I’m really trying to like Interlagos, I’ve done a ton of laps, but I just don’t for some reason lol. I do however like the Mustang, I hadn’t really tried that car before, so that’s a plus. :)

I did a race on A and C, got the pole on A but a rammy Megane decided to ruin the race for me and a few others, cruising around banging his way to the front, he was SR S too somehow, red B by the end of the race though, I managed 2nd but lost 17 SR points in the process. It’s hard to maintain SR when you’re going for wins, everyone wants to bang it up for the Dub.

So I switched to race C which featured an S, A+ and two A drivers, all SR S in the field, had a good run until everyone stopped for tires on lap 5, I didn’t realize we were stopping and cruised on lol, got two more laps in before I had to change and ended up in 6th by the end. Not a bad result considering my mess up haha. SR back up 13 points though from that race. So I think race C will be my race this week again. :)

This is where I’m at so far, decent on A and C, ok on B, So far. That Motul Nissan on RH’s is seriously slippery, especially once the tires wear down a bit, it’s gonna be a fun week. :D

Well it happens often that there is 10 minutes left before the race starts. Kinda strange but we’ll see!

You have to wait until entry opens to join a race, you can’t join one while another race is in progress, or at least not until it’s almost over. Race C is usually one race every half hour, while races A and B are normally every 15/20 minutes, it can be definitely frustrating waiting for another one especially if you just miss an entry, you end up doing hot laps and sometimes miss the next entry, and then you get stuck in the cycle of misses lol. :)

I'm getting humiliated at Interlagos. I'm putting in laps that are just 1.2s off the pace compared to the fastest person in Europe, only to start outside of the top 10 in every race. 1:32.2 probably isn't nearly enough... Meanwhile both my ratings have taken blows thanks to my internet betraying me twice

I also came extremely close to winning at Fuji but my Huracán was no match for the opposing TT in a drag race to the finish (that thing broke the slipstream ) and I came second by .1s, very exciting race.

The one thing that made up for it all was that I had a great battle for 6th place with a certain Super GT at Fuji on livestream and even pipped him by .005s, only to lose three places to a penalty  :banghead: Oh well :p

Okay so that driving in the back, I consider that Fleecing the SR to 99 vs earning it.

That's a good way to get mix matched racers. I have good reason to be worried seeing DR D or E / SR S going in lol

It's the same driving from pole to victory, you don't really earn the SR. That used to happen a lot to me. I normally would start 5th to 8th while qualifying, get murdered in T1 with penalties thrown my way for no reason. That dopped my SR to sub 90 or SR.A which had me often start on pole for an easy victory and big SR gain. I don't really call those wins, yet I got a lot of them on Monza and it even put me in DR.S (before it was changed to A+) for a night.

It is a tactic used by some drivers to farm wins. Drive reckless in SR.S punting your way to victory. Either you get away with it and win, or you drop SR and get easier victories, and an easy time regaining SR.

Wow I tell yah people are clever to some extent lol I would do it just like you and they may be a hollow vvvvictry to some extent but that's at no fault of your own at least. A really Dirty Boi may go in the next races with a vendetta

Why they don't race open lobbies to punt around I do not know yet

I still wish I had your record. Let me explain.

Winning ~ It's not all it's cracked up to be. Winning your first race on a new car/track combo is cool. A few more may be good if you have some fun battles. But, there have been a couple times where I was really dialed in on a particular daily race, and beat everyone easily (doesn't happen often). After a few pole to victory races, it gets old, really fast. There's really no joy to be had in a race like that. Many racers will end up retiring after 3 or 4 races like that. Many times I've wished I could delete my Q time.

Look at that crazy guy from Canada, Olav or something like that (don't wanna mention his real name too many times and give him a big head). He could win tons of races if he cared to. I suspect he chooses not to qualify because he gets more enjoyment out of battling than gapping the field and cruising to an easy victory.

Some of the really good top-level guys cannot handle finishing second, and get all 🤬 off, and let it ruin their day. Although they get a lot of wins, they can never really enjoy themselves.

The most fun victories for me are when I am not expecting it.
I agree. I have 4 wins (so far) and expect more, but pole to win is kind of like running hot laps. Keep up the pace and don't make mistakes. Much more fun is dicing with someone who races clean, and is not afraid to give up a position. If I tag a wall and loose my momentum, and the guy behind is coming fast, I hold my line and he goes by. None of this weaving crap. When I've been in a race with someone close to my speed, and they're clean, we end up trying different lines, and sometimes going side by side, trying to get around each other. Nothing beats a hard, clean race with lots of lead changes. I've had a couple. 1 was for the win (I didn't) 2 for second and third, (split those) and a couple for non podium spots. Even finishing 8th after loosing a 3 way battle for 6th was more fun than my flag to flag victory the other night. But I'll still take the W.

