Sound advise. I won't touch any of the Tokyo configurations, but sometimes like a lemming at the cliff the compulsion to race at certain tracks is irresistible. For me that would be Nurburgring and Mount Panorama .
I gotta race them every single time! To hell with my DR/SR when they show up .

First time out on the Lake in the NSX, not expecting a win, turns out it is a very good car, one of the best doing the S under the bridge and stable if you go over kerbs while doing so, handling is a bit like the 458 but more restrained and less tail happy than other MR variants tend to be.

Quite happy to get Pole, Fastest Lap and Clean Race along with a win. Can't do better than that!

Also the penalty system is flat out worse than ever. Utterly illogical.

Lol. Got taken out by two cars that completely outbraked themselves, received a 3 second penalty. They're trolling right?

Given up on the Gr3 Ferrari. Fast but just too tricky in a race. Impossible to pass cleanly in because of the random oversteer.

Race A: N200, 1 Lap Le Sarthe No Chicane...hmmm.
Race B: I'll dust off the Megané :D
Race C: Oh nice, I am pleased Gr2 gets a race again, and Fuji is a natural home for it.

Good week, wonder what the car for Race A is.

St. Croix hasn't been in the dailies since August, when the switch to weekly races first happened. When the B or C layouts finally appear I may never leave.

So close yet so far.
N200 Sarthe no chicane, that straight is going to be long and boring yet some of the classics should be able to be detuned to N200, no BoP!
Mount Panorama always a favorite, yet only 3 laps in GR.4, not the best for me starting from the back, too short!
GR.2 Fuji, GR.2 will be fun to drive again, Fuji hmm, 13 laps of blah.

Mixed bag next week, I might actually be doing all 3 races for a change. I'll stick to the mountain in the end though I wish it was the C race.

Oh scratch race A, it's a one make :banghead: I was hoping for some more of this

I hope it's the Trans Am.
What a battle it will be, though. Everyone needs to get to the front by the first lap. SR killer. Count me in.

You found it. That's awesome!

Race B will be the only track you will ever see me driving a Fixed Or Repaired Daily in public. I have both Gr3 and Gr4 Big Banger liveries for the Mustang. On an all Australian and New Zealand grid, it should prove interesting .
That Mustang is great when you need a good top-speed Gr.3 car. 👍

I was holding out, but I finally tried out the hurracan.managed a handful of 2:08's and 2:09's, set a new Q time at 2:08.206. Tried mediums but only got 3 laps. First was an 08.7 then a couple of low 10s. Getting the hang of this track, but I keep tapping walls when I push. Raced the lambo, got pole and had a good 3 way battle with 2 other hurracan's. There was an Aston Martin for a while, but he faded. I ended up 3'rd, about a second behind the winner. Lost a position due to 5 second penalty I got early in T1 (wall). Decided to try the Cayman again. Figured I would start at or near the front and try to run away. Got P8 on the grid. It wasn't pretty. Ended up in survival mode. Finished 9th with a red B. Only had 8 seconds of penalties, and 5 were for, you guessed it, hitting a wall. I did get an orange SR flag once coming up on the hairpin. Don't know why, nobody touched me and I didn't touch anyone.

If you don't have problems with people crashing into you in T1 from where you start, then starting lower won't help to build DR. Only getting faster will do that. Not qualifying only helps when you start mid pack on for example Monza and get rear ended in T1 every time.

You can put some pressure on the cars in front. Feign moves and back out again to get them off their preferred line. Go side by side with clean drivers and at some point they will realize you are both losing time to the front and choose to let you go first to attempt to pass again later.

One dirty little secret to farming DR is to drop to SR.A. You'll start higher, much easier to win and you will still be gaining DR from all the lower DR drivers in the back. Finish position is all that counts.

When needed I practically attach my mirror to the inside wall and stay glued to it through T1, nothing but stripy road through the corner. Very much necessary to stay clear of the cars bouncing of the outside wall and the dives coming in from behind.

To make my point, I just violated my rule and took the outside as the inside was congested with penalty drivers, instantly got used as a bumper by a Sirocco that carried so much speed he still hit the wall after bumping my inside. 5 sec penalty for me. You can not take the outside in T1 if there is any traffic. This was a full SR.S room.

Beware of a new dirty tactic. Following a penalty driver into the pit, they will burn a bit of penalty on pit entry to let you ghost through them and get out right behind you, then draft bump you to get your SR Down and time their over take. It's pretty clever really, reported. (He mistimed his over take, then hit the wall, red S for me though)
Thank you Sven, this totally helps! I just broke thru to C DR for the first time in 60 days. I’ve been SR S virtually this whole time. My last race B did the trick. I started 4, ended 3. Not sure why the DR payout was so sizable but I’ll take it. Now that you’ve explained this, everything makes sense and I am having way more fun.
By the way, I have raced a few times with you, I sent over a friend request. I like having lap times to reference and push for. My PS4 handle is DPWolfla
Thanks again!

I don't think that not qualifying can work unless you're fast enough to win and podium against the other drivers, like Sven. I imagine that he is capable of getting pole, or at least top 3 times, for most of his races that he run's from the back. I think you need to be fast enough to get clear of anyone below top 5, or you get caught in the chaos. One reason I'm liking the cayman so far is that the cornering speed is high enough that I can sweep by slower cars in the S curves fast enough that they can't retaliate...assuming I get through clean.
Yea, I agree, it sounds like a delicate balance in many cases. I’m actually starting to understand how to pick my battles, like Sven said, I can’t count how many times I had a great position just to have it all end in disappointment at T1. I’ll now be aware. It helps that I now know the tracks very well without having to think to hard.
Thanks Rex!

