Not a good night of racing. Switched to the 4c in race B...definitely can lap faster in the Alfa than the Ferarri, but am less consistant.(so far). My SR is doing okay at 92, but my DR kept taking hits, just like me. I feel like the poster boy for the saying "Nice guys finish last".

That was me. I got caught up in other people's wrecks and lost some time on the first stint. Managed to close the gap with a short stop (51% fuel remaining) and caught your tow but had to get rid of the penalties.

I'm not sure I would have been able to pass you though, that Nissan's got impressive braking power and straight line speed!

Edit: I'm going to do a 1.17.00:000 qualifying lap so that I start ahead of you next time :D

Nice to meet you. You are fast in the Lexus. I started with the Lexus this week and could hardly get it under 1:58. The Nissan suits me better although it uses a bit more fuel. Good luck on that qualifying time, see if you can beat my 43 minutes in penalties!

I just did the 7:30 am race, the real fast ones are up. I made it to 5th from 16th, not bad, yet still 25 sec behind the leader. 1;55.2 was the best lap, can't touch that. The Volkswagen GTI's and SLS AMGs were battling it out at the top.

For a laugh try the Ferrari. I did pretty good with that on the outer loop, too much sliding on this track. Plenty fun to drift through corners yet my lap times barely made it under 2 minutes.

Got my qualifying down to 1:57.2 in the BMW (also did a 57.1 but it went to matching too soon and it didn't register). Got booted out the race within half a lap after not touching anyone. Can't wait for this thing to turn up in an FIA race with harsher track limits and penalties.

(DRB /SRS)

I finally had time to squeeze a race on Tsukuba yesterday. The SR spread was way too wide starting me in 8th place between a bunch of As and Bs. As expected they dive bombed me on every hairpin and pushed me wide off of the course without receiving any penalties. I had to secure my position back by reciprocating the offense on the offender to take back 8th place on Lap 5, ironically finishing with a clean race bonus. The current penalty system is a mess and totally ruins side by side racing when it incentivizes the inside driver to push the outside driver off of the track on their exit line. Oh well.

I've got to give it to you @Sven Jurgens. It's not easy to do what you do. I've been doing no-quali races at Suzuka, this morning. It sure does take a lot of discipline to stay clean when you're being blocked by a guy who doesn't realize they should let someone pass who's been .3 behind them for the last lap and a half.

Stevie Wonder could tell who the faster car is.

You must have a ton of patience.

Glitch on Race B this morning. It was pretty funny. Cars line up, start to move forward, into a wall, then reverse, repeat for 4 minutes, then the race starts. Only 3 cars left by that point.

I get lucky and pointed straight when the race starts. I could have got away clean. But what do I do? I accidentally drive into the first fake out road before the chicane, doh.

Finished 2nd. Car in front of me got a penalty on the very last turn. Podium finish for every one.

Not directly daily race related, but...

..,My favourite national racing series (VLN, roughly „Organizing Alliance Endurance Racing Nürburgring“, a bi-weekly G4 and G3 race on the Nordschleife) posted a video today about the KTM X-Bow G4‘s season highlights of 2018.

Man it would be so nice to have this as a Daily C!

There‘s also an onboard lap on YT using the VLN track configuration. All these noises - fantastic!

Mayhem.. I did not plan to enter any races this week, i am not very fast with the GR4 cars on Suzuka.. and Tokyo is not an option either...
Against my judgement i did a Race B, it was actually pretty nice, my tactic is as usual, finish, do not crash, make up places based on others error..
After the first 2 laps a 10th place felt like a solid position, gained 4 spots, the guy behind was a cool dude that was faster than me, but did not seem to have the needed momentum to pass, and he was just waiting for his chance and most importantly, he raced with respect. The car in 9th spot was doing ok, i was not able to gain that much, but on the last lap he was starting to crumple and made 2 mistakes, the first mistake was not big enough for me to pass, without being an ass. The second one, he lost speed and i passed, but then we entered 130R, and he just knocked me of the track and caused a trainwreck of sorrow and broken dreams.. sigh

For some reason the game did not punish me, i of course did nothing out of bad will, but i did knock another car off plus cut the track..

I've been having a blast in the Daily B weekly. I'm pretty weak at Suzuka so this week is a good chance to practice and it's been really fun. The track makes for great racing and lots of interesting overtaking spots. In Gr4 I find it a lot of fun to run the Megane even though it's not my best lap time car.

Side note :: is Turismo__kid part of the Turismo racing team or is it just a coincidence? I see him often and his quali is good but he's frequently off circuit and even intentionally bombed me going into the final hairpin on one occasion.

Wow the speed!
He's like rolling thru sharpest turns at 150..

Hmm, did penalties become more sensitive again?

