I had a nightmare, just 2 race ‘c’

1st, bad qualy started me 15th, then on the 2nd lap I had to pull over and put my little boys dummy back in (another room) Decided to turn it into a 0 stopper, actually got in front of 3 people! But got passed easily

2nd, improved qualy and started 5th. 1st hairpins got hit hard from behind and was given 8 second penalty. Had a good racefor 4th but he was faster so let him go and tried to follow, final hairpin became an unintentional failed pass

Finished 5th, both red sr and now down to A sr

Ugh, 2 clean races on B increasing DR in both races then had to push the envelope and go for a 3rd. Started P2, a bit of muppet driving by myself and finish P7. Lose my hard earned DR. So frustrating. That’s racing I guess

Wow, what a difference a day makes! From my post 24 hrs ago, there were drivers with 20+ sec penalties etc. Tonight, I just completed 2 race C and it seemed that people have learnt the track more. There's still some carnage. esp on the first lap, and matchmaking is still a bit funky in the Aus/NZ region. First race, started 2nd in my Merc AMG and finished 2nd behind a VW GTI. I could match it in the corners, but the GTI is too quick in a straight line.

Second race, started third in the Supra behind the same GTI and a Lexus. The Lexus overshot the first hairpin badly, so I was free to hunt down the GTI. I was able to catch it but couldn't pass it as it was too risky. The good thing about the Supra is the short-shifting fuel saving and good straight-line speed. Both the GTI and I pitted on "lap 3.5", and the GTI had 36 fuel, but I had 50! Turned a 0.5 deficit into a 2.5 sec lead and kept it steady till the end and managed to better my overall race time from yesterday (in the McLaren) by over 20 secs.

I don't know what other regions are like, but the VW GTI is quite popular, so it was nice to beat it in a different car. The Supra is decent in race conditions so give it a try if you want to do something different!

Overall, a 2nd and a 1st for an increase of 284 DR points.

The Ford Spec II and VW GTI are popular in NA as well. I just tried the GTI to see if I would be faster in it than the Lexus. Not really, and it uses a whole lot more fuel. Plus this happened just before the post race countdown was done:

Worst time to get disconnected as that counts as a loss, Nearly 2K DR lost for that since there were a lot of DR.D to fill up the room.
I actually finished 4th, pos 2 to 4 have negative gap time...

Fairing a bit better today, spent a bit of time last night getting my quali time down for race C to a 156:393, starting up the front helps a lot if you don't get collected from behind. Radar on is a must in all braking point, I was using the VW and had a few battles with the Fords, they are faster on the straights not so much through the corners, so you needed to watch for their earlier braking points, managed to gain 15 SR so far today and even managed a win!! Back up to SR B and just outside of DR B again now.
Edit: Seems my times not so good in SR B am only 7th on the grid now, wish me luck.
Wow proper dirty race, nobody had anything other than Red at the finish, lost all the SR from the previous races and finished 10th.
What are people using other than the VW? FT-1, Supra, Bettle or just something your comfortable with?
Noticed a Jag in the last race so going to dust mine off and take it for a spin.

Anyone else getting ridiculous numbers of disconnects? 3 races in a row now I haven't been able to start because I get booted out before it even starts.

Suzuka is being a b****. I qualified with a 2:13.5 but haven't been able to even do 14's consistantly in the race. I'm driving the Italia since I'm faster in it than the Jag or the Hyundai and those are the only 3 GR 4's I have so far. The first race I did was my best. Second one I started 5th and was running with the front guys when I got really sideways coming out of Spoon, lost a couple spots, got rear ended going into the kink after the esses and was punted into the dirt...race over. Finished 12th of 14. Still SR-S at least. Anybody else try the Ferarri 458? If so, how does it stack up? I think I'm sliding around too much. Maybe I'll slow down, watch my lines and find some of the 2+ seconds I'm missing.

Try the TT, it understeers but is capable of quick laps around Suzuka though. I’ll post a lap later today for reference. :)

Happened to me 3 times in race A last night. Very frustrating!

4c gr4 is the meta car at suzuka.
Just dropped 2 tenths down to a 2.07.584 but with a mistake. Theres a 2.07.4xx in there if i do some laps later on.

I’ll have to try that one tonight then, that smokes my 2:10.2xx lol, thanks for the tip. What does META stand for though? I mean I know it means best car for the track but what is META an abbreviation for? I’ve always been curious about that lol. :)

Most Effective Tool Available.

Ah, Tool!! Lol. I was thinking Most Efficient T(blank) Available, I couldn’t figure out the T, turns out I had the E wrong too lol, thanks. :)

I have never seen that description outside this forum. Metagaming has been around a while and is best described as:

"Metagaming is any strategy, action or method used in a game which transcends a prescribed ruleset, uses external factors to affect the game, or goes beyond the supposed limits or environment set by the game. ... In simple terms, it is the use of out-of-game information or resources to affect one's in-game decisions"

I've been running the Ferrari since I best my best possible 4C time by about 1.5s (I don't know what it is I'm not getting about that car), and I find it to be quick enough to keep up with the TTs and stable enough to keep consistent around this lovely track.

If you're having trouble with the back end, try running Front brake balance 1 or 2, and when it gets a slide on just tickle the throttle to help straighten up (especially useful on the hairpin)

My lap from before, 2.07.584.
Slower first sector than i would like by about a tenth and then slightly deep into the hairpin cost me some time. Hopefully drop into the 07.4's later in the week.

Damm, I think you just shaved at least a half second or more off my next lap, thanks very much for the video!! I’ve been dropping down to 3rd for T3 and riding it through the rhythm section until the uphill left, now I know I can stay 4th through there(mine lines through there were slightly off yours as well), I’ve also been touching the brake and downshifting once going into that next quick right, now I know I can stay throttled down there, also the double lefty after the hairpin and the two rights, you go through there much faster, you’re on the gas between left hand turns while I’m trail braking the entire way through there. Tonight should be fun, thanks again for the reference lap!! Very nicely done Sor! :D

Thanks for the post! I'll be crashing some tonight trying to sort out some things and get up to speed. Have you driven the Ferarri? And if so, is there a significant difference in how you attack the course? First thing I noticed is that I lift a lot more than you to get my line to tighten, and I brake is spots where you only lift a bit. I'm sure I'll end up off track a few times, but if I can make it stick once, I can do it again. Lucky I don't have to pay for damages. You're light years faster than me now, but hopefully by the end of the week I can get below 2:10, now that I see what's possible.

No problem
Sometimes if your slightly tight entering t5 you can drop down to third.
The whole sequence is right on the edge of third or fourth gear really.
Happy lap time hunting :)

You may be faster than me, but I got the same things from that vid. Hopefully we can both put it to good use.

No i havent tried the ferrari yet, i would have to spend some time adjusting and then adjusting back to the alfa, but there would be subtle differences between cars for sure. I would reccomend trying the alfa tbh.

Im sure you will get it man, just gotta keep churning the laps out :)

Maybe...I really wanted to avoid buying cars I might win in challenges. Had a good run of GR.3 cars, but lately just been getting garbage on the challenges and daily's. we'll see how the Ferarri works with the new info.

That's an awesome time, I always struggle to get under 2:10.
The use of CSA makes me somewhat disappointed though.

Yes and no doubt the fastest guys in the TT will be using ASM as that makes that car faster. It's about time these two aids were banned from the "dailies", as they are for the FIA stuff.

Not that I'm suggesting anyone capable of getting on the leaderboards now wouldn't be capable of doing so without these aids because that would be total rubbish. ;)
