I'm beginning to think that my idea of doing the same historic livery for every car I run at Bathurst was a bad idea :odd:. Getting the GTR preped has worn me out! I did some pre-qualifying laps. First lap was a couple of seconds slower than my established qualifying time. Second lap puts me within 4/10 of a sec. Third lap saw me 2s faster than my previous qualifying lap with the WRX. Weirdness .

I was up early again, ready for the mountain. I switched back to the Huracan, it's more fun to drive than a Mustang. Starting at 5am EST I saw the usual night guard getting replaced by the early morning kids. In other word, it started clean, then got pretty dirty. Plus matchmaking goes down to SR.B this time of day.

I avoided all penalties yet in some races I still got hit from behind enough to get a neutral or red rating at the end. The red was only once though so SR is safe at 99. My DR fall seems to be stabilizing at 19K, at least as long as I stay away from race C lol. I managed a 4th place at the Mountain once, yet it's very hard in a 7 minute race while starting last. I usually have my fastest lap in lap 6 while racing from the back, it's only a 3 lap race...

Fun though as usual. Flying down the dipper never gets old. At least Meganes are pretty small, easier to dodge!

Depending on which region you are racing in, there just may not be enough players in your region at your level. That's the problem I have. The DR/Ds are mostly at lower SR levels. At SR/S I find most of the players are DR/B.
I'm in Europe, I guess there's not enough D/A drivers wich makes sense.

No offence to anyone, but it's nice to hear that I'm not the only one having trouble this week. I haven't tried the B race yet. I ran some Q laps but am still learning the track. I've been trying to get my SR back up, and have finally made it back to S (barely), and that track scares me. Too many places to get slammed and loose both SR and DR. Ran some races at Fuji but haven't had very good pace. I just get going, then someone gets impatient and hits me, then it's playing catch up and over driving, which doesn't help. I can usually hang in the top 5 when it's clean, but when back in 10th, which is about where I grid usually, nobody wants to race clean it seems, and though many are slowing me down mid pack, I keep getting hit in the last section, and spinning isn't unheard of when that happens.

Been away for a while, but dropped in and ran B last night. Q right at 2:17, gridded 4,5,and 4. I had a lot of fun- racing was very clean. I think the Mountain scares off the kasuals- it's in a league by itself. I was running the Atenza- I know the Me-Gain and Huracan seem to be the Mountain Meta cars, but I can't find pace in them, and the Me-Gain sounds like a delivery truck. Got to have a pleasant soundtrack to be fast...

Two bites at the Bathurst cherry. My two second faster qualifying time got me ... P10/13, the fastest of the 4 DR/Ds. Rest of the grid was made up of a few DR/As and the rest Bs. The DR/Ds were all driving GTRs, but Meganes ruled the roost at the pointy end. No Hurricans.

Race starts and I'm doing ok for the first lap. Was passed on Conrad, but out braked them at the chase, only to slam into the wall at Murrays :banghead:. After that the car in front stretched the gap and I just couldn't seem to get it together like I had in qualifying. Finished P11 with no penalties.

SR Blue, DR dropped by 200.

Second race had quite a few of the same people in it. I started P7/11. Again 4 DR/Ds, with the rest DR/S and B. I was the only GTR.

Race starts and off we go. I held my own till Conrad, where I was passed by two people. One was DR/A doing a Sven. Headed towards Griffins a Megane missile came screaming past me and splatted the wall *hard*. I just plugged away and managed to pass the guy who finished in front of me last race and finished P8. No penalties.

SR Blue, DR dropped by 20. The GTR seemed to be easier to drive than the last time I tried it. I have no idea what I'll drive tomorrow.. I have no idea how I'd manage to do the livery on the NSX. Maybe I'll try the 626. Another day above DR 1 :dopey:.

Started B today in TT, haven't run it before in actual race.
4th on the shiskebab of A/S to E/C grid, 3s countdown and my wheel feels bit weak, but I do nothing.

Race start and only thing that works is the gas/brake pedals, power cord disconnected :lol:

After some express wall slam I manage to get it back in in panic, by now dead last.

Fast forward half a lap and it's carnage up ahead, I kid you not everyone ahead was flashing 5-10s penalties, it looked like a hockey fight.

I avoid 10 of them by some miracle in 2 laps but last one slams into me on the downhill curves, 1s for me.

To be honest, I admire @Sven Jurgens for doing back of the line races here:bowdown:

Edit: aaand 2 races later I'm on the edge of getting reset.. Got down to as low as sr C now and getting rammed off even at P2.. That's 40 sr in 2, runs.
Seems the lower you get, the faster the dirty players are :D
I did shave off few secs on the race pace with TT, so that's nice.

I wasn’t planning on boarding the Megane train for Race B so this week has been a lot of trial and error. I managed a 2:12.4 with the Scirocco, but it’s not very exciting to drive. I saw what the M4 could do but wasn’t able to find pace with it.

