 should corner better...but I have always sucked with AWD cars. Honestly, I hate them. It was a shame you got disconnected yesterday (or maybe it was Friday?) when I saw you joining the race, I was hoping to have another good battle. Next time!

Hey man, nice to meet you on track last night and see you here. You're one fast MF! Thanks for being clean and respectable. I tried to hold you off as long as possible but when I could no longer I just gave you the space you needed and you were gone. We had a nice clean and close battle for a minute though. Not everyone is so patient, you've definitely earned my respect. See you again!

Ugh I spoke too soon. I just did the 6::30 pm race, what a disaster. Already in T1 a Mazda bounces off me while I'm steady on the inside, 5 sec penalty. Then the Chicane, big mess, can't avoid tapping a car, +2 sec. Lap 2 I'm side by side with another car through the two right handers after the chicane. I'm on the inside, we're both holding our line. Knucklehead behind punts me wide into the car on the outside who goes off, +4 sec for me.

I did manage to escape the backfield and finish 6th after serving my 11 sec of penalties. However not until after a couple more bumps from behind and a drop to 69 SR, -30 SR in one race. Sunday is back, and it's brutal. The people that hit me were all red too, one dropped to B. What a joke.

This might take a while, +8 in the next race, only +1 in the one after. Driving with the SR Bump crowd.

Sven thanks for the heads up. I was going to race 1 more tonight, but I think I'll hold what I have. Know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em.

Keith.

With the Playstation Now free trial I downloaded Project Cars, Assetto Corsa and F1 2016. I think I'll mess around with those for a bit. :)