I found, when doing a 1 stop, that burning penalty time from the first stint in the pits worked. You have to start from a dead stop anyway, and that way I can run hard and clean to the finish without worrying about scrubbing the time. Don't know if it would work with a busy pit, since I had it to myself when I pitted.

Yeah, I was all alone, but I didn't want to lose track position to the no-stoppers as traffic is the main obstacle to a 1-stop race. Also, I generally do not like it when people try to burn penalties in the pit entry or the pit exit as the ghosting/unghosting can really screw things up for following cars. Anyway, once the FIA style penalty zones are implemented it'll be the same for everyone.

Man, race B next week will be my worst nightmare as a Kiwi! Not only will the Aussies defend their territory till the death, but with it being Gr4, it'll be a swarm of angry Audi TT's or Megane's, & maybe Huracan's? (mainly with TC, CSA, and ASM switched on!). Even when we were part of the Asia server, I saw plenty of insane door-banging and it was usually an Aussie punting/slamming another Aussie!

While in the segregated Asia region, a certain CookieBun will dominate Bathurst like crazy, to the point that he should challenge Christopher Mies's 1:59 lap time in any Gr.3 car!

Speaking of CookieBun, have you got any reports of him getting rammed off by angry Aussies?

There are 2 guys on my all-time hit list now, that will get punted on sight. Damn, I should've saved the replay. I always forget that.

No, the ramming I've witnessed is mainly in the DR-A/B range. Anyway, to ram CookieBun, you'd have to be within striking distance in the first place, which there are very few drivers!

Well,
I finally got my first win as a B driver. Started 2nd, took the lead in T1 and never looked back. It was a no stop on mediums in the lambo. Out lap was a 2:17, then a 10.1 and another 10 after. Times crept up...lap 6 was a mid 12 and tires were getting bad, last lap was a 13 and P2 got within 1.2 seconds. Race time was 15:30. Sven rounded out the podium with 3rd. I had to watch the replay to see him work his way through the field. Awesome racecraft...very smooth working traffic. We had a good group and most drove pretty clean. Not a bad night. A win and a 2nd (from 4th, though I dropped to 10th after the start.)DR is over 15k, and SR is up to 58. Maybe I can get back to S before the tracks change and I have to learn my way around again.

She'll be right mate 👍. All you need to do is win with the GTR and then post in the post race comments "yer all a pack of arseholes!"

The only time I won at Bathurst (I've only won 4/522) was with the Veyron. When it was Asia, Bathurst was when you saw more Australians on the grid.

For all you statistics nut-jobs like me, it appears that Gran Turismo Sport web page has updated the personal sport career stats. Mine hadn't been updated since the Asia server split, but now I have entries for Monza no chicane (when it was Gr1 race C) and last weeks new Tokyo south inner loop track. I noticed the other day Kudos Prime had different numbers in brackets for my wins ie 85(91*), now they're both same.

Thought I'd give the Tesla (Race A) a try. What a freaking joke again!
This car cannot be controlled by an average driver using a wheel! Brake into a corner and it just spins out every time!
Do they really try their best to make Tesla look bad?

It’s quite possible PD is using data from the Tesla race to further isolate and tweak physics that focus upon driver input. Being they can rule out torque curves and engine related physics and concentrate upon cornering, TCS, ASM etc. I’m guessing but if I were PD, it seems like a decent way to experiment considering all the variables that a normal engine introduces that may cloud resulting outcomes or performance.
I just woke up so my brain is probably not ‘firing on all cylinders’ yet. :)

In short, perhaps it’s a controlled environment for data gathering.

I had a good night of racing last night, doing my usual traffic navigation. I didn't get to win yet had plenty fastest laps thanks to stopping for fresh tires. My DR was quite stable through the week however last night the disconnect monster struck, or rather got thrown back to the race select screen right at the end of warm-up. I always restart the game after each race so it can even happen on the first race. When is PD finally going to fix their connection issues... I also had a race I sat out in the pit due to something coming up, that's quite some DR lost with a bunch of DR.D in the room. Of course this morning my second race, disconnected in lap 1. Early enough to lose SR as well.

Oh well gives me time to post this nice pass. I love it when the 2 cars ahead fight for position. Anticipate, adjust, pass.

2 wide under the bridge, never a good idea. Sure it can work yet you always both lose a lot of time.

I also noticed that the stats have updated. Now I see I did a total of 108 races on Tokyo South inner loop. That's an average of 15 a day, staying at home with a back injury, playing GTS while standing as a distraction. Final tally, 5 wins, average start position of 15.06, average finish position 5.54.

On Monza no chicane I went from 10 races finished to 112, 102 races during that week. 7 wins with average start position of 12.38, average finish position 5.12.

My back is still not better so still racing at odd hours. I don't remember how many races I already did before this weeks Tokyo outer loop. Currently it's at 245 total, 25 wins, average start 10.61, average finish 4.67.

Racing without qualifying is fun!

You are just using too much brake. Set brake balance at -2 or -3 and be very light on brake pedal. It will take time but it is really fun when you master this car at this track. I found another second in lap time yesterday after 30 or so laps, down to 1:30.8 but that is still 2 seconds off of top time is US.