The car behind me gives me the slightest bump at the apex then slightly scrapes the wall at corner exit. 4 sec for me, SR Down, red S. Just for that...

The game interpreted him hitting the wall after hitting you as your fault, as in you'd have pushed him into the wall, which is clearly not the case. One of those unlucky situations you can be in.

Yeah I know, however I have had people bump me into walls much much harder than that and they did not get a penalty. However the driver hitting me here was C/S while I am A/S. Perhaps it's a DR thing. One race I was in first and a B/S driver behind me bump passed me into the wall on the final turn (same turn as here) without getting a penalty. The contact was hard enough to send me into the wall and slow me down so he could pass. Hence I thought it was less sensitive now but I guess it's the difference in DR that comes into play.

Hey bud, you *chose* to be at the back. No matter how fast you think you are, the car in front is under no obligation to just roll over and let you by. It's *your* responsibility to make the clean pass. The slower drivers are often just struggling to keep it on the track and are more focused on that than worrying about your ego. :p

I'm way behind on my motorsports this year. I have just been watching this years 24h and was thinking how much groovier the Xbows look with the body shell. 14h to go .

Yes @Sven Jurgens I think it is the DR thing. I'm almost certain that the game sees it as this, contact between two cars with drivers of different DR levels, lower rated one goes off (or into wall in this case) and it's the higher rated drivers fault regardless of who caused it and they get a penalty. Same incident except the higher rated driver goes off (or hits the wall) and it's still the higher rated guys fault most of the time or the lower rated driver gets a pathetic penalty and the higher rated guy gets SR- too. I certainly seem to get away with more when I have incidents on my GTP account (DR B) than on my main one (DR A+) that's for sure.

Although who knows for sure since there is so much randomness and imbalance with the penalty system at the moment, you don't know what's intentional and what's a fluke or lag related/buggy incident. :indiff:

It seems to me that they're testing different variations of the penalty system this week - I've run two C races, running at the back without hitting anything but the wall. A 5 seconds penalty in the first one, which I thought I could burn off, immediately started to run up to 13 seconds and I had to slow immediately! I tested it again in the next race, by hitting the barrier, and the same thing happened again. Red SR at the end of both races....

By contrast, in all of the race As I've done, not one person appears to have earned a penalty for ramming others - occasional penalties for corner cutting, and only one or two drivers with red SR at the end.

One of my new fav overtakes, threading the needle in a pinch.

Quickly trimmed down the video from 3 races last night into some highlights. I particularly like the pass around the outside of the viper through spoon. Lots of respect shown by most drivers out there.

Looks like some good racing. What were you driving?

On Race A last night someone bumped me and ran me wide. So I did the same thing to him and he left the track. I got a 5 second penalty and SR down for that.

That's great. Thanks a lot. I was just about to ask for your opinion.

@sturk0167 I hope I didn't hit you when I passed you on the inside. I didn't see any contact on the replay yet you suddenly swerved into the wall. Ah you're in a Beetle next, see you in lap 3 or so :)

Ok, lap 6 it was. I messed up big time in lap 1, straight into the wall at the pit. Ran into the wall where the road narrows then forgot to brake. At least I didn't hit anyone! Good race!

Ah, so it is still possible to get a penalty then - I'd still expect to see more in this rammers paradise of a race though.

Oh it's been a rough couple days at Tsukuba. I'm bleeding DR. Don't even want to see how much i've lost but I know it's thousands.

All good. You're much faster on that track than me. I'll let you by every time.

I wonder if the game knows how your driving? I have hardly raced this week, am a B driver, and despite the Audi TT being easy to drive, I hate it, it feels like a truck to me. So using the Alfa, which feels like a heavier Gran Turismo version 4 Lotus. The Lotus was my favourite car (you could soup it up too which was always heaps of fun - so I've been driving the Alfa 4c.

In my qualifying I did at the beginning on Monday night I think - 2:10.4, in the Alfa. But in the races I can only safely drive 2:11s. Typically the first sector is a 57.5 to a 58. Anyway I had two races yesterday and had some side bangs, and scored a 3 second time penalty for cutting a corner (for no gain I felt). But my SR has gone up now to I think 98. Despite the banging - and I pushed someone wide too (although I was on the inside line and had followed the curve tightly around so maybe the game knew I was trying to avoid the outside car). But I also hit someone from behind - I had allowed him to overtake me - he was in a Viper - and I moved over and let him to run alongside me - and then he sort of appeared dead in front of me on the curve leading onto the straight that goes to 130R - and I could not avoid touching him - I think the game knew I was trying to keep from hitting him?? I got by him too despite hitting him in the back ... strange. I must have done something wrong because he got angry and drove off the track half a lap later. But I got an increase in SR of 6. I lost some DR though, but I now of the mind that SR is more important.