Agree with most sentiments that the weekly races are becoming very repetitive. Where is my oddball N class car on a completely unsuited track Race A PD??? I don't mind Race B and C taken up by the usual suspects, but I look forward to Race A the most every week because it's always something new or hilarious (and I'm better with oddball combos). As it stands it's going to be a long and boring week. I suspect I might spend more time TTing than racing this week. Hopefully it's just a one off and they are keeping things safe in preparation for the update next week.

So are you pretending to be an Aussie or a Kiwi?

Not sure what you mean there. If you're wondering about the flag discrepancy between my GTP account and PSN, it's because IDN wasn't available when I signed up to PSN back in 2008. But I've since moved proper to AU so all's good.

Did you miss last week's 60s Corvette on an oval?

I won't lie, I agree with him that Race A should always be an N Class car, or something equivalent in Gr.X (like the Alfa TZ2)

If PD wants to mix up Race A, they can throw us an oddball like an Open Garage N400. They've done it before.

Did some quali runs and I've done these lap times:
IMG_20190108_084102.jpg

Race A: Huracán Gr.4
Race B: R8 LMS '15
Race C: GT-R GT500 '16

As for the races, Race B is a lights-to-flag victory in the R8, though a Malaysian in an RSR gave me some hard time. Then followed by Race A where it seemed like it was going to be a battle for the lead, until I ended up haemorrhaging penalties on one corner to the point that I ended up serving a 7 second penalty, then went nuts to catch up to a GT-R and ended up finishing 2nd, beating the GT-R by 2 thousandths of a second!

Nice work man, you’s One fast dude!! :)

Did you miss last week's 60s Corvette on an oval?

Or the week before with the Toyota 86 on La Sarthe.

No I was there and enjoyed them very much (remember the Tesla/Beetle at Tokyo Central as well?). That's why I was disappointed when I saw this week's races had no N/Gr.X cars. Gr.1/2/3/4 are fine and I understand they are the premier racing groups in GTS, but for those of us who like driving road cars and want a bit of mix up Race A has always fulfilled that purpose. Anyway, it's only for 1 week so it's not the end of the world.

I still look forward to the day PD had enough balls to do a Fiat 500F at Nordschleife on Comfort Hards

Well, I'm a bit off tonight. Ran a few laps at Suzuka in the GT-R...gave that up quick. Tried the Mazda at Interlagos. Could barely get into the 34's. Nowhere near my 33.1 from last time. Tried a few different cars and did a 33.8 on the first lap in the Aston. Said what the heck and entered with it. I'm DR-B, and SR-C right now. Room was almost all SR-C with a couple of D. P2 was an RSR, and pushed me till the end, but I got the W, and I didn't have to protect except for once entering T1. He was never back more than .8. Got the clean race bonus, he got fastest lap. 33.706 vs my 33.776. The amazing part? Though only us 2, and one other, didn't have red dots at the end, everyone but 1 guy had a blue letter, and that guy was white. No red SR in a C room. Amazing! I hope it's a sign of things to come.

There are some countries not represented by the PSN even now who have to say their location is somewhere else. And for the Sport Mode regions it's even more restrictive. I'm guessing there are people in other countries where au or nz is their nearest server. I figure that was you ;).

Can't stand them Drunk Drivers Noooo I'm not going to follow you around on the infield go on take ur win looking like a clown.

I had some nice close battles yesterday it was Great.

Practicing for Gr4 Fuji my Q Lap in the Lambo is down to 43.7

DS4 No Odd ball Assist No TCS no Steering Assist but Default ABS cuz errrrrybody got ABS from what I can see.

Moved over to Campain mode Gr4 Races to get some cars in the mix and familiarize myself with the car in more situations. Car feels great I feel like I'm fast, just looking at the leaderboard is discouraging. 40's?!? Damn Son my thumbs having hard time keeping up lololol

How competitive are 44's as I can do 44's regular and hit 43 on a hot lap

Going in first run now Gr4 Fuji, hope to be in a clean crown and not inadvertently cause any crap.