After seeing a few AWD platforms putting down great race pace I decided to check out the GTR. It’s not the fastest overall but I was able to run high 12s to low 13s during the race.

Unfortunately the Megane still pulls away like a rocket even when being drafted haha.

I think I’ll try the WRX and Evo next.

I’m surprised more don’t use viper vette jag mercedes on race b.
12 in race is winning pace at top rooms I was in.
For bs low 15 to mid 14 in race is very competitive.
I much prefer the vette myself because I know it now.

In bumper cam all I see is road everywhere, don't have a good fix on the edges
Do you ever use the view from above and behind? I think they call it the chase cam. It's the only view I like, because the situational awareness is the best.
It's like when your in a big truck and you can see much further ahead than when you're in little car. I can see what the cars around me are doing, and most importantly I always know where all 4 corners of my car and my tires are at. Maybe it'll help you avoid so many bumps.

Oh the radar is perfect to avoid cars and I have the dimensions of the cars down to the inch on most tracks :) I use bumper cam for the sense of speed as I mostly brake and gauge speed on feeling, I never look at the speedometer etc. Hence I do better in faster cars. The slower the car, the less precise I get as the difference in speed gets smaller.

VR works best as peripheral vision helps a lot for sense of speed, especially lateral movement on the track. Cockpit cam on tv doesn't work at all as it only obscures more of the road. Roof cam, too high. Chase cam, no feeling at all with the car. Plus the rear view mirror is the life saver when driving in traffic. Every other race it saves me from a dive bomb, it's so satisfying to see them fly past without hitting me. You go off first, then I'll take the corner at my leisure :)

That it is. I felt quite uncomfortable going in there in the morning with 99 SR (it's 93 now). Really, it's inevitable; you have the 6km straight which helps bunch up the top 5 and carnage ensues in the Porsche curves. I won there twice today and both times I was battling for first in the final sector when the leader shoved me aside but was ultimately done in by the subsequent penalty. This is in an SR/S lobby, mind you. :scared:

My Q time for Sarthe is a 4:39 flat and 1:30.3 on Fuji, which I find to be pretty competitive for a DS4 user (do correct me if I'm wrong ). Bathurst is a different story though. I just can't get any lower than 2:14.584 in qualifying (with the Megane!) even though I've pulled a 2:13.939 mid-race. The polesitter in the lobbies I'm put in - DR 19000 - is generally less than half a second off the pace compared to the top 100 and my time nets me around 8th place, which isn't really convenient... Any tips?

I've been running Race B with a QT of 2:18. :boggled:

All with clean race bonus, and DR is flat so I can't complain. It's really fun. Probably the highest group I'm comfortable with on this track. Group 3 + on Mt. Panorama is a bit too much for me to handle.

First time I used cockpit I laughed.
Now slower in everything else.
Works great after a couple hours.
Much better control and speed for me.
In cockpit I feel it’s way easier to detect and control under steer and oversteer.
You have more visual feedback about the car.
Some cars have a rear view cam displayed inside plus you have mirrors and radar.
As soon as I went in car I stopped power over steering so much.

Yes, but only to check SR/DR after each race, which updates as soon as the results are in. Everything else seems to be working fine, it has mostly up to date stats but things like fastest laps and so on can have a short delay on updating.
I use it for race info etc. however the region switch has made it think I am now in Europe, not in Oceania where I really am.
I'm wondering the same thing...

We're talking about the unofficial app right? If I remember correctly Sony (or somebody) came out with an official one, but the unofficial app was better at the time.

The reason I'm asking is because I started setting my Q times on Monday, and my lap time still hasn't registered.

Its hard to guess what might be slowing you down. Link to a video of your best lap?

Yeah, GTS Companion. I don't use it for lap times though.

Uploaded with the title "213895" and search tags "gtplanet", "bathurst" and "gr4". I start 5th, overtake 4th and get handed the W on a silver platter when the top two miss a braking point and I assume second place. I pass the leading Atenza into turn 1 of lap 2 and proceed to set a personal best of 2:13.895. Meanwhile, my qualifying time is still 2:14.584.

I’m one of the rare few that like Fuji. M/S7 and S/S6 works great. Lots of room to maneuver, fast controled pace...love it. Group 2 cars are stuck to the tarmac.

Only problem I have is That my Q time is my best time. I should have left some room to move up the grid. At least a second or so. I’m defending 10th 12th or 15th or wherever I begin the race. These guys are good. Hoping someone flies off the track on the last lap so I can gain a spot, is a dream that’s slowly fading away. ;)

Anyone else like Fuji?