UPDATE

So first race I had some trouble. Came off the count down banged off the limiter crap car behind gets a jump and overtakes me on the inside but just a nose going in turn one so I have to brake early to not overshoot the exit. My mistake cost me 2 spots as guy tucked behind him on the inside. Going into the hard left after the long right sweeper Evo comes from behind to bump pass me on the inside, kinda like a dirty little nudge lol on the little kink right at the bottom of the hill he pushes wide and tags a penalty but he goes wide in last turn and gets a good run. I was struggling. Going down into first it got crowded so I move over and missed my braking point THANKFULLY I managed to avoid hitting anybody so not to mess them up with my mistake by cutting to the inside grass slid across track into run off spot on other side nobody got knocked... Its not over. At this point from pack far ahead I got 1 guy far back probably farming SR I run wide ever so slightly turn 2 tag a 2 sec penalty DAMMIT. Finish the race thinking my Fresh 93 SR would be kicked but maybe not much.

SR Went up to 94....

Okay, lets try again, now that I know what to expect and I got to shift on the light. This went better, I didn't have a crap start and kept with the pack for the most part, kicked tail out lap 3 on final turn just a tad, enough for behind cars to catch up. A VW started putting pressure on me and last turn last lap got a run on me in the straight, I give them room to go by maybe get a draft before the line lol who am I kidding. I recognized the driver who past me from last week dailies and they race well and clean so its all good.

Came out with a SR 99 but my DR took a couple hundred off the top.

I got an idea what to expect now. Honestly tho I did not feel competitive, not as good without my wheel :( it broke & I'm broke lol

I'm going to have to get more practice in. More GTS practice than this even. I should do some single player campaign I've only run 2 series and couple other races besides beginner half of licence .

My audition for the overtaking thread was not successful so I'll post here instead.

It's nice to race against people you can trust. Hard racing but a lot of respect, there was always a cars width on the outside, no being forced onto the grass. 👍

Had a few races at interlagos, it's a track I like and dislike, not sure why. Usually go well. Qualified with a 1:32.5. A bit off, and I'm swaying towards the mustang as I can't get close in anything else. Nabbed a win when I should have finished 2nd after clouting a cone and getting airborne. The other guy somehow didn't get past and neither did we touch through the next corner. The mustang can hold it's own in a side by side drag for sure!

I do agree with what you say about it being more fun to have a battle with a clean battle with someone being the most fun, but I also get a kick out of an error free race from the front, I had a race at Tokyo last week, where I got past the pole sitter on lap 1 and then ran from the front to the flag. I really enjoyed keeping it clean and extending the gap, even got a lap in that was faster than my qualifying lap, the guy behind was quick as well he was never more than 3 secs behind me the whole race to keep me honest.

Phew I'm beat. Just ran quali laps for all Gr.4 and Gr.2 cars over the last 2 days. I know BOP tests have been done with these cars but I also want to test them out myself to establish a baseline. Plus handling characteristics often don't come out on pure laptimes and you can be faster just by purely having a car that suits you better.

Gr.4 wise for Race A I find the Veyron is fastest oddly enough :boggled: Followed by the 458. Generally FF and 4WD cars are faster at Fuji since the last section is traction limited and they have a higher power bump. RWD cars are faster in the early parts but on the last 3 corners and the straights it just can't keep up. Also the usual FF suspects (Audi TT and Megane) are fast but they need a specific driving line which makes them weak in dogfights.

Gr.2 is clearly split into 2 levels. The old cars just can't compete handling and stability wise (the NSX in particular is just atrocious - seems like the carried over the MR physics from GT6 ). Among the newer cars, the NSX is again clear third unless you can take advantage of its oversteer. The Lexus is more stable and forgiving but the GT-R has faster raw pace if you can manage the understeer and wheelspin. Went with the GT-R and tried a no stopper, but lost out to an alien on a one stopper with 7 second gap in the end. On the replay his pitstop costs 10 seconds while my pace drop off total costs me 20 seconds. Would I have won with a one stopper? Who knows.

Have only tried Race B once today in the 650S. Top 3 all ran similar pace but I lost the rear in the last lap so ended up 3rd behind two 911s. Gonna test out the rest of Gr.3 cars later in the week.

It seems like every race I would've started on pole and won comfortably if it weren't for an alien in 1st/2nd. So frustrating. Either everyone is still on holidays or the triple Gr combos are drawing more aliens than usual.

Well if I wanted the closest server I would've picked Singapore, but then again I don't know if it existed as an option back in 2008. Since I currently live in AU I have full 5 bars no problem, but I do go back to visit occasionally so if you see my suddenly lagging everywhere you know why ;)