I like Fuji as well - the combo is really nice. Didn't drive the GR2 Nissan up until this race, but I love it, I did probably 10 races today and with my 1.29.5XX time I'm also at my best so it's kind of hard to keep up with the rest of the field (I got matched up in really strong lobbies, I'm DR A SR S) but it was quite fun - although I got bumped out of track a few times...

Here's what pretty much most of the A races looks like this week, for those of you who are thinking about trying it.
I got a good run on the dude, coming out of turn 2. Clearly he was not open to the idea of getting passed (I guess he didn't know you're actually better off entering the long straight in about 3rd or 4th position). He ran me right off into the grass. I could've hammered him in the last curve before the straight, and he knew it, that's why he ran wide.

I figured he deserved an SR-down, so I rear-ended him on the straight (he tried the ghost thing) and considered I the matter to be closed. I was over it, at that point, and figured I'd just out race him. He kept hitting me when I got alongside, and made me run into an innocent bystander. So, in defense of the innocent guy, I decided to forget the race and make him taste the wall. Somebody else from behind ended up finishing him off, for good.

The funny part is after the race, I just asked him "Why". His response was that I was an idiot for trying to pass him on the grass. Uh, I was only on the grass because that's where I had to go to avoid him. Anyone who had run Q laps there, knows that the line he took is not normal. at all (his Q time is 4:37, so he knows that). He would've driven himself off the track if my car wasn't there.

I know, I know, I'm too vengeful and I shouldn't retaliate, but the only thing a bully's gonna understand is force.

Shame you for retaliating  I don't understand those people that have to be first out on a straight. It's not going to help you. Of course trying to pass him there, you kind of belong to that group

I'll be on Sarthe next week in GR.1, it's going to be fun! R92CP time, dodge the 919s on the straight, dodge them again at corner exit coming from behind. Leap frog racing all week.

Total clown fiesta. Predictable antics, but just seems the style of racing there is "be a dick". Ah well, thanks for the laugh. In contrast it was so good when the F40 was running the same no chicane circuit about er half a year ago. The 86 Grr has to be the worst car they could have picked. It may be the master of the Nurburgring but certainly not leSarthe.

My Q time is nowhere near you. 1:33.2 . I have to have TCS set on 2, fuel map 1 all the way. My pedals are junk so I do what I have to. Even with my inexperience , I still have a blast. Until I get rammed, but I get out of the way when I sense a wreck is coming at me.

1:29.5 is a long way off for me. I have to be able to kill TCS. It’s the only assist I use. Not sure when and if ASM or CSA is useful or hurts my Lap time. So I leave all assists off.

Well I finally had to get my own PS4 today, I had been sharing with my son before but he got a couple new games for Christmas and it was clear I was gonna need my own. So I’m starting over from scratch for real this time, I’ve been working on beating all the offline stuff over again all afternoon and evening(after the 3 hour install lol) trying to build up money and cars to be able to go back online and race. I should have missions and driving school all re golded by morning, track experience is gonna take a little longer though. Then it’s back to DR 1 and starting all over again lol, oh well I knew this day would come eventually. My New PSN is Pigems for anyone I had added to my old one(bringerofrain279), or any new people who feel like adding me as well, the more the merrier. I Hope to see you all back out there again soon :)

Ah race b. I decided to say eff everything and just race. Picked back up the dr I lost and sitting above 90 sr finally.
There were several sketchy races tonight, but managed to come out decent. Couple podiums.
I conceded 2nd in the last one to an Aston. He was on me down Conrod into the chase so I just lifted. Better to be safe than sorry.
I find fighting for sr easier on the mountain than at an n200 race and that’s sad. Those guys are bashers! I was donating dr and they just seem attracted to the other cars haha.
I wasn’t even trying to race them last night it’s like they wanted to hit people, I was mad and gave up trying to avoid, it was impossible! Terrible race for grid start imo.
It’s been interesting to see what happens to matchmaking below sr 99.
It can be a real crapshoot going below 90 it seems. One room was all A sr and a and b dr and of course I got manhandled by a guy on the left coming onto Conrod which caused me great concern but luckily after the chase I was clear again.
I’ve taken a few weird orange arrows over this week, but I think I am through my bad luck spell.
The track is awesome! I love this track!
I find I really don’t care much about dr at all. I’d rather start 13 in a top lobby than get twenty wins in others.
Also dr a sr s guys are too quick for me right now.
I really remember now how tough it can be to rise up if your sr has dropped.
You gotta respect sr s!

Stay thirsty my friends

I took a few month long break from GT Sport as my real life racing season was coming to a head and much work needed to be done to the race car. I was elated to come back this week and see that the mountain GR 4 was the weekly.

I tend to race AWD cars, mostly the WRX, GT-R, and Evo. While not the fastest on the mountain they allow me consistency and cleanliness which has paid off greatly (see attached image).

I wish the mountain was available every week as a daily. I find it one of the absolute best courses in GT Sport.
